Discuss The USC-Cal Game

Well, the season is over and it went out with a whimper.

USC’s offense was pretty awful, at least when it came to scoring points.

I’m not sure Graham Harrell did much to enhance his reputation in his final USC game.

What an awful ride for Donte Williams. USC had a depleted roster as Drake Jackson, Chris Steele or Hunter Echols were among those who did not make the trip.

Lincoln Riley is going to please the fans with almost anything he does after this debacle of a season.

    1. Great post Charles. I hope “hugs” was a typo for thugs

Helton allowed a culture of rap music at practice and lazy thuggish behavior from our men. USC streets have become unsafe like the rest of LA under Gascon Garcetti and Newsom radical leftist policies allowing criminals and thugs to run free.

It’s time Lincoln Riley restore order and discipline to our program. Bohn Folt and Caruso need to stay the hell out of his way.

Rebuild our program through white strength in the trenches. Get a guy like Jake Taylor to anchor our offensive line. Clean house of the lazy thugs who don’t show up for games.

Donte “Thug” Wilkins – don’t let the door hit you on the way out to the streets! This guy can barely speak English, how is he representing our program? Riley must do what’s right and purge the entire roster and coaching staff of Helton’s thugs and lazy scum. Make USC Great Again

      1. While I dont like the culture of rap music at all, your post goes way over the line to pure racism. And there are good players who are not lazy on this team, but the overall culture is horrible. The bad apples are poisoning the whole lot.

Part of the problem is firing your head coach after 2 games and then having an interim head coach who cant tell the coordinators what to do. Bohn/Sosna did not have a good plan for managing this year and Donte was put in a really bad position. So much of the blame lies squarely with a bunch of upper crust white guys – Bohn, Sosna and Helton. Bohn and Sosna have redeemed themselves with a great hire.

    1. Pat Haden on Clay Helton in 2015: “We have found our coach. He is a leader of young men.”

The USC team needed leadership desperately, and they never found it in Helton.

I think Williams tried his hardest. He had 2 strikes against him. I appreciate he didn’t lie to us like the grifter did.

      1. Haden was too busy with his own agenda to find time to do his job.
I will never forget my embarrassment when he came out of the stands to help Sark with bad calls from Ref. REALLY!!!! Who does that???? His legacy, along with Swann, is one of failure. They did more damage, by far, than the NCAA did with the draconian sanctions.

    2. The thing that is missing from this “team”, Carra, is the concept of “team.” The difference between the product USC put on the field last night and what we saw in the conference championships was startling. Dumb mistakes happen when you’re not playing your heart out for your brothers —in other words, when you don’t feel part of something bigger than yourself. Alabama understands that. Utah understands that. Riley will have to re-teach it to USC….

      1. Perfect!!! I hope those players, who want to succeed, will see the opportunity they NOW FINALLY have to be successful by being taught proper skills, attitude and teamwork. Yes, Saban said it all when he thanked the media for celebrating Georgia before the game and ignoring Alabama as out of the competition. It reminded me of the time SC lost to Texas in the National Championship and Mack Brown thanked the media for ignoring them because they could focus on winning without the disruption of interviews. Both of these situations showcase a team that came together as one with a single focus to win and PROVE THEMSELVES WORTHY.

    1. Well, not to be the Blog’s perpetual contrarian,
but Helton was dismissed after 2-games, so I
think it is misplaced Anti-Heltonism to blame
Helton for the entire 2021 season

I recall John McKay announcing in1975 he was leaving the
SC cheap-salad-salary-days for the big NFL bucks. SC offered
McKay a raise of agreeing to build a $5000 swimming pool
for McKay ad his family, while the NFL and Tampa Bay
cam around offering $5,000,000 and up. McKay’s National
Championship team from 1974 was 7-0 when McKay
made the announcement he was leaving for NFL riches.
The team ended up 7-5 in 1075.

These SC footballers are young men, some still quite immature
despite having the build of a small King Kong, so when their
quasi-daddy the coach leaves them they are distressed.

Can you imagine how stressed-out most of the SC players were
when Helton was fired?– Many probably went into non-reversible shock
because they had lost their sugar-daddy, the coach who brought
them sweet candies whenever his boys lost a big game, and never-ever
demanded they break a sweat in practice.

What in the name of hell or Helton is there not to love for a young Trojan footballer!? Now, they are probably in additional shock because they realize this Oklahoma
self-castoff Riley might actually require his new-boys to start breaking a sweat on the practice field and earn their $400,000 valued scholarship.

Fortunately, this ends a ten year nightmare that was orchestrated by the likes of C.L. Max Nikias, Pat Haden, Steve Lopes, Lynn Swann, Carol Folt, Mike Bohn, Rick Caruso, and the rest of B.O.T. Whether you people like it or not, the football program at USC is the front yard of the university, and as of Monday, USC’s front yard looked like a dumpster fire.
Hopefully, we’re on to better days when we can feel some pride about USC football once again.

    Dear Quitters,

I know you’ve already had to deal with the heartache that comes with not being coddled 24/7, and as such, I realize that the last thing you need is some old school fuck with his hard scrabble tales about life way back when. That said, the compassionate helper-bee side of me wanted to provide you a gift, in the form of a lesson, that you can refer back to after you’re playing days are over and you’ve hung the high heels up for good. Since I know a good number of your gen don’t like too many words and stuff, this lesson will make use of a couple of visuals to teach you about “juxtaposing just desserts” (JJD).
The first visual is something that should be perma-etched in your memory: an empty and lifeless Coli caused by traitorous little babies who’ve yet to realize the real, non-Clay world has no time, nor interest, in candy-asses.
The second visual shows something that will never, and I mean never ever never, be bestowed upon boys who take their plush-toy ball home so mama can dab their tears away.

Looking at the ineptitude last night, I can’t wait for LR to completely clean the stench of the Village Idiot by purging coaching and pressuring players (which they are allowed to do by the NCAA) to transfer.

As far as the rebuild. This is a bigger job for LR than what was asked of him at OU where he was given the keys to a Cadillac by Stoops. I think and hope LR will do well, but I think Aranda, Fickell, Whittingham, or even Cristobal (a former Offensive Tackle) would have been able to rebuild as well. As for Donte, his inexperience hurt the team, but I think he’s worth keeping. Some people say that he’s poisoned by Helton, but I believe Riley would be the antidote. He should have asked for a review of the incomplete pass that gave Cal the ball after a gain. Replay showed the arm going forward. A review would have kept it our ball and maybe a score. 1. My daughter went to HS and Oregon with Pittman. Since both are athletes they have seen each other quite a bit at the Athetic Dept gym and at the Athletic Dept Educational facility. She told me he is looking at both LA area schools. He would be a nice get as he is a fine young man.

      2. My lord! Now everybody and they daddy want to play at Southern Cal. Just keep stacking receivers and forget to recruit lineman or linebackers please.

  18. I found a new way to “watch” the SC-Cal 4-hour entertainment.

I got up at 2 in the morning to read the account of the game:
    3-0 Cal
7-3 SC– way to go Dart
    10-7 Cal– Bears got lucky
17-7 Cal– Maybe the Bears are not lucky, but good
24-7 Cal– Yep, the Bears are pretty good
24-14 Cal– Look at that Moss guy go– SC never gives up, never.

What a game!– Best part is that it took up only 5-minutes of my time.
