USC Friday Column Supplement

With Charles White featured in today’s column, here’s a photo from the 1978 USC-Notre Dame game. It’s White carrying the ball behind All-American guard Pat Howell.

Howell was a two-time first-team all-conference pick. He was a Playboy All-American and a second-round pick by the Atlanta Falcons.

As for this game, USC led 24-6 at halftime but Notre Dame and Joe Montana took a 25-24 lead with 46 seconds left.

Paul McDonald threw a 10-yard pass to Vic Rakshani (in motion) and a 36-yard pass to Calvin Sweeney with 12 seconds left that got USC to the Notre Dame. With two seconds left, Frank Jordan kicked the 37-yard FG to win the game, 27-25.

  1. It’s amazing to look back and see some of the opposing QB’s USC consistently played against in the past that you didn’t realize at the time how good they were or would become. Joe Montana in 1978. Aaron Rodgers in 2004. 2 of the 4 losses in 2009 were against Nick Foles and Andrew Luck. A 3rd 2009 Loss against another future NFL QB in Jake Locker. By contrast, there were two consecutive years of NFL Drafts (2013 and either the year before or after, can’t recall) where about 23 QB’s were drafted in those two years, but only one from the SEC (Tyler Wilson by Raiders in the 4th Round from Arkansas). Those so called great SEC defenses were never challenged by good QB play until Johnny Manziel showed up followed by Kiffin getting Alabama’s Offense out of the Dark Ages. After Joe Burrow in 2019 and Kiffin putting up 48 against Alabama, haven’t heard about the great SEC defenses that they have throughout the conference much anymore have we? (Georgia 2021 the lone notable exception, but did give up 41 points and over 400 yards passing to Bryce Young in the SEC Title game). A notable thing I saw with the SEC in the 2003-2011 was the lack of upsets within their conference due to the underdogs not having enough offense to upset one of the big boys having an off day.

    Whackos.

Also, it was Biden who claimed throughout his campaign that he had a plan to beat it. You were obviously one of the idiots who believed him.

Not to mention the fact that he said in Oct 2020 no one who has had 220K die on his watch should be President. I’m sure Dementia Joe has forgotten he said that.

How anyone could have been stupid enough to vote for a cowardly, weak old guy our adversaries were destined to walk all over is anyone’s guess. As a result, Biden voters also have Afghani & Ukrainian blood on their hands.

Speaking of cowards, wasn’t it Trump who told the cult members to follow him to the Captial building, then turned and took off in the opposite direction, the action of a true coward(touche) Fox/Newsmax has you all screwed up. 5. I have a theory on the SCOTUS leak.

I think it might be Roberts. He said he had problems with the reversal of Roe v Wade . What better way to make the majority backpedal and he himself calls for an investigation and he’s in charge of that investigation.

The daytime hosts are somewhat objective. Cavuto would call out DT when he said something that was bs. DT hated that.

Carlson, Hannity & Ingraham are not so objective. But they were smart enough to know JB was nowhere close to being fit for office. A person had to be stupid beyond belief not to know it.

Gutfeld’s show is good, but it’s not a news show and not expected to be objective. Tyrus and Kat Timpf (a Trojan) are great, as are most of his guests.

Why? Because his handlers know his brain is mush.

People with a brain knew long before the election that he was not mentally fit for office. We didn’t need to see thousand die as a result of his weakness & incompetence to know it.

That’s why morons like this one hate when we bring it up. They have a lot of blood on their hands.

Our offensive lineman in the Helton era could not even move at the snap of the ball yet alone pull on sweeps which was very rare in the air raid offense.
