Tight End Chooses Stanford

Walker Lyons, a four-star tight end from Folsom, committed to Stanford today.

He was a major target for USC and visited last month.

USC is still hoping to get five-star TE Duce Robinson of Phoenix, so it might not matter that Lyons picked the Cardinal.

And neither plays offensive line.

  1. I’ve read of Walker Lyons … Duce Robinson superior prospect. Duce, Matayo Uiagalelei, and Nyckoles Harbor are the ones you want to focus on.

      1. Apparently, the Trojans fanboys are going to have to do lots of pretending as they did under Clay Helton. Because the lack of commitments from top linemen continues, and will definitely catch up to them as they merge into the Big Ten. Helton’s teams lacked toughness because they never controlled the line of scrimmage, and were constantly pushed all over the field by lesser foes.

    3. I really think the recruiting classes will be very fungible until the end of the year and USC’s performance on the field could impact things alot. I also imagine that Riley is tired of losing recruits to collective money and something is in the works for a USC collective to happen. I know that the NIL stuff we put together will start to shine over the next year.

      7. You constantly compare USC’s recruiting to UCLA, why ? Why not compare the Trojans to Alabama, Georgia, or Ohio State ? That would be a laughable moment.

    2. Watch Robinson on tape. He reminds me so much of Drake London the way they throw him that alley oop and at 6’6″ he goes up and brings it down 90% of the time against those smaller D-backs. He’s pretty fast too and he runs hard. This guy reminds more of a wide receiver

      1. Exactly. Robinson is a one-off, two inches taller than the Drake, faster, not sure about speed, but he also has great eye-hand coordination (first-rate baseball player).

  11. As I said last week I am vacationing in the Boston area ( because you can never get enough heat and humidity) and I pointed out that I haven’t seen any Teslas here. I have seen a few charging stations but only one Chevy Volt. I hadn’t realized how committed California is to ridding itself of cars using fossil fuels. In California you can’t swing a dead cat (probably against the law) without hitting a Tesla. I mention this because of an article about Newsome’s kerfuffle over the Ucla move. It seems Newsome thinks he’s presidential material and needs publicity. He was in Florida making a commercial a few weeks ago and is pushing useless gun legislation. Newsome becomes president and I’ll buy Whoopie Golburg’s estate in whatever country she promised to move to if Trump won.
    And good for the tight end going to Stanford clearly choosing education over football glory.

    1. I was in DC last week, thankfully just for the day. 96 degrees, dewpoint was 74 degrees, the doorman at the hotel said “Sir, we are grateful it has cooled off a bit.” Talk about a swamp. The town is full of immigrants, and every one of them is so happy they are living in the U.S.
