Miller Moss Makes Jump

Another observation from Lincoln Riley today:

Miller Moss has maybe improved the most of anybody on the team from (practices) 1 to 12.”

Think about it: Moss could improve more than anyone and still has no chance to start at QB unless Caleb Williams gets hurt.

  1. Is Caleb another piglet? I don’t think so. Once again the Clownster’s hold another pre-ordained QB choice competition.

    1. I think you are using the wrong comparison. You refer to Darnold as Piglet. JT was supposed to be the pre ordained candidate. Durning Darnold’s run Max was the granted one. Darnold was the one out playing everyone in practice and on scout team then comes in changes everything. So you are ass backwards on your analogy.

      1. Get your head out of your arse Vault91. This thread is about the improvement of Miller Moss. It’s of no importance though, because no matter what, Celeb will start as the bozo QB this year. Ordained, rather like JT Daniels in his freshman year. How did that pre-ordained scenario work out?

So my question still stands, is Celeb the second coming of the Piglet? Just asking for a friend.

    3. It wouldn’t surprise me the least if Miller Moss is a better quarterback then Caleb Williams. The media, and USC fanboys have pumped up Williams as if he’s the second coming, but if he was all of that, he would’ve been a starter from day one at Oklahoma. Stay Tuned for quarterback controversy during the season 😉

      1. I don’t know if we’ll actually have a “controversy”…but… I’m watching Miller on tape and we definitely have a solid backup quarterback. He’ll do just fine in a pinch –smart, athletic and a hard worker.

  2. Miller Moss the backup but not inconceivable that he’s worthy of some coaching praise. Caleb Williams stubs his toe in week 1, Moss is the guy.

  3. Moss seems like a great kid, recent interview below, no doubts about being at USC:

“Coach Riley has been honest and open with us and he really invests in his quarterbacks. This is so refreshing.”

  4. What do you mean Scott? This is nothing new. QB’s get hurt all the time. Last year was a great example, we got down to are 3rd string QB. There’s probably a 50/50 chance Moss starts at least one game next year. And after looking at last year‘s tape on Williams, In my opinion my Moss is probably the better passer. If we had an offensive line that could protect the quarterback Moss would probably be the better choice to start next year also. I hope Williams improves a lot this year but he clearly is a better runner than passer

    1. One thing about great running QB’s is they CREATE passing opportunities for themselves. I’ve watched a ton of Caleb on tape and I can’t count the number of times he starts to run —everything opens up —and he throws for a big gainer. QB’s like Caleb Williams drive college defenses crazy –ask Pete Carroll….

      1. Miller Moss is an outstanding QB. I wouldn’t take him over Caleb Williams but I certainly would take a good long look at him as the starter once Caleb moves on and not look at him like Matt Fink, the perfect long term 2nd or 3rd string QB. I wouldn’t have the mindset that Malachi Nelson is our next starter. Nelson must win the job.

  7. I check this site once or twice a day and if I have something to say, I’ll add my two cents. I know there’ll be trolls and my guess is there are some genuine haters who show up often.
Some come out to mock Trojan fans, others to mock the host and finally a group that mock blogs by enjoying the ability to post without credentials.
The homophobic, misogynistic, racist rants of people like TebowObama are the only entertainment the posters gets. They talk to hear themselves. They shout songs like 6th grade students in chorus class to get attention while pissing off students who elected to take the elective class.
Well there’s good news for the trolls who live their mom’s basement. Who have long since proven they are not graduates from our crosstown rival, with their posts being below the intellectual stature of young bear life.
The news is; not only is the spring game free, but there will be plenty of opportunities for the trolls to do what they do best. According to an article posted today in Scott’s previous life, there will be picture opportunities with Traveler, trolls are encouraged to stand near the south end of the horse. This way there will be pictures of two horse’s asses (the one spewing misinformation about the name of Robert E. Lee’s horse is the biggest producer of horse crap) Also there will players signing autographs after the game. It’s a perfect time for the trolls to call Polynesian players pussies to the player’s face, or use feminine pronouns about a lineman within the grasping radius of said linemen.
And finally (and I probably should have led with this) there will be bounce houses. What a glorious reason to leave mom’s basement for an afternoon of fun. You can get out of your own jackyard to backoff for a change of pace.

  9. –Just read where 1/3 of Millenials don’t even believe in the existence of God let alone Jesus being God.

For the other 2/3 that are on the fence, I write fictional short stories about Jesus the man.

You have to start with baby steps dealing with this young group before you blast them with loftier thoughts. Otherwise the God believers walk around reciting that old joke, “Dear Lord, save me from your followers.”

    1. John,
As a prosecutor I always kinda smiled to myself at the burden I was supposed to meet (proving every element of the charge beyond a reasonable doubt to the unanimous satisfaction of the jury) cuz I knew most of the people on the jury didn’t even know beyond a reasonable doubt whether they loved their spouses or believed in God. Most people today think it’s smart to sit on the fence — that’s what they’re told to do every hour of every day by almost everybody in any form of media…. which is precisely why I greatly admire the people who post here —everybody! — cuz they state their opinions without apology…. and Scott not only lets them –he encourages it….unless someone sez “t–o–o–l”, that is….

  10. Sad to see Kedon Slovis struggling at Pitt. His freshman season was by far his best. Then his shoulder got taken out in the Holiday Bowl, he hasn’t been the same.

Looks like Pitt could use some help on the o-line as well. Below from the story on Pitt’s spring game:

Slovis completed 10 of 21 passes for 64 yards with no touchdowns and one interception while being sacked three times on the day, while Patti finished 4-of-9 passing for 108 yards and took four sacks.”

      1. Cool, 67. Please focus on whether the o-line seems to be playing as a unit and whether Caleb is throwing accurately when he goes to his 3rd read. I’d love to hear your thoughts on these two areas.

      2. POTUS is completely out of it. Incompetent. But he is still better than the VP he picked. People think he picked Kamala for identity politics reasons. But now we see the old coot had a moment of clarity and picked her because Congress would be afraid to enact the 25th amendment and declare him unfit to be POTUS.

      3. Just re-watched Charles’ video –it’s the starkest example yet of how low Joe’s sunk. Let’s say someone was SUPPOSED to be there to shake his hand afterward. How long — even if you were totally shit-faced — would it take you to realize plans had changed? That nobody was there? Joe stood there confused for 10 seconds. That’s not fucking normal….

  11. Miller is smart to stay at USC and get coached up by Riley. He will get to play quite a bit later in games and will be a hot property to be a starter next year at another program.

Or if Williams gets injured he is QB1 at USC. Or maybe he gets good enough to start after Williams.

I would love to see him succeed and get into the NFL. He is a really great person.
