Morning Buzz: An Apology From USC

  • USC apologized to UC Santa Diego on Tuesday after it raided the prestigious Alzheimer’s Disease Cooperative Study at UCSD in 2015 and took control of the program’s contracts that were worth ten of millions of dollars and led to a contentious lawsuit.

“USC and Dr. Paul Aisen regret that the manner in which Dr. Aisen and members of the ADCS staff left UC San Diego and brought research assets to USC (and) created disruption to UC San Diego.

“These actions did not align with the standards of ethics and integrity which USC expects of all its faculty, administrators, and staff. USC is committed to, and wants to be known for, ethics, integrity and the pursuit of academic excellence, and it has already implemented sweeping changes to this end.

“These standards will apply to all aspects of University operations, including the recruitment and/or transition of faculty members to or from USC. USC regrets that actions in this case fell short of these standards.”

  1. This issue between USC and UCSD is a non-issue. This happens in industry all the time. I’m just hoping that the turd that was left on Dr. Folt’s desk on her first day on the job by the Courtright allegations leads to a phone call to The Lisper and Gomer to come over to her office in Bovard where they are put on Double Secret Probation for their continued failures.

    1. Calabasas — (1) I don’t see why we apologized to UCSD in the first place. Screw ’em if they feel “disrupted”. (2) At their meeting with Folt, Swann and Helton were asked “Is there any hard evidence of these illegal payments or can we go with the ‘disgruntled former employee’ defense?” Swann —a little too quickly and, perhaps, misunderstanding the question–responded “nothing hard here, ma’am.” Folt replied, “Whew —we’re good to go. Dismissed!”

    And yet USC’s BoT honors the architect (C.L. Max Nikias) of the clusterfuck that USC has become by naming him “President Emeritus and Life Trustee of the University”.

    What a joke! That asshole Max Nikias should have been banned from the USC campus for life.

  3. Expect another apology from USC around October 12, 2019 after the Irish win big in South Bend which puts the final nail in Helton’s coffin, ending his coaching career, not just at USC, but for all eternity.

    Clay Helton starts the season with a 2-4 record, Helton and Lynn Swann are fired due to gross incompetence and USC is forced to apologize for having hired both of those idiots in the first place.

    The apology is long overdue.
