Last week, I gave the guidelines some schools published to allow their bands at football games.
This week, I can’t even imagine a band (or fans) in a stadium unless conditions start changing.
An empty stadium might be the only way football gets played in 2020. Have you “opted in” or “opted out” on USC season tickets?
If the season starts in January, and fans are allowed, you could be going to games in January, February, maybe March, September, October, November and December.
Here is why colleges would like fans to attend games: Michigan projects a $26 million deficit for 2021. Iowa is trimming $15 million from its athletic budget. Oklahoma is cutting $13.7 million from its budget.
- More than 2,500 people have signed this petition to save the USC Alumni Clubs.
- This is an excellent time for USC students to take a gap year! Especially when USC is raising tuition 3.5 percent for mostly online classes.
- Donna Heinel and Jovan Vavic are scheduled to appear in Boston federal court July 15 for a status hearing in the Varsity Blues scandal. Heinel and Vavic were told by a judge this week to prepare for a possible trial at a hearing to contemplate dropping charges.
- TMZ reported this week that Lori Loughlin and her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, resigned from Bel-Air Country Club after resistance from members who did not want them reinstated once they serve their prison sentences. Loughlin is supposed to serve two months and Giannulli five months.
- Per media reporter John Ourand, the Rose Bowl has had seven play-by-play voices in the past 60 years.
- Mark Neal, who played at San Fernando High School with future USC players Anthony Davis and Manfred Moore, died this week of an apparent heart attack. He was 68. Neal played wide receiver at Arizona.
- Did it ring a bell when Cormac Carney stepped down as chief federal judge in Los Angeles after making a racially insensitive remark? Carney played wide receiver at UCLA from 1980-82.
- This week’s memorable music performance took place in 1961 at the Shrine Auditorium:
- It’s hard to explain these days how big a sport track-and-field used to be. When USC went to Tucson to face Arizona in a dual meet in the 1950’s, it took a chartered flight and was greeted at the airport like celebrities. The fact the Trojans flew charter would make current track athletes jealous.
- USC went 79-0 in dual meets from 1951-61. USC won the NCAA title in 1943 and Coach Dean Cromwell didn’t even bother to go to Northwestern. The four-man USC team won the NCAA title but ran out of money and needed help from other schools to to continue their trip to Randall’s Island, N.Y., for the AAU championships.
- In the 1960’s, a USC sports official told football coach John McKay he would miss the spring football game to attend the Fresno Relays, which was one of the premier meets in the nation.
- McKay reportedly told the official he would not have a job when he came back if he went to the relays. The official went to the relays.
Cormac Carney’s “racially insensitive remark” was “saying the words “street smart”.

Speaking of racist remarks… I went to the Doctor because of rashes on my ankles and the dude told me I had “CHIGGER” bites. The dude had a medical degree from UCLA and an undergrad from USC! I told him why you got to be racist and he said that’s just the name… It’s not just a name to the black man!! Just like Rebel flag isn’t just a flag to the black man. It’s systematic racism rearing it’s ugly head again. It’s time we change the name of this bug to “CRACKERS”!! If you are not with me, you are racist!!

They are also contemplating playing ” Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing ” which is considered the black national anthem
Lift ev’ry voice and sing
‘Til earth and heaven ring
Ring with the harmonies of Liberty
Let our rejoicing rise
High as the list’ning skies
Let it resound loud as the rolling sea
Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us
Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us
Facing the rising sun of our new day begun
Let us march on ’til victory is won
Stony the road we trod
Bitter the chastening rod
Felt in the days when hope unborn had died
Yet with a steady beat
Have not our weary feet
Come to the place for which our fathers sighed?
We have come over a way that with tears has been watered
We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered
Out from the gloomy past
‘Til now we stand at last
Where the white gleam of our bright star is cast
God of our weary years
God of our silent tears
Thou who has brought us thus far on the way
Thou who has by Thy might
Led us into the light
Keep us forever in the path, we pray
Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met Thee
Lest, our hearts drunk with the wine of the world, we forget Thee
Shadowed beneath Thy hand
May we forever stand
True to our God
True to our native land

karma — I’ve heard the reasonable argument that certain statues ought to be removed from public places and placed in museums —as a simple matter of appropriateness. The lyrics of “Lift Ev’ry Voice & Sing” —while undeniably moving–I can assure you with confidence are not what most people think of as the best way to get ready to enjoy a football game. It makes more sense if “Lift” is played at a political convention or a rally……

Covid Schmovid…..

I’ve been studying the “science” on covid and some things are becoming more & more obvious —the official covid “death count” is twisted out of proportion by including multiple factor deaths as covid-only deaths, the dems are counting on covid to keep people out of work, out of school and, generally, depressed (which is why 9 out of the 10 worst unemployment rates are seen in dem states) and, finally, rising covid positive results aren’t as meaningful as CNN would like you to believe in light of the ever lowering number of hospitalizations.

They don’t count “covid only” anymore. Now if you check into a hospital, they test you and if your positive they count you as a covid stat. Even in cases of women going to give birth, if she’s tests positive, she counts as a covid patient now. Curious to me too that 6 out of the top 7 states with covid infections have dem governors and the 7th is Massachusetts who’s been run at county and local levels by dems for ever… they acct. for well over 50%, closer to 60.

Luckily for the dems, it’s relatively easy to rig hospital stats….but it takes our Justice Department FOREVER to move forward on prosecuting those who are manipulating medical records for political and insurance money purposes…..
[btw, the REAL legal test is going to come in 2021 when California tries to force all state and city workers to submit to a vaccine which will have provably serious side effects]…..

The Lancet is one of the top, peer-reviewed medical journals. Yet they are well known for allowing politics to overrun scientific findings. The mainstream media didn’t really report this story, but it is outrageous for the journal’s credibility:
