USC vs. Oregon In Pac-12 Title Game

Washington cannot field a team because of COVID-10, so USC is going to play Oregon in the meaningless Pac-12 title game on Friday night.

At the very least, this stops the Monday morning whining about USC having to prepare for Washington and Oregon as a possible opponent.

“If we would have had a Pac 12 only schedule that started 9/26, we would have had way more wiggle room.” Washington coach Jimmy Lake said.

The surreal aspect of all this is the Pac-12 might make Colorado fly to Los Angeles . . . in case Oregon backs out.

    In all fairness, Larry Scott destroyed the PAC 12 football schedule, revenue, and preception of what people think of the PAC 12. Scott should have started in late September. This start date would have given the fans a better idea of what the PAC 12 could or should have been. To play only 5 games does not give a true idea of how the teams can be. Oregon and SC could have been the match up if they had played more games, however, withthe short schedule, we don’t see the entire idea of how these teams improve or not.

    3. Hmm…that would be a surprising choice. So many good coaches out there doing more with less. Cristobal had one really good season out of 10, and his lifetime W-L is under .500. And if he leaves, the NIke $$$ stay in Eugene.

    4. Oregon (at least Portland) proved itself to be a real shitshow this Summer.
      It’s not the peace/love/smoke a doobie/tree-hugging place they’d like to think it is. My very centrist friend from Portland told me tonight that so much of the downtown businesses have just shuttered since this Summer and that the homeless camps have taken over the shuttered downtown area. I cannot imaging why anyone with money or the freedom to move would want to work there.

      Mario might also be smart enough to realize that Pac-12 CFB is on a steady decline and that trying to re-build a program in the more CFB friendly South is a better career-move at a critical stage in his coaching life. Don’t see another Justin Herbert showing up in Eugene soon. Mighta’ made Super Mario look a little better than he really was?

  7. What I saw after tyhe ugly vs SC game was appalling. To see London start talking smack after the game and taunting just showed you how undiscplined the team is. Then to have Helton chase him and fall down is a sign that the players do not respect him. Helton should be dimissed for this. McKay would have not had this happen. Tell ya what, if i was the coach, I would have told the boys to get out of the locker room and get ready to run. I would have had them run for 30 minutes straight right there on the Rose Bowl field. That was disgusting.

        Don’t overlook how depressing Eugene is in the winter. Weather & their coach flirting with the exit or whatever he is up to –can’t be positive. A lousey season doesn’t help either.
        Always a chance the ducks could unravel at any time. Wouldn’t be surprised if several ducks hit the portal.
