Why do USC coaches make it so easy to criticize them?
Clay Helton and Graham Harrell were totally divorced from reality this morning when discussing Kedon Slovis and his arm troubles.
“There’s nothing wrong with Kedon’s mechanics,” Harrell said. “I don’t know where he pulled that out of.”
Fair enough. But then Harrell kept speaking.
“I think the ball slipped out of his head once and it got into his head,” Harrell added.
Once? Did Harrell watch the Arizona State game? It happened in that game more than once.
Of course, Clay Helton has to make things worse by saying, “He spun it as well as I’ve seen last night (in practice).”
Helton also said the Trojans are “an extremely disciplined bunch, especially in critical situations.” Did he see the 11 penalties vs. Arizona?
Harrell also said he doesn’t want to waste practice time on snapping under center.
“I know it’s simple and can be taught easily, but it takes a lot of time,” he said.
Reaction: It’s a madhouse!
One guy gets 3.8 million and the other get 1.2 million, welcome to USC football these days, pathetic.

Biden: “Helton gets 380 million?!”

380 million is probably closer to what Senile Joe will get for the popular vote, aren’t Pennsylvania, Michigan, Georgia and Wisconsin still counting ?

I don’t know if Lin Wood will have all the evidence he needs in time to stop the certification process. But he’ll have it at some point. And Biden will wish he was never born when Wood has it all. Think of Biden as Frank in Scarface. And think of Wood as Tony Montana.

Mike, Who cares about Lyn Wood. Rudy G is heading up the cause now. What could possibly go wrong?

Thanks for chiming in, gt. Charlie actually was going to get the better of me on this one. I didn’t want to hurt [what I thought were] “your” feelings by saying Rudy is not the guy you want arguing this thing. He’s the guy you want slinging bullshit until you can find the guy you want arguing this thing.
“Goddamn you, Charlie. Goddamn you to Helllll!” [I can’t get that Planet of the Apes scene outta my head since the election]……

With Helton, these types of answers have become a way of life for him. He is a politician.

True, 67. Tuberville is pretty good at both. [But no one will ever call him one of the great coaches]….

Heston deserved SO many fucking Oscars! Planet of the Apes.
Soylent Green. Omega Man. Can any other actor claim a string like this? [God, I hope not].
[A bunch of my USC buddies and me skipped Physics class to see Heston in “Number One” —he plays a pro QB who completes a short pass and says in the huddle, “Okay, we kissed ’em…now let’s take ’em to bed!”]…..
We left…
Note: He was a nice man, though. My wife’s secretary at the City Attorney’s Office was President of his L. A. Fan Club and he came to their meetings twice a year and stayed for coffee and cake.

Thanks for the reminder, gt. Heston COULD be good when he played it as the decent, understated hero.

Both Helton and Graham appears to belong to the Paul Hackett club of denial. Their arrogance is nauseating.

Don’t mess with Hackett.
Hackett was very successful in NFL as assistant coach.
The same cannot be said about our current coach. Maybe Daniel Snyder can take him off our hands!!

Why won’t anyone call him out on his answers? It’s your job to report, don’t become CNN.

Well this IS interesting. I am not sure if this site is for me anymore. Each email address used generates a unique symbol that represents the email address. One person on this page has 10 such symbols generated for his username. That is some next level trolling. And none of messages upon this thread has anything to do with the the purpose of the thread. It has developed into a prepubescent name calling.

While I only half agree with you on this one, TO, it’s nice to have you on site without some of your less acceptable commentary.

“I think the ball slipped out of his hand once and it got into his head,” Harrell added.
This almost sounds worse than an injury, if he no longer has confidence in his ability to throw a spiral.
Strange Harrell would say this, whether there is anything to it or not.

Fro the times article..
“ Playing time was a concern for both moving forward. While Munir was suspended — and still rehabilitating a torn ligament in his knee — Abdul-Malik, a redshirt sophomore, didn’t play in USC’s opener and only played seven snaps Saturday in Arizona.”

It’s all according to plan. Think about it. Harrell has 8 NCAA records and is making less than half of the money the backup quarterback coach makes. Do the math. Why would Harrell do anything to make Helton look good. He can say he was following orders in refusing to snap under center. It is a safe bet he’s looking to move up the chain.
The offense will be “good enough” until Helton is gone. I do not expect improvement until we see a chage.

I suspect that Helton still “meddles” a bit with the offense.

If Harrrel said it was easy to teach the qb to go under center but it would take too much time, then he has lost realithy and specturm of football and waht SC needs. Under center is basic to football and you can have the qb sneak on 4th and 1. Witht this philspy, SC will lose a lot more games.
