On clock management, Donte Williams said, “I have a plan … At times, it sucks when it’s not executed the way you want it to be done.”

Williams also said USC’s problems were personnel issues and schematic ones. Is that all?

“Our Achilles heel has been not being able to score touchdowns in the red zone,” Williams said.

Williams: “I understand a lot of people are mad at the results, but trust me, we are more mad than anyone can imagine as far as the results.”

Maybe Clay Helton is still coaching the team.

  2. The village idiot IS still coaching the team.

    Harrell still there. Orlando still there. Other coaches still there. I don’t see much in the way of a changed culture or improved discipline. I still see a QB who is frozen in the pocket, who takes way too long with his progressions, who can’t finish. His first year was his best. This third year is his worst. Slovis’s best interest would be served by staying another year and going through the portal.

    I see a university that is run by a completely incompetent and narcissistic BOT, who hire people who are paid enormous sums and who smile with their bleached teeth and try to snow everyone.

    Bohn has one chance to deliver, hope he comes through. This has been going on for over a decade now. USC alums should be outraged. Some are, but more need to be.

Here’s the solution to all USC’s football problems: Mike Bohn must do a thorough search for the right guy(unlike Pat Haden who had already decided that he wanted Sark and didn’t look very hard anywheres else). There are certain characteristics that you want in this new SC coach. But there is one characteristic that he must have…..His initials must be L.F. and his first name must be Luke.

  8. Donte should incorporate some of Clay Helton’s tired, worn-out coaching cliches into his comments to USC State Media. Kind of a dog whistle for them to be nice to Donte and call for him to be retained as HC with a 5-year contract.

  9. I am coming to the conclusion that great football at USC is a thing of the past. The problem starts at the top with Carol Folt and trickles down to that guy Bohn. She doesn’t care and he is incompetent. This doesn’t even address the issue of that idiot Caruso, who obviously, no matter what he
    says, has another vision for what he would like USC to be. One bad decision after another can’t be ignored any longer. So my conclusion to all of this ineptitude is step back and find a better place
    to spend my money. The glory days are a thing of the past.

    2. The only savior I can see will be if the deep pocket athletic donors refuse to open their wallets anymore. This would right the ship. But is there anything else that would?

      USC could have hired Morty Schapiro from Northwestern. He has principles and a spine, check this out in response to off the rails students.

      But the fact that he does have principles and has a backbone and would be independent are the reasons why the BOT wouldn’t hire him. I pasted his letter to students below.

      Over the weekend I received many messages of concern about protests organized by some of our students, among others, who are demanding the abolition of the Northwestern University Police Department.

      We, as a University, recognize the many injustices faced by Black and other marginalized groups. We also acknowledge that the policing and criminal justice system in our country is too often stacked against those same communities. Your concerns are valid and necessary, and we encourage and, in fact, rely on your active engagement with us to make your school and our society equitable and safe for everyone. That said, while the University has every intention to continue improving NUPD, we have absolutely no intention to abolish it.

      Northwestern firmly supports vigorous debate and the free expression of ideas — abiding principles that are fundamental for our University. We encourage members of our community to find meaningful ways to get involved and advocate for causes they believe in — and to do so safely and peacefully.       What started as peaceful protests have recently grown into expressions that have been anything but peaceful or productive. Crowds blocked the streets of downtown Evanston and nearby residential areas, disrupting businesses and local families, defacing property and violating laws and University standards. Some of the instigators appear not to be Northwestern students at all, but rather outside activists.

      While the protesters claim that they are just trying to get our attention, that is simply not true. Several administrators — including our Provost, Deans, Interim Chief Diversity Officer and Vice Presidents for Research and Student Affairs — have held numerous discussions with concerned students, faculty and staff, and I am participating in a community dialogue tomorrow evening that was scheduled weeks ago.

      Events in recent days seem to indicate an intent by organizers to escalate matters, and to provoke NUPD into retaliation.

      I condemn, in the strongest possible terms, the overstepping of the protesters. They have no right to menace members of our academic and surrounding communities. When students and other participants are vandalizing property, lighting fires and spray-painting phrases such as “kill the pigs,” we have moved well past legitimate forms of free speech.

      I want to offer a personal illustration of the pain these protesters have caused. Many gathered outside my home this weekend into the early hours of the morning, chanting “f— you Morty” and “piggy Morty.” The latter comes dangerously close to a longstanding trope against observant Jews like myself. Whether it was done out of ignorance or out of anti-Semitism, it is completely unacceptable, and I ask them to consider how their parents and siblings would feel if a group came to their homes in the middle of the night to wake up their families with such vile and personal attacks. To those protesters and their supporters who justify such actions, I ask you to take a long hard look in the mirror and realize that this isn’t actually “speaking truth to power” or furthering your cause. It is an abomination and you should be ashamed of yourselves.

      An essential aspect of education is the discernment of actions and consequences. If you, as a member of the Northwestern community, violate rules and laws, I am making it abundantly clear that you will be held accountable.

      If you haven’t yet gotten my point, I am disgusted by those who chose to disgrace this University in such a fashion. I especially condemn the effect of their actions on our friends, neighbors and other members of our community who are trying to sustain viable businesses, raise families, study and do research, while facing a global pandemic and the injustices of the world without losing their sense of humanity.

      I remain as open and willing as ever to speak to any member of the Northwestern family who has concerns about the safety of this campus and everyone who is part of it. But I refuse to engage with individuals who continue to use the tactics of intimidation and violence.”

    2. Not Orgerin, not JDR. What about the coach from Oklahoma State. The always have an outsanding team without a lot of talent. The last 5 years(including this year so far) they have finished 30, 30, 38, 34, and 38 in the recruiting standings. Yet Gundy is 143-68 and 10-5 in bowl games

    3. Orgeron is better than most state, just needed a great dual threat q/b like BAMA/Clemson/OK etc… usually get ,even sc…but they don’t know how to use them…’O’ also is a good D/C and recruiter of those linemen.
      DelRio would be like ‘O’ as would Aranda…they are winners ’cause they know the game.
      They know and can get realAsst football coaches.

  12. This USC team was not built to run the ball in the red zone, because that wasn’t Clay Helton’s philosophy. Mike Bohn saved Helton from the national embarrassment and looking like a fool by firing him when he did.

  13. Donte’s excuse’ “some of the young players are adjusting to the speed of the game.” Wow dude you’ve had these kids in camp since August how stupid are they?
    “There are repeat offenders on false start penalties, putting in a new face might backfire.” Do you practice the whole team or just the stupid ones?
    I get that USC needs a good recruiting coach, but putting an inexperienced person in charge might backfire according to the inexperienced person. Just another in a long string of mistakes made an inexperienced athletic director. Mike Bohn needs to move to the head of the line at the unemployment office.

      You wanna talk stupid? How fucking stupid must Donte be if he’s aware of our scoring problems in the red zone (and he’d have to be pretty fucking stupid to not be aware of them after half a season of fuck ups) but can’t see that ALL our problems could be solved by taking Slovis out as soon as we get to the 15 yard line….and replacing him with a QB who can move. He’s had all season to get Dart [or currently, Moss] ready for a FULL range of goal to go options. Leaving a pure, immobile passer like Slovis in the game is always going to result in zero points against teams with half way decent D-Lines (Utah, Stanford, Oregon State and Notre Dame —-and soon Arizona State and UCLA). Give the defense something NEW to think about. Leaving Slovis in doesn’t guarantee failure….. but it sure as fuck invites it….

  15. Caruso should be put on the first bus off the USC Campus. He is only looking after his personal goals, and his agenda includes the following:

    1)Become the Mayor of Los Angeles
    2)Purchase USC, tear down the school completely, and turn it into a magnificent urban shopping mall.

    Since the USC Football Season is destroyed Coach Donte should have 1 goal remaining, and that is get his team super prepared to BEAT UCLA, and ruin their season. That is the only game that will really mean anything.

    2. Yes –that would be nice. But I want to prepare you for disappointment. If Slovis starts at QB against UCLA all you’ll see is a team playing at 75% speed between the 20 yard lines…. & coming apart when we get into goal to go situations. Everybody knows to bring heat against Slovis inside the 15 yard line —he’ll throw outta the endzone or get the ball ripped from his hands while he’s going through Graham’s progressions.
      As a matter of fact, if we don’t have a different and more mobile QB when we get into scoring range on November 20th it will be a clear signal Donte is brain dead ….and that’s a coaching liability (anywhere except Mike Bohn’s Athletic Department)….

  16. The best cure for “RED ZONE DISEASE” IS A “DUAL THREAT QB”. For now start Jaxon Dart get him ready for the UCLA game we have nothing to lose. And in the meantime start recruiting DUAL THREAT QB’S- GUYS THAT CAN RUN AROUND THE CORNER WITH SPEED, and PASS THE BALL ON THE MOVE. Tell Harrell no more AIR RAID SPECIALISTS WILL BE ALLOWED IN RECRUITING OR HE IS FIRED TODAY INSTEAD OF THE END OF THE SEASON.

    Vince Evans, Rodney Peete, and even Carson Palmer had wheels Slovis is another Cody “Sling Shot” Kessler – limited mobility, and if no one is open take a sack. The problem is we are not recruiting top athletes at QB just gunslingers who are fine if you have an offensive line which we don’t.

    Coach Harrell was interview after the game, and he said the offensive stats should look good we moved the ball which means absolutely nothing since football games are won and lost inside the red zone.
