Morning Buzz: Back To Work At USC

Today is the start of the first phase of USC athletes returning to campus for voluntary workouts. I’ve heard the initial batch of COVID-19 tests did not have any positive results.

  • If you want passionate USC alumni, talk to some of those who participated in yesterday’s Zoom chat on the restructuring of the alumni clubs that appears to give power back to the university while dissolving the 45 groups.

Several alumni said they were disturbed by the tone of the call because it did not seem as if their passion for USC was appreciated.

“These are the people who love USC the most,” said one.

“I could not be more disillusioned,” said another.

The bottom line is the meeting and new model seems to be one of those things that unnecessarily riled up alumni.

      3. Michael I have to ask, what does Larry Scott do that is worth being paid 3years of my average salary per month?
        I mean he doesn’t coach, he doesn’t deal well with mega media companies, he’s not even an average public speaker. The PAC 12 has become the Stanford of the west.

  3. Does anybody know if the hype videos guys are starting production before, or after the Alabama massacre? It would make more sense to start just before the New Mexico game, because it’s much more difficult to pretend after a 55-0 loss . 😃

    3. I thought the same thing; sure is an odd way to point that out if so. I think he meant “negative” but I don’t know how a reporter could mess up positive and negative in a COVID story. Unless you’re not a real reporter and instead a lazy troll (Scott).

Dissolving the alumni groups, canceling Tribute To Troy, ousting the Song Girls from basketball games and USC’s failure to fight the NCAA when the court found that the NCAA disregarded the truth in the Reggie Bush case to reach a “predetermined conclusion” against the USC football program…all have the markings of C.L. Max Nikias.

    Until that corrupt weasel C.L. Max Nikias is completely removed from any decision’s involving USC’s day to day operations, the mess he made and continues to make of USC will continue.

    Yes, the Greek Freak (I know he is from Cyprus) has been a problem for years. He along with the major in waiting and the new President need to go.

    SC does not need my money or support to survive so I have found other charitable organizations.

  7. The emancipation proclamation came about and signed in 1863. It only took the sec till last week to decide that the “stars and bars” might be inappropriate for display at their events. Gee, only 150+ yrs, and tbone somehow is proud of that.

  9. So let me get this straight, because I’m confused. USC disbanded Alumni groups? How? These people are alumni not students, free to meet when and where they please. They are not controlled by the whim of the revisionist hysterical administration of the school from which they have graduated.
    It seems silly to get worked up over idea that the University has the right to regulate former students, any more than the can regulate the he-man woman haters club.
    My guess is if the clubs mean anything to the members they will continue to meet. They will most likely stop monetary support to the school, but keep their name and members.
    USC could stand for any thing from University of South Carolina to Universal Sound Company. Trojan (in order to beat the tolls here) could be anything from Edgewood high school in West Covina of the 1970’s. I wouldn’t think the busted Trojan club of Westwood would mind being sued by USC.
    My point is screw the school call your club what you want.
