Kedon Slovis Update

I’m hearing Kedon Slovis is out for any potential bowl game after injuring his shoulder at the end of the Oregon game.

Wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown is also expected to miss the game after he sprained his shoulder.

Will USC even play in a bowl game? USC is projected to play in the Alamo Bowl. But after losing to Oregon, would it surprise anyone if the Trojans opted out? Especially without Slovis and St. Brown.

  1. They probably should opt out. I’m not sure that they could beat a really good team even with those guys. Most of the team played fairly well against Oregon. But this is not an individual sport like track and field. It’s a team sport. In a team sport you’re only as good as your weakest link. SC’s weakest link is their O-Line and it is pathetically weak. Why they can’t seem to fix that is a mystery to me but they haven’t had a good O-Line since 2011.

  2. The players should opt out. ARSB because he should get healthy and prepare for the draft. Slovis because he got abused by his O-line missing every block (and they continued to pass, every time tipping off their intention to pass by the formation).

    And Gomer will want to opt out of a bowl, because if he plays any team outside of the Pac12, they will get punched in the mouth and exposed in a bowl game again.

  3. There is no Plan B for USC without Slovis [who was injured by Tim Drevno –not the ducks]. No Bowl for USC. Season over on the usual low note under Helton.
    Helton is even dumber and more self protective than we thought. In his presser he actually bragged about his “kids’ heart” and the way they fight back from adversity. THAT is not the game plan, jackass. Being behind and needing to show heart is not something you brag about. It’s something you want to avoid. How fucking dumb is this guy? No top coach talks like this.
    Speaking of really dumb, Claudette over at Sports Illustrated said the Trojans heard from their “infamous” alumni after the game. What the fuck is she talking about? The alums are being bad if they express dissatisfaction with the product mouth-breather puts on the field?

  4. I’d hate to see what would happen without Slovis, without ARSB, and without Stepp, who seems to have not fully recovered from turf toe. Part of me would love to see a Trojan bowl game, but I’m worried that they would get obliterated.

  5. This opting out garbage really pisses me off. If you are any type of competitor, and you’re invited to go to a bowl game, then you go, prepare your ass off, and do your best to win the game. If you’re injured, that’s one thing, but if you’re not, then you take the field. This pansy ass culture that has permeated the USC program is exactly why USC is in the shape their in.

    1. 99 times out of a hundred I’d agree with you — but this time you’re wrong. There is no backup quarterback (which is one of the reasons Slovis played the way he did all year —no one was pushing him — we couldn’t pull him when he sucked). Our team is not only built around the passing game….there isn’t anything to the offense BUT the passing game. Which brings us to the running game —it’s dead last in the lousy Pac 12. We can’t run for a yard on 4th and 1.
      Playing in a bowl generally helps your brand, Under Helton playing in a bowl on national tv kills the brand.

      3. Well if you are real men, you don’t quit. So you lost a qb and receiver. So you up and quit so you don’t look bad and can hide behind that instead of a L after a bowl game. If your team is deficient in an area, then own it and fix it. Bunch of quitters! and I mean the staff mostly. Just like the high level execs at companies like disney who claim in shareholders meeting that profits are down and they need to layoff 1500 people and not issue xmas bonuses. That cooks the books so that the next month they can say “see how good were doing, we deserve our 1/4 to 1 mil bonus”. Just play the schedule you are handed and deal with it the best you can instead of cooking the situation to spin a turd into not so much of a turd. For crying out loud they played 6 games. less than half of a normal season. Personally I think any school that opts out of a bowl doesn’t deserve to get their 1/13 share of the conference bowl money. They didn’t do their part so they get nothing. But Larry Scott is a pussy. If oregon and say colorado are the only ones that play, they deserve a 50/50 split. The pac 12 office deserves 0 cut too. Their lack of leadership has screwed the members.

And, that says something about the leadership at USC. This is deep, Cancellations are in order, permanently . This stuff is hard to watch, disorder. No imagination and one dimensional.

  6. Given the injuries being suffered by USC QB’s [Barkley, J.T., Slovis] playing behind butt-awful o-lines, it’s gonna get harder to recruit QB’s. Why would any NFL-bound player want to risk injury playing for a team that only knows how to throw but doesn’t value protection?
    AFTERTHOUGHT: I still think we have an excellent chance for the playoffs no matter what anybody sez. We need to accept our inevitable invitation and, then, move Matt Fink up to #1 QB…

  8. why do we complain after every game even when we were 5-0 as we could see through his bumbling incompetence. if we were to go to a bowl game and the competition gets better he will be even more exposed. but of course bonehead, not my folt and trustees are on blinkers as they only want a yes man to protect their own interest

  11. It doesn’t matter if sc was at 100%…they would lose with helton as h/c…
    btw notice what a real q/b looks like in those clemson/bama/florida games…they can run and throw, and real coaches make a difference…ND exposed again , everyone acted like their previous win over clemson ,minus their q/b was valid…what if ND had played clemson without their q/b? BIGGER SLAUGHTER than last night; the ND q/b is good and w/out him they are just avg…not top 10 material,
    maybe 20-25th, with him they are 8th-15th.
    Oregons weakness is their q/b…but they are way more physical than sc…they practice real football,a good q/b and they would have crushed sc. Next yr same old same old…CRAP.
