Remember when I wrote Mike Bohn had second thoughts about taking the USC job because Carol Folt had reservations about hiring Urban Meyer?
Here was Folt’s answer based on my report:
https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.jsI asked #USC President Carol Folt about whether she’s placed any limitations on new AD Mike Bohn and what he can or can’t do with the football coaching position. Her response: pic.twitter.com/7gtSmmawkn
— Ryan Young (@RyanYoungRivals) November 7, 2019
I’ve heard from multiple sources for weeks that Folt did not want Meyer. I wrote two days ago a source told me a major donor offered to pay off Clay Helton’s contract if she would hire Meyer. She supposedly told the donor she did not need the money
Folt has the right to not want Meyer. But her answer above is not true if that is the case. So she should explain to people what happened two weeks ago.
What about restrictions with Bob Stoops? Why didn’t she want to pay his coaching staff what Stoops requested?
The bottom line is, Folt has some explaining to do.
Watch Carol’s face go from soft smile to tight lipped grimace —- sure give away…

Arturo, my brother, a few live by the honor code, the others, such as Folt, do whatever it takes to survive another day. Lying is simply a means to an end. And sheesh, that video really makes it look like she is barely keeping her head above water.
Sadly, SC is not the institution it used to be. Topping, Hubbard, Sample, McKay, J Rob, Carroll. It is ludicrous that Wanda Austin, Folt, are called president of USC.

Arturo –They DO tell the truth. Maybe not with words (which are made for lying) but with their eyes, their jaw lines and the sounds they make. Freeze frame Folt’s face. She goes totally rigid while saying the word “no.” Anyone playing poker with Folt would know she’s bullshitting.

Too bad Vincenzo Carccotti didn’t ask er:
“Sicilians are great liars. The best in the world. I’m Sicilian. My father was the world heavy-weight champion of Sicilian liars. From growing up with him I learned the pantomime. There are seventeen different things a guy can do when he lies to give himself away. A guys got seventeen pantomimes. A woman’s got twenty, but a guy’s got seventeen… but, if you know them, like you know your own face, they beat lie detectors all to hell. Now, what we got here is a little game of show and tell.”

MG- I used to travel all over the motherland after I became a teacher and was still single- wouldn’t dare do that nowadays. I have had cousins kidnapped by the cartels just not to have ransoms paid, but rather for them to join their organizations and bring legitimacy (one of my cousins is a vet and well respected in the community) The things people do for power and money.

Arturo —I know 3 artists who were born in and have lived in Puebla all their (long) lives —they make good money illustrating children’s books and doing religious murals —and they tell me that over the last dozen years they get calls on the phone telling them they’re going to be kidnapped unless they start turning over a portion of their earnings….[luckily, nothing ever happens].
25 years ago Puebla was like Paradise.

Yeah, seriously, 67. Remember in “No County For Old Men” when Javier Bardem tells Woody Harrelson “it would be more honorable to admit the situation”? That’s the way I feel about USC’s deliberate de-emphasis of football. It would be SO much more honorable to say, “We laugh at the people who take football games seriously; we don’t wan’t their money, we don’t want their allegiance and, in turn, we’re not going to give them a product they can be the least bit proud of. That’s the new deal. What do you think of it?”

And please, people, stop referring to Helton as gentleman Clay…seriously? enough is enough…will anybody ever call him out face to face on his insistence that the recruiting class ranking was due to the low number of scholarships…and what about Bohn? Recruiting was going better than people want to admit? Herm Edward’s famous quote “You play to win the game. You don’t play to play the game” applies not only to football but to life.
Folt now represents SC. If she is not about demanding excellence in everything [ academics, sports, finances, etc] then why is she “running” this university?
Why would anyone want to get a degree from SC when it’s own administration either doesn’t know or doesn’t implement basic business principles. Excellent football product = money = brand recognition = influence, etc.
PS: she failed her own test of “integrity” above all else. The above Q & A is exhibit A.

Folt is determined to rescue USC from its reputation as a football factory.
Now that the university has been recognized for its academic improvement, the next logical step it is to scale down its football program.
The new AD has been called experienced ( in contrast to Swann ), but can just as accurately be called a journeyman athletic director. He obviously knows how to interview and to please his bosses. Lucky for Clay Helton.
As long as the football program has no scandals and is reasonably competitive in the PAC12, Folt will be happy.
