USC-BYU Live Blog

I’m expecting a pretty poor crowd tonight at the Coliseum.

Let’s see if there is any booing if things start going south.

  1. Carol Folt won’t be attending tonight’s game. Medical personnel are at her home in Santa Monica attempting to remove her head from up her arse. FY✌️

  2. I just finished watching 2 really well coached teams in Alabama vs Auburn and Michigan vs Ohio St. I have forgotten what that is like watching dreadful USC football.

    1. Great effort by Auburn, but Bryan Harsin 6-6 … Chris Petersen already trying to push him for the Washington job. It’d be hilarious if Washington got a better coach than USC after this 3 years of BS.

      1. I wouldn’t be surprised if Washington or other weaker schools ended up getting a better coach than SC. I’m really beginning to feel that a lot of the coaches just feel that if you go to SC, the administration won’t support you because they don’t support the football program. There is no reason why a traditional football power like SC should be having any trouble getting a great coach.

    2. Except Harsin from Auburn shit the bed by calling a pass play on a 3rd and long with with 2:40 left on the clock with a QB who is suspect at best. That saved Bama a time out, which they used on the next series of downs. Combine that with the Auburn RB going out of bounds the next series, which saved Bama another timeout and Bama ties it up. Clock management was beyond stupid.

    3. I’m probably in the minority on this but I think Donte’s Trojan team is way better coached than Alabama or the other teams you mentioned….

      1. Yep, you’re in the minority……kindly of like the idea that Clay Helton will be the next president of the U.S.A……..definitely in the minority

    1. He’s a minority and he’s coaching at super “woke” Stanford. Clay Helton would have been gone long ago had he been coaching at (The Funny) Farm.

      1. Yes everywhere is woke anymore, but you expect more from the Hoover Institute. I don’t know if it’s a minority hire thing. Shaw used to be successful and maybe Stanford is just reluctant to pull the trigger on him.

  3. What about this USC football alumni committee advising on the coaching search!? You know, Carson Palmer and Anthony Munoz et al. You guys are terrible!

    2. Not really. If you’re a top QB you’re nuts to go to the SEC. I don’t know why they go to play against the best defenses in the country. I don’t know why they’d go there and get exposed. Why give the NFL tape to use against you. The smart move is go to a mid-tier team and dominate. No need to implode your draft prospects.

      1. Now that you mention it, that really seems the way to go.
[I guess every great QB thinks they can do their thing anywhere].

  5. Funny, they show Andrew Luck and John Lynch on the Stanford sideline as they’re getting smoked at home by Notre Dame. I see your Pop Warner, and I raise you Howard Jones.

  6. Any definitive news on Ingram? If he doesn’t play, USC is in real bad shape…. no threat at running back…. no long threat at receiver….

  7. How about Shawn Clark from Appalachian State as the new HC. Another guy I would seriously look at is Lance Leopold from Kansas. He has a phenomenal record up until this year(his first year at Kansas this year who were 0-9 last year and therefore needing a lot of rebuilding this year) and now(at the end of this year) has them playing great. I still say that the Fresno State and Oregon State coaches are outstanding. I’m just throwing out names since all the football pundants seem to be saying that none of the great coaches want to come to SC. There is still a ton of great coaches with great potential out there. Let’s not forget PJ Fleck from Minnesota. Also, Chris Klieman from Kansas State……another coach with a phenomenal record at the lower levels who has made Kansas State competitive even though the average great player has no desire to go to KSU.

  8. Smith just signed an extension at Oregon State

You threw out Fleck earlier, he signed an extension earlier this year

I agree on the Fresno coach, but it’ll probably never happen

    1. I don’t think that it will ever happen either, mainly because they are afraid that the fans wouldn’t accept it. But the way these guys are all deciding not to come to SC, whoever is left is sure to disappoint the fans anyhow so maybe they should go for someone like that anyhow. Once they start to win, the fans will change their mind.

  9. Two questions if (when) USC and Cal both lose tonight, they both be out of bowl contention should they bother playing next week?
    2. Why don’t they put out the cardboard cutouts? The stadium looks empty.

  10. Hard to admit it –but USC doesn’t have anything going for them —not one special player on offense or defense…. terrible coordinators…. and a interim coach who is SO over his head…..

  11. I’m probably in the minority but I think Donte Williams has really brought something special to this team —It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a team show so much confidence they readily trade a field goal against them for a touchdown against them…

  12. Y’all dunking on the Slovis about not being a team captain is kinda funny. The Slovis knew. He didn’t want to be the one to steal Petros’s claim to fame as the captain of the worst USC football team in modern history.

Dart has a strong arm but every throw of his is basically a YOLO throw.

    1. Try throwing to receivers who aren’t running tight routes and aren’t physical enough to catch the ball while covered (or fast enough to get to the “green grass”)…

      1. Same receiver Slovis had. It’s not like they suddenly decided to suck b/c Dart is the USC Lonzo Ball-esque program savior. You all shit on him endlessly while excusing Dart doing dumb shit. I don’t care one way or the other. I don’t like the judging of one for the same things the other is absolved of. It’s cognitive dissonance.

Paying more attention to the fight as Elmore makes me want to ice pick my ear drums.

  13. Worst USC defense I have ever seen. If you think the 1st half was bad wait until the second half when the BYU offensive line and running back just wear the USC defense down into the ground.

I hope Bohn and Folt are watching this game. It’s like watching a funeral at the Coliseum with so few people in attendance other than BYU fans.
Any head coach prospect we may have probably will change their mind quickly after watching this game.

USC should not be charging for tickets with this type of product on the field.

The latest rumor by the way is that the Iowa State coach turned down the job. Maybe we can get a HS School like Bruce Rollinson or a coach from a Junior High. Maybe Yogi Roth from the Pac 12 Network would take the job. No one wants to come here any longer and work for Bohn and Folt.

    1. Would you want to come to a team with players who stroll so slowly off the field during substitutions that we get penalized for illegal substitution? That’s a whole new level of indifference….

    1. We had just enough dumb mistakes saved up for last drive to blow the game —the clincher was throwing BEHIND the sticks on 4th down with 20 seconds left……
      #YouJustDon’tSeeThatTooOften
[This team did enough things right to win this game but they got jobbed by no review of a downed ball which was advanced and a ridiculous roughing call that erased an interception on BYU’s 20…and, then, they killed themselves by wasting long balls on receivers who aren’t physical enough to hang on to the long stuff AND throwing the final pass BEHIND the sticks…so DUMB]……

  15. Questionable play call on that last drive as they approached the red zone. 3rd down running play was stuffed should have thrown the ball there with two downs to get the 1st down rather than 1. I really think Dart should have taken off on one of those two down rather than try a run play, and then a pass across the middle which BYU was looking for.

All in all the offense played their hearts out as did the offensive line.
Dart needs to run more once he starts doing that he will be the guy to build the team around. The defense was worn down on that last BYU drive we have no talent up the middle, and at safety, and BYU clearly saw that.

Things happen for a reason. No Bowl Game is for the best this season needs to be shut down after next week.

Better get out and hire a coach quickly we need to recruit some defensive players or we will stink it up next year again.

  16. Key to that last drive was the 3rd and long running play call. This game should show everyone that you must have a defense to win football games. That last drive by BYU made our defense look very weak, and run down almost like a high school defense trying to stop an NFL team.
