USC Schedule Is Not As Tough As Some Think

I keep reading USC’s schedule is a nightmare.

Why?

USC opens with Alabama and closes with Notre Dame. Tough games. What else is there?

  • New Mexico is awful.
  • Stanford won four games last season and had about 15 players enter the transfer portal.
  • Arizona State is a respectable team but not considered a surefire Top 25 opponent.
  • Utah is supposed to be a tough game in Salt Lake City but the Utes lost nine starters on defense, the quarterback and tailback.
  • Cal is Cal. Good quarterback but Justin Wilcox allowed their defense to get shredded by USC because he played man-to-man defense.
  • Arizona is a struggling program.
  • Colorado has a new coach and new quarterback.
  • Oregon is considered the best team in the Pac-12.
  • Washington has a new coach, new quarterback and will be at the Coliseum, not Seattle.
  • UCLA has done nothing under Chip Kelly.

Now I am fully aware that the Pac-12 always produces upsets and some teams play better-than-projected. And Clay Helton is usually good for an own goal at any moment.

But is this a nightmare?

Would you rather play the above schedule or play in the Big Ten with Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Wisconsin, Minnesota . . .

I won’t even mention the SEC.

USC might have a tough schedule but it is also manageable. And USC has more talent than most teams on its schedule.

    1. Arturo — I hear you…but can I put some of the police abuse in perspective? I worked with the police in 3 different counties —San Francisco, Los Angeles and Solano. The great majority of the people I worked with were the opposite of racists —they were extremely fair and even handed men and women. Some were bullies, however — and they caused a lot of unnecessary suffering. I must read a half dozen stories a year about a restrained suspect complaining about not being able to breathe….and dying as a result of the arresting officer’s inability to take their plea seriously. It’s tragic. And more times than not it’s a result of the arresting officer’s general inability to determine the degree of force necessary to get the job done (i. e., more a case of all-encompassing insensitivity & ignorance than racism). I absolutely hated working with this type — and, believe me, you knew who they were in the first few seconds of your pretrial interview.
[If you’re talking about the bank worker calling the cops on the “African American” in the park, however —yeah, that looks to be good, old fashioned racism]……

      2. Why do you have to politicize everything , gotroy22? You are pretty good at slinging stuff, but never offer a solution. I took my boys down to our local police station to introduce them to people that they should respect despite the fact that I myself have been pulled over for looking the way I look yet never being charged for anything. Has that ever happened to you?

      3. Why are you such a lying racist weasel, Arturo? You are the one brought up politics here, but like most libtards you can dish it out but you can’t take it. Now you are going to take all your marbles and run home to Mommie because your widdle feeewlings got hurt. Poor Baby.

      4. MG- completely agree with your take. I know most cops are good people, but it is frustrating when they don’t seem to police themselves. Therein lies the solution in my opinion- police officers having the cajones to draw the line and say something when they see something going on with another officer. I will say this publicly, I ever hear or see a fellow teacher at my school doing something shady, I will call them out and make sure that they are dealt with accordingly.

    2. I wonder what the ratio is of police brutality to the number of assholes committing assault crimes on the public.

I don’t condone police brutality, but police officers put up with a lot of shit and put their lives on the line every day to protect John Q. Public.

How about next time you get harassed or assaulted you ask a citizen to help you out.

      Look at these fucking animals…

Of course you, a practicing racist, would defend his actions. Do me a favor, never make comments about me or towards me in the future. Racist 22. You can have the last word now.

Speaking of your stupidity, you always make these broad, generalizations about liberals yet cheer them when it is convenient for you ( in case you didn’t know, approximately 90% of African- Americans which make up about %60 of the USC football team are, you guessed it, liberal) Your football team is made up of liberals, you hypocrite. I guess that makes you a racist hypocrite. Well done, Racist 22.

  1. USC’s schedule is a nightmare because it has Clay Helton as its head coach.

Some of those team descriptions could be used to describe Helton. New coaches can apply to USC’s new assistants. Getting shredded on defense can apply to USC’s defense last year. Players entering the transfer portal is something USC has had to deal with too. But the most accurate assessment for Helton is New Mexico’s description.

    1. New Mexico IS awful. And it’s team-wide awfulness. And there’s nothing New Mexico can do about it. Bohn’s plan (I think) is to keep Helton’s awfulness in check by giving the coordinators near-total freedom on how they run things….

  2. We have what should be 9 auto wins. The P12 = New Mexico, who also is on our schedule.

ND and Oregon are far less talented but better coached so that’s a toss up, we should back into beating one or both.

Bama with no spring practice, their 1st game, a new QB and few returning guys is like a miracle for us.

If Clay Helton can be just mediocre he should have ten or eleven wins, and not look bad in any game. Urban Meyer must be sick looking at how this year panned out, this was an automatic playoff year for him, perhaps an unbeaten regular season.

  3. There is no excuse for what the police are doing! Especially Minneapolis Police because this is their second nationally exposed incident of racist actions and killings. If he were white the officer would not kneel on his neck. But Kap kneeling on a sideline just set everyone off! I guess kneeling on a black man neck is better than kneeling on grass.

  4. Bama does not need a spring practice or a QB to beat a Clay Helton coached team. Remember Clay does not practice hard. He holds basically 7 on 7 workouts. Anyone of us on this thread who is not in poor health can get through a USC football practice. SMH!

  5. The only team on USC’s schedule that has recruited better than them is Alabama.

USC should win every game except the one vs the Tide.

Helton is so bad at coaching, he’s good for about 4 to 5 losses even with the talent USC is able to recruit.

  6. USC will definitely lose to Arizona State, Utah, Alabama, Notre Dame, Oregon, and Washington. And It should be clear sailing for Clay Helton after those games, because the talent level will be lopsided for the remainder of the opponents. So a 6-6 finish should do it, then Bozo gets the boot 🥾

  7. If USC gets blown out by Alabama then can we expect Helton to be fired? or will Bohn make us suffer through the season with this idiot?

      1. Define a what a racist is, Cal 75. I don’t know if you are a minority, but have you ever been a victim of racial profiling? It is easy to use that narrative of a liberal always calling someone else a racist, but have you ever just listened to their arguments? You don’t have to agree, just listen. Racist 22 thinks that I condone all illegal actions, he knows my mind better than I do somehow, yet brings up videos that defend the notion that racism is ok. A ignorant, blind racist that 22 is.

  10. You had me listening and on the same page until you tripped up and showed why you are not a source of knowledge by putting Michigan in the names of Big 10 teams.
Not after you discredited all the teams in the Pac 12. By the way Utah owns Michigan in football. By the way Washington beat USC the last time they came to the Coliseum on a Friday. By the way I seem to remember at one time when the season was over you were talking up Arizona State big compared to USC and how we should be scared or something along that line.

By the way Michigan and Jim Harbaugh have never beaten Ohio State since Jimmy went back home to Ann Arbor. By the way they didn’t beat Urban Meyer. Ryan Day now owns Michigan. Michigan is considered the Tennessee Volunteers, Oklahoma State Cowboys, The New York Knicks of the Big 10 or CFB.

Thats means they are the poster child chokers.

    Try again Wolfmeister!

I. resisted the best I could, but never put down conservatives and tried to create just dialogue and tried to be open to information from the other side. I think MG kept it about as clear from politics as possible. Thanks, brother.

    1. Art,
You only have to know me from my comments on this blog. As far as defining a racist…I’ll let you swim in that soup. I’ve dealt with gang bangers from the inner city & billionaires from Woodside. My politics usually don’t get in my way. However, I cast a wary eye when someone tries to bring their politics into anything I’m involved in, in order to butress their position. I don’t play the victim & don’t tolerate other people who do.
You knew when you post to this site that it is an SC site. With your politics, you’re gonna take some flak. If that just dawned on you, well, that’s the way it is.
