My Pick On USC-Rice Game

The Lincoln Riley Era is officially underway in a couple hours.

I’ll admit to being jealous that Oregon plays Georgia today.

That’s a game.

USC? It plays Rice.

That’s a decision the Trojans made in 2015 so thank Steve Lopes and Pat Haden.

Once USC moves to the Big Ten, it won’t matter so much because there will be a lot tougher games.

But I digress. I’m taking the Trojans today, 48-16.

The spread is 32.5, so that would mean USC does not cover. We’ll see. I assume USC will score a lot of points. I have questions about the defense. But will it matter vs. Rice? Probably not.

  2. It will matter to Grinch. What he does about it will tell us a lot. Yes, I agree, USC will score a lot of points and hopefully in many different ways with different players.

  3. As no one has seen either team play I legit have no idea what will happen. USC will win. The two things I find interesting is (130 D1 Teams) last year Rice had the 120th rated defense and were 10th in time of possession. USC can’t run the score up without possessing the ball. If USC scores too fast there defense will spend a ton of time on the field in this heat.

    I think the heat is going to play a bigger role than people think. I wouldn’t be surprised if USC went run happy just to keep the clock moving so players don’t have to stand in the sun for longer than need be. Tired players lose concentration and get hurt. No need to be a hero today. Take the win and move on.

  7. Your 48 for the Trojans is interesting! They need 49 to cover, using your 32.5. You’re banking on a future talking point that the Trojans couldn’t cover the spread against a lowly Rice team.

    There is no sealing on how low you will go….But hey, it’s your conscience!

  9. The seats that are coverd at the ugly game is more than the attendance. The Rose Bowl is losing its shirt. They should had ugly pay the full amount, rent, receipt of the gate, concession, parking, all up front for the entire season. If ugly could not meet the figure, let them play at Sentinel Field in Inglewood. That is close to Sofi and it is very large for a high school stadium.

    Ugly is taking it’s time to get the game over. It won’t be over until way past 3 pm. That sucks because we will miss the kickoff for the SC game. PAC 10 Network sucks. They should have started the SC game at 3:30 P.M.
