This is guesswork outside of the top 3 or 4. ND would indeed have found the shamrock if they are in the top 5 at the end of the season. Plenty of upside for the Trojans depending on how quickly they can come together under Riley. It takes a while to pull out all the weeds by the root that the village idiot planted.

Oklahoma will NOT be # 9 –Brent Venables showed extreme political cowardice in accepting Gundy’s resignation …and the team knows it. You don’t terminate people for ‘pretend-virtue’ reasons —it proves you’re nothing but a phony. Players don’t play hard for phonies.

Gundy works there for over 30 years, and that is enough to get him fired? WTF? 32 years of tenure at the place and they dump him over that?

So weak on Venables’ part. Get some nutsack man!

If you’re a first year Oklahoma player you should be asking yourself this question: If that’s how Venables treats a longtime loyal coach —can I honestly believe he’ll have my back when some bullshit charge is made against me?”
#Answer: No!

Riley should hire Cale Gundy. Demonstrate to OU what leadership really looks like. You don’t throw people under the bus like that.

Veneables loves to talk tough…but…first time he was asked to step up and be a M-A-N he wet himself…..

Venables should’ve called Bob Stoops first who I THINK would have had more insight and courage. Switzer is shaking his head.

Carol Folt is cut from the same cloth as Neville Chamberlain. She looks for any and every opportunity to surrender.

And if Cale Gundy was merely reading out loud what an OU player had posted on social media, why wasn’t the player sent packing as well!? Venables will be at OU less time than Gary Gibbs who replaced Switzer.

OK just shit in their own pants, and they don’t know it yet. Everyone else can smell it though.

I agree, Charles and Steve —-Oklahoma’s head coach has been exposed as having the kinda chickenshit soul players love to quit on when the going gets rough…they’ll lose all close games…

I dislike anyone taking a preseason poll at all seriously. They are simply a scientific wild ass guess and nothing more, but they generate clicks which gets people money.

Miami, Wisconsin, and Texas would kick USC’s Ass up and down the field, they would demolish them at the line of scrimmage 😂😂😂😂. Why are the Trojans ranked ahead of them ?! 😂😂.

I have no problem with that. I’m not sure that being ranked way up there is a good thing. I remember, going into 2012 season, SC was rated #1 by many polls. Look how that turned out. They ended up going 7-6 and losing to Georgia Tech in the Sun Bowl. If what I am seeing is true, this team really thinks that they can be really good. Rating them lower makes them hungrier.

I’ve always preferred to be 15-25 in the beginning.
Our boys seem to let top 10 rankings go to their heads and overlook opponents. It’s not unique to USC. That’s why the Bamas and Georgias of the football world sometimes come out flat against Div II/FCS teams. But they always seem to come back and hold on to a narrow victory. We don’t.
Hopefully that’ll change under Riley.

Scooter,
This year is a crap shoot. The most important thing about this team is to get rid of the ghosts of Helton and get back to being USC football. If there are stumbles on the way, that is fine as long as they are playing football the way it should be, with physicality, dominance, pressing their will on the other team, discpline, and making sure that the other team will say at the end of the season that SC was the toughest team that they played. The following season will be the season to judge Riley. He gets a free pass this year.

I hope you mean 10-2 by “free pass”, P. T.

LR has never lost more than 2 games as a HC, even in his initial year at Oklahoma. This year he has more talent than he has ever had(especially on offense) and I think that he is in a weaker league. I don’t think that he will lose more than 2 this year.

As written before, Utes open on the road at t h e Swamp.
It will be interesting to see the point spread. Wilk they really have Utes at road favorite? My guess is Utes -2.5.
Tbe 15th slot for SC is fair but maybe high considering last year’s 4 and 8 record.
SC really needs to beat Stanford at the farm and play great defense against their star QB and TEs to generate real ranking buzz.

Teams ranked above UCLA by polling results: Central Florida, San Diego st., Fresno St., Utah St. Air Force, Oreo Cookies Plant 5. However, they did receive the same number of votes as Appalachian St. so there is something to cheer about if you are a Bruinette.

Well, considering Chip has a vote and Clay doesn’t … it’s not really fair to say UCLA actually came in ahead of Georgia Southern….

So sad to see cashiers actually having to look at the register to see that if I give a $10 bill and had $9.70 of goods, I’m due 30 cents in change!

SC plays # 5, # 8, # 35, # 40, # 51 and possibly # 14 (Michigan State) in bowl game
So, 3 losses, 9 wins, + bowl game toss up? But will they beat YouSeeLA? More importantly, will they rise to beat anyone higher ranked? Or will do they risk losing a game on the road to a lesser ranked team?

This was about the same ranking as last year under Clay Helton. Insane. We have a revitalized roster a real head coach with a real offensive scheme and a great staff that has overhauled the culture.
No way Oregon should be ranked higher. Coaches are afraid of a powerful SC, not so afraid of a powerful Oregon.
