This Is How A President Should Talk

When Norman Topping became USC president in 1958, his first major address following his inauguration was at the homecoming luncheon on Nov. 5.

Topping talked about USC having a variety of business interests.

“We also engage in entertainment in a small way, although I’ve heard the word, entertainment, questioned after some of our football games this year.”

USC went 4-5-1 in 1958.

  2. Topping was Prez when I went to USC. He was a nice guy and approachable. You would see him walking around campus smoking a cigarette. Steve Sample was a great Prez as well. He raised $ and was concerned about academics. He also loved USC athletics. We will see what we get with Folk. I am not optimistic, but we will see.

Since Folt has apparently already left and been replaced by someone named Folk, I say it’s time to start thinking about bringing Pete Carroll back as president next week when this Folk person probably leaves too. Pete knows how to deal with the NCAA (ignore them until they complete a 5 year investigation –then leave the state)…..

  3. President Topping was a great leader and he loved Football and Coach McKay.
    He was approachable and knew me as the 1969 Team CoCaptain.
    My Mom traveled to all away games and hung out with President Topping for Food and Drinks.
    He always stopped by the practice field along with the very reclusive David X Marks.
    Who’s name was on the tower I stayed at in my Freshman Year!!
    I got to see President Topping and Coach McKay in 1988, When USC put on a fantastic celebration of the 100th year of USC Football.. A sit down dinner inside the Coliseum in August.. Honoring all era’s of past Players still alive.
    1920’s thru 1980’s on separate levels ..
    All together.
    I was next to my Teammate OJ and the TV camera’s always on Him!
    Class Act for USC!!

    1. OJ, absolutely a class act. In fact, to this day, OJ refuses to give up looking for the person who murdered his ex-wife.

        Jensen himself is a class act and I think we should cut him some slack when interpreting his comments —-when he talks about “a class act for USC”, I think he was referring to USC honoring all the players from the 1920’s through the 1980’s —not sitting next to O. J. (who was his teammate whether we like it or not).

      3. Nobody could read somebody else’s words from the teleprompter better than Obama! Wow! He was so darn good at that. I’ll remember him for something else, though. After Bush left the economy in shambles by allowing the big banks to cheat their own investors and foreclose on millions of homeowners, Obama bravely told them “don’t you dare pay bonuses to your execs or I’ll stop you by executive order.” The banks told him to stick it up his ass —so Obama said “if you go through with the multi million bonus plans, I’m gonna tax them 100%!” The banks told him to stick it up his ass again —and paid the biggest bonuses in history to their top execs. Putin was watching and said to himself, “time to annex Crimea —- there’s a big pussy in the White House.”

      3. Thanks for pointing out all the b. s. You know what’s worse? I worked with lawyers who went on to serve in the Clinton administration and they showed obvious contempt for the very poor they claimed to wanna help —making fun of the homeless we passed on the way to Cole’s for beef dip sandwiches in downtown L. A. (“Oh, look! They must all belong to the same club —they all wear the same exclusive clothes and smell of the same perfume!”). These guys say all the right things about “compassion” in public but they haven’t done shit for the poor in the last 50 years.

      4. The great thing about the dems is that they desperately want to not fund that damn pesky fence & guarantee an endless supply of $12/hr labor.
        That sure puts a wrench in the spokes of the legal $12.50/hr labor in the U.S.A. currently & hoping to get a raise to $15/hr.
        It’s a good thing the legal $12.50/hr labor keeps voting dem to get those handouts.

      5. Funny you should ask 22 because Special counsel Robert Mueller will testify @ public hearings before two House committees on July 17, 2019.

        See 22, that means the Mueller Investigation Report author will present the factual version on the report which, no doubt, will contradict T’s sock puppet AG Gates’ toady, suck up, sanitary version.

        BTW 22, the T Russian collusion investigation isn’t completed. Once T’s Deutsche Bank Loan records are exposed the shit will hit the fan.

        Let’s hear it for T’s Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta, who, prior to his Cabinet appointment, provided the recently arrested Jeffery Epstein, a registered sex offender, a prior sweetheart pass on multiple felony counts of underage female (statutory rape?) sex beef – zero jail time!
