Five-Star USC Target Commits To Texas A&M

T.J. Shanahan, a four-star offensive guard who visited USC in June, committed to Texas A&M today.

It wasn’t a surprise but Shanahan had USC in his final five with Georgia, LSU, Texas and Texas A&M.

Rivals lists Shanahan as a five-star prospect. Others have him a four-star.

USC’s quest for non-three-star linemen continues.

  2. Glad to see Riley here rather than Helton, but still playing the What If game in my mind. Coach O’s Offense versus Riley’s Defense in 2019: (Plays-Yards on TD Scoring Drives: 3-42; 9-75; 6-86; 6-80; 6-55; 2-75; 5-63; 13-74; 9-75, Hope the New Coach took something away from that game.

  4. USC will never win out over those schools recruiting offensive linemen. So expect more of this in the future. Lincoln Riley didn’t help himself by passing the ball as many times as he did against Rice. Top 4&5 star linemen want to play smash mouth football every now and then, that’s not Riley. Sorry Trojans fanboys

    1. I’m sure every OL recruit checked the post game stats and to their horror saw that USC passed 2 more times than they ran the ball against Rice. A pass/run breakdown that is comparable to every other major FBS team. However, those 2 plays may have actually put USC on an irreversible course to club level from FBS before Riley’s contract is up for renewal.

      2. I do think that sooner or later LR will build a wall around the SoCal talent. He has to. We just can’t allow outside teams to come into SoCal and take our best talent from under our noses. He hasn’t done that yet. Hopefully, he will.
        I’m really afraid we are going to lose Matayo from Bosco. I think that he’s going to Ohio State. If there is a place where we need people it’s on the interior defensive line. We can’t afford to lose him and I think that we are going to.

        the SC qb’s were never sacked against Rice. If Helton was coaching, Slovis, Daniels, Moss, or Dart would have either been injured, sacked or had been running for their lives with Helton.

  11. How the team performs on the field will make a big difference this year. One of USC’s big problems is that we are playing the NIL game cleanly, so the talent athletes get paid alot more, but the linemen and other non-glamorous positions get alot less.

    Let’s see how things shape up later in the year.

    We do need to show that both sides of the line of scrimmage are being developed.

  12. Let all of us just take 1 game at a time and hope this team shows improvement each week. The skys the limit for this team.   15. I see that Oregon just got two highly rated D-Linemen who committed a day or so ago. I’m still smelling Uncle Phil and his money. Why would these two guys pass on USC after SC’s great opening and go to Oregon after Oregons disasterous opening?…..especially when they are both from Arizona. Arizona is within driving distance of SC. Oregon is a long drive from Arizona.
