USC Morning Buzz: Winners And Losers Of The Week

WINNERS

Jordan Addison

He has an NIL deal with United Airlines, which we are supposed to care about. I’ll be more impressed when some linemen get NIL deals. You or I could get Addison a deal.

Malachi Nelson

The five-star QB signs with Klutch Sports and then went 14-for-15 for 345 yards and five TDs in the first half of Los Alamitos’ season-opener.

Three-star recruits

USC’s gotten commitments from four three-star offensive linemen: Micah Banuelos, Alani Noa, Tobias Raymond and Amos Talalele.

Sara Hughes

The former USC beach volleyball star won her first Manhattan Beach Open title. And she beat her former USC partner, Kelly (Claes) Cheng, in the championship.

Jane Alukonis

She won her first game as USC women’s soccer coach, a 1-0 victory over Long Beach State.

LOSERS

Mike Bohn

He didn’t like getting bugged by Tennessee fans regarding Bru McCoy and had the athletic dept. release a statement on social media.

USC 2021 recruiting class

Already lost seven of 22 players in the class. Luckily the transfer portal makes up for it.

Caleb Williams

He’s new to USC but he needs to tell Fanatics not to sell his jersey with his last name on the back. No self-respecting USC fan wears a jersey with a name on the back.

Night Owl players

Today’s practice at USC starts at 8:10 a.m. That means you probably need to be in the locker room by 6:30 a.m. to get taped.

Fox Sports

It’s almost like a USC fanboy decides everything there. Imagine what it is like for the other 99.9 percent of college football fans to watch this promo.

Real McCoy’s tv show was awesome. You had Walter Brennan, a major movie star and Crenan, who later played in Rambo movies. Brenan had that song that he butchered, Rivers.

    2. No, no, no, Charles. You missed the memo I sent out about a month ago. In this woke world of ours they are no longer the USC Song Girls.

They are now USC Song. As Dementia Joe would say, “No joke.”

To refer to them as “girls” was misogynistic and sexist, according to the powers that be.

      2. Dumbass needs to learn how to read. Didn’t even mention Biden. But since she mentions it…

Funny that far left NBC poll released yesterday shows that 74% of the country thinks we’re headed in the wrong direction. The same NBC poll finds that 68% aren’t buying the White House’s bs about the country not being in a recession.

But fools such as her will continue to live in denial. Can see why she’s, no doubt, divorced, living in Lost Wages and always trying to claim she has “won” on a message board. A total loser in real life, she has to try and claim to be a winner somewhere, somehow. As someone suggested yesterday, she should get help. She desperately needs it.

If Biden is such a failure, why are Dems ahead in early polling for midterms?…..Wait, that question is far too advanced for your limited mentality.

Can someone help me dumb-it-down more, so the blog dunce can comprehend?

      4. What a fool. To just use an expression that Joe uses over & over again (to make it clear I was not trying to make some kind of joke) is not the same as slamming him for his many failures.

But I suppose I’d constantly be on the defensive, too, had I supported all of this. Also love the way she ignores the sentiment expressed by the NBC poll. Holding on desperately and demonstrating how 25% of the country is in complete denial.

You have already referenced Biden 10 different times and it’s only noontime. Fucking brain-dead

Let me repeat AGAIN!!!!! I’M A SUPPORTER OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY, YOU COMPREHEND?….(doubt it)….. In 2020 it was anyone but trump. I vote along party lines and Biden was the person who won the Democratic nomination. Had it been someone else, they would have received my vote.

Yet you take zero ownership of the disaster you voted for in 2016 and 2020….fucking hypocrite!

NBC…..TOOOO FUNNNNY!…… TRUMP HAD WORSE NUMBERS……WAIT YOU CAN’T MEMBER BACK THAT FAR!

This from a little bitch that tries to claim he’s a real man. Yet can’t take responsibility for his OWN decision. Has to blame the party.

Too funny!! As I said before, no wonder he’s divorced and living out in the desert. She didn’t want his pathetic, blame-everyone-else-I’m-a-victim ass anymore.

  2. So Jordan Addison gets a sweet United Airlines NIL deal. Can’t you just see an exchange between him and one of his unnamed linemen:

Unnamed: “Hey, Jord, how’d you land that United deal. Sorry.”
Addison: “Don’t know, it just flew into my hands. Sorry too, back at ya”
Unnamed: “How cool you get United money playing in their stadium”
Addison: “Yo, I might get some extra pub now”

  3. Loser this week: Actual football news. Between needless posts about being first, mean slightly demented copycat posts and stupid non-news items I see very little to hang my hat on. Who cares if Jordan got a deal to make commercial? Does anyone care who’s on the Fux sports show? Everyone hates Biden, some more than others. Have I ever been first?
I wanna know if our center is snapping the ball twenty feet over the quarterback’s head. I wanna know if the players are making the same mistake every play. I wanna know who Korey Foreman is. There are 11 days and then football, wake me in 10 days ( so I have time to get the latest fanboy clothes ready)

  4. Baker Mayfield named Carolina starter over Sam Darnold. Darnold ended up on some bad teams, but could’ve used another year in college like Mark Sanchez. Riley has three starting QB’s in NFL.

    1. Mark Sanchez, Sam Darnold, and Matt Leinhart were surrounded by loads of talent in college, which made them look better then they were. One more year of college would not have made any difference, because you either have or you don’t. Now Carson Palmer had it, and if he came out of college early, he still would’ve had the product career that he had.

      1. As one porcupine said to the other porcupine, “Good point, Dave!”

The staple of an NFL qb is a quick read-and-release of the ball. Palmer had it, but couldn’t teach it to his successors.

        Liked by 2 people

      2. I’ll agree with you about Sanchez, Darnold & Leinart succeeding in large part to their supporting cast. But Sam, unlike the other two, has a ridiculously competitive spirit and will to win, (not unlike Tebow’s).

I do hope we’ll get to see more of him on Sundays. But you’re right, none of them are Carson Palmer.

        Liked by 2 people

      3. One last thing about Sam that was somewhat unique…

You never saw him get too up or too down. He knew everything could change in a flash.

      4. You’re right, Cal. But at least he didn’t feel the need to lob childish insults in presenting his thoughts on the matter. I’ll give him credit for that.

And as LJ and I noted, he wasn’t all that wrong. Seemed a reasonable objective opinion. But you’re right. Why the need to post under so may names? Who knows.

        Have a great day!

      5. Matt’s arm was never the same after surgery. Sam was undisciplined because he had inadequate protection. He created a bunch of miracles, but that approach doesn’t work so well in the NFL. Sanchez…who knows. He had the arm, but was definitely inexperienced. Then he went to the black hole of the jets.

      7. I believe Carson “the Bomber” Palmer had one (1!!!) big game in his career: the 2015 NFC Championship game vs the Carolina Panthers.

Panthers 49 – “the Bomber” 15. In that game, Palmer literally, singlehandedly cost AZ any chance to win; “the Bomber” had five (5!!!) TO’s; 2 unforced fumbles and 3 ugly INT’s in the game. Palmer cracked under the big game pressure.

Yeah, Carson Palmer had it – LOL.

He should have never won the Heisman, as the there were more deserving players with better career stats. In fact, in the years before Palmer won the Heisman he had thrown more INT’s than TD’s.

Yeah, Carson Palmer had it. What a Clown U joke!

    2. You’re way out of line, Charles. Clay and his little brother did a LOT more than just get their QB’s ready for something as trivial as the NFL —they taught them “to start the day off with Saint Mark.” [btw, Ever since Clay made the video of HIMSELF reading a mini bible & quoting from Saint Mark I’ve switched over to Saint John’s Gospel —I can’t think of Saint Mark in the same way —it’s kinda like what Will Smith did to Independence Day]…….

      1. Michael, I would not give up on Mark so easily; for those who trust in the New Testament, Mark is the most trustworthy.

John, not so much. Too much embellishment!

      2. To tell the truth, I’m still a Saint Mark guy myself, John. [But there’s a lot more poetry in Saint John —-which I think of as another form of truth]……
        P. S.
I still wish Helton had not made that self-serving, ‘good boy me’ video — as Gore Vidal once commented “when someone quotes the bible out of the blue in a public setting you just know you’re in the presence of a wholly evil individual.”

Yeah, in real-life he plays a bad guy, but in the movies, as in Bagger Vance (spelling>) he is nothing but cool-and-good.

    1. Someone who wants to shoot their mouth off (especially in Hollywood about politics), no big deal. I can separate that from their artistry.

But to physically attack someone at a formal event meant to celebrate their work and THE FREEDOM THEY HAVE TO EXPRESS THEMSELVES ARTISTICALLY?! No.

Maybe time will heal that wound, but not any time soon. Classless.

      1. So Cal,

That was not Will Smith’s first time to take a swing at someone. He did it in the 1990’s and early 2000’s. That was not the first time nor the last time that he will do that. I am waiting for the day when someone snobberknocks him into the the next century and then they hire Michael and Lawyer John and go after Will Smith for assault and intent to hurt.

    2. Well, 67, my thoughts about Smith certainly translate to the football field!

I’ve often posted that I hold no ill will towards Clay because I don’t think he’s a bad person. But the one thing I will never forget during his tenure was the lack of discipline displayed by his players.

The personal fouls, especially dead ball fouls, were ridiculous. I hope Riley doesn’t stand for it.

      1. At one time, Clay seemed to have been a decent, good guy, and that is what probably led Haden to hire him as HC. But Clay changed. He refused to be held accountable. He ditched assistant coaches like chip eats donuts, he hired new assistants who were deficient. As you note, there was no discipline, the players didn’t respect him. He played Swann like a fiddle, and he never once faced the fact that he wasn’t a power 5 HC. He kept pretending, and he never tried to become a better HC. Lord knows he was given the chance to get better. He just trotted out the same platitudes and yada yada every year. He doubled-down on his own failures, year after year, and we are still paying the price for that. So the decent guy he once was has disappeared.
