    1. Forget Edwards & Kelly. It’s just Wilcox. Bay Area coaches are legendary for dabbling in black magic and deception….

      1. MG and Big Bear going full on Galdalf v. Saruman in the wizard realm of mind tricks! I love it…but would that make me…?….no…but it would make Mule a lover of “f-i-i-shhh-zzzz…”

    1. Quarterback is naturally a team leader. The more experience and success Dart can achieve in 2021, the all the more better player and team leader he can be in 2022. He won’t be a “rookie“.

    2. Get Dart more O-line and WR help to better prepare him for 2022, Mr. Smith.

After watching a true gift get abused by the USC coaching staff and now have a career changing (ending?) injury, I see no reason for this lame-duck staff to risk Dart’s future when nearly all of them are leaving USC.

Slovis was lean and lanky as a frosh, but well-trained by Kurt Warner. Kedon got abused his first season. Helton earned a reprieve at the end of 2019 due to some due to thrilling play by the Freshman Slovis, but at the cost of a terrible injury to the kid.

      1. It’s 3 to 2 lad. Wilcox has honor. No wins but honor.
Chippy just stole our qb commit that went 102-0 in last weeks game.

Chippy is desperately trying to save his last exit on the road to career hell.

  1. I agree. I, personally, don’t think that Slovis is playing that bad. The only thing that Dart has over him is that Dart is more mobile. But he’s not that mobile right now with a knee that is still on the mend and I doubt very much that the coaches want him to run. I don’t think that you can win with 2 QB’s. You have to pick one or the other. In the long run Dart is probably the best option, He’ll probably have the job to himself next year because I’m convinced that Slovis will probably transfer out after this season.

    1. I agree that the only thing Dart has over Slovis is that he’s more athletic. And has a much stronger arm. And makes reads quicker. And commands the respect of the team. If you put that aside they’re basically neck and neck. 😉

      1. Mean…but true. Dart is a leader. When he’s 100% he’s gonna be a killer QB.

  2. Different circumstances, Rick Neuheisel redshirted Brett Hundley in 2011 which included 50-0 loss to USC. Neuheisel fired … he might as well played Hundley. Hundley beat USC 3 times in a row, but has been a career NFL backup FWIW.

  3. Maybe we will see him for ucla, but I doubt the others. Let’s see what Moss can do. Kedon’s best move is to use the portal and play one more year at another school.

    1. Dude, he’s going to the NFL. He’s not transferring. It’s not his fault USC runs a stupid offense. Harrell keeps calling pass plays when the defense is just going to drop 8 the whole game.

      Like

      1. That’s right. It’s all Harrell’s fault that Slovis takes 4 minutes to let go of the football. The NFL can’t wait to pay him $100,000,000 to bring his act downtown.

      2. Mike. Sometimes I wonder if you even watch the games. You know why he has to hold the ball? B/c nobody is open. They’re rushing three and dropping 8 into coverage. Harrell still insists on throwing the ball. That’s why the whole passing game has been throwing jump balls.

You guys just always think there’s some magic fix. You guys didn’t even come around on Helton until recently.

I mean, all you guys used to say was “Wolf is being mean because he’s jealous.” And, “You’re not a good fan of you are supporting the team.”

The reason we are where we are is because everyone drank the Kool-Aid. There’s no magic bullet, or in this case, Dart.

      3. Ok. I’m watching the next game…and coming back more prepared Saturday night.

      4. Slovis holds the ball, no two ways about it. You have no idea if guys are open or not, you can’t see it on a regular broadcast you would need all 22.

      5. Smackyd is nailing the QB arguments, my friends.
I only see Kedon getting a good grade from the NFL if he bulks up between November and April. Personally, he should play his Senior year.

These WR are big–yet seemingly slow and incapable of finding the seam in the 7-8 deep zone. The pass protection is frequently “adequate.”
This year is not on Slovis. It likely is on Harrell for not calling the right routes and not getting the right plays in on time. It is also on the WR corps.

Tahj and Gary and maybe Ford need to come up big vs Sparky.

  4. I am conflicted on using Dart. If we’ve burned through his red shirt then what difference does it make? Is he a 2 years and done player? Even if he stays 3 seasons, he could use the reps. Does anyone see the current whiff a block line getting better next season? Maybe with the portal and a competent coaching staff but that’s a big IF. So Dart needs to get used to the lack of protection.

  5. Redshirt is 5 games now so it’s still there. Like I’ve said, they’d be doing the kid a disservice to play anymore this year. It’s not worth it. It’s not like they’re going to be good next year. They can develop him then.

  6. Disagree- Dart should play maybe even start a few games. Redshirting makes no sense since he is going to go to the NFL after his jr class year anyway so it’s time to get him some experience now so he is developed early next season as a starter.

I would start Slovis though at ASU with the hostile crowd, and then bring in Dart in the second half if Slovis struggles. Might be good to use Dart in the red zone also where we need a QB that can take off and run.

One thing for sure is we need to recruit a dual threat QB it’s a necessary weapon to have in college football today. Defenses can shut down a running game, and a passing game but that third element of a qb capable of taking off for a 1st down is tough to stop.

    1. You legit think anyone is getting developed now? The entire coaching staff is looking for their next job. They don’t give a shit about any of these players getting better. I don’t get the logic in exposing him to injury in a lost season that might impact his ability to contribute in the future.

It’s not like he was getting half the reps in practice while he was out because of knee surgery. It’s not fair to him to throw him into the tire fire.

  7. Will Uncle Fester Clay Helton get an interview for the WSU, and TCU jobs???????? I hope he never gets another job in college football. Graham Harrell might get an interview with WSU since he has Mike Leach ties, and if he gets the job WSU will be doomed for years to come.

    Like

    1. Uncle Fester is not getting any interviews at any Power 5 school. His next stop is with his brother at Western Kentucky as QB coach.

Opie may get interviews, but no one is giving him a head coaching gig this year or next.

And to answer Smackyd, I turned on Gomer during the Cotton blowout against tOSU. We were outcoached, unprepared, and driven back on both lines (O & D). And after the game Gomer goes to shake hands with Urban and he yucks it up with Urban. Urban looks at him like he is the Village Idiot. I knew then we were doomed with this Bozo at the helm.

      1. At least Urban went along with the gag, pretended Helton was a coach…and shook hands with him….

      2. Clay Helton being known as Steve Sarkisian’s “Errand Boy” should have told you all you needed to know about him.

It doesn’t get much worse than being an errand boy for another idiot.

    1. Dart isn’t going to say he doesn’t want to play, just think how that would make him look to his teammates.

The coaching staff should know better and let him heal properly, but they’re idiots who are only looking out for themselves.
