Did Lincoln Riley And Caleb Williams Really Have Adversity?

Lincoln Riley talked about himself and Caleb Williams today: “Could you have gone through more as a player and a coach in a calendar year?”

Give me a break.

The fanboys will agree with Riley but I wouldn’t say they went through a lot of adversity. Riley’s making $10 million a year and living in a $17 million house in Palos Verdes. Williams has more NIL deals than just about any player in the country and was anointed the QB

Both made their own choice to leave Oklahoma for USC.

If you want to talk about adversity look at USC players who had Lane Kiffin, Ed Orgeron (interim), Clay Helton (interim), Steve Sarkisian and Helton as head coaches in a four-year career. Or the offensive linemen who had five different position coaches from 2012-2017.

That was adversity.

    Wiley could have held out for a $200-Million contract instead of the measly $110M, and then bought himself a real house for $30M.

    1. The rebellion is very encouraging and it seems to be feeding on itself. The fraternities are dropping and now we have this rogue organization to push the alumni. Maybe Folt was the right hire because someone more moderate and reasonable wouldn’t have provided the incentive to fight on.

  12. Riley did not say adversity. He just said “a lot”. Uproot your family from Norman to LA, find and buy a house, oh and completely rebuild a college football program. I would say they put in “a lot” of hard work and done a great job and it is paying off for them. But all the poor bitter reporter can focus on is money.
