Here’s another example of when does hype meet reality?
We keep hearing from everyone at USC that wide receiver Randal Grimes is talented and dangerous. Not to mention tall (6-4).
So why doesn’t he play?
Is he not good enough? If not, why is there so much praise for him in the offseason? The problem is once the season starts, the coaches do not tend to answer questions honestly about why specific players are not playing. So instead, the hype simply remains unfulfilled.
- USC quarterback coach Bryan Ellis said after JT Daniels’ first career touchdown pass, a 43-yarder to Amon-Ra St. Brown, that Daniels matter-of-factly went back to the sideline and said, “Nice call, coach.”
So does that mean Ellis called the play?
- Former USC wide receiver Darreus Rogers signed with the San Diego franchise of the Alliance of American Football league.
Gomer doesn’t even know Grimes is on the team, and Tee IQ 11 can’t handle processing more than 2 players at once.
If it was a pass play, doesn’t that mean Tee IQ 11 called it ? Or does he only call plays on certain downs, time of game or when he’s awake ?

Whatever they decided to call it worked significantly better than what Chip called for your bruins. 17 points, you should be fired up.

How does it work Michael, when too much money is bet on one side they move the points so the other sides bets balance out?
I haven’t heard any news that would move the points yet.

If it was Ellis that called the play, here’s a thought: that same call could have been made after UNLV’s first quarter, first down turnover….. with the same result.

Why don’t they call touchdowns on every play? Gee, that’s what I’d do.

Interesting stat from the game. When they put Amon-Ra in the slot position in the first quarter, about 6 times, he threw it to Amon each time.
I think the setup was to make JT as comfortable as possible. And they sure looked like that was accomplished. In the second half, JT went 9-12 and a td. Not bad numbers.
Could they have done it, probably.

Doesn’t everyone still think they call plays by committee vote? Don’t they still run it all by the line coach too? I heard from my “sources” the strength coach called several run plays.
In actuality, one guy is calling from a menu assembled by the analysts and staff. Whatever Daniels said to Ellis means nothing. I could see with unlv the testing of certain plays with different players in, getting looks at guys. I do agree with Pudley though, just call touchdowns for every play and let the guys with the flash cards pull out whatever they want.

Soon enough, maybe next year, maybe even this yr, JT will have Carte Blanche to do as he pleases. Then he’ll just call td on every play, even punts and field goals.

Again, have to question the “inside” in “Inside USC” if you can’t get a simple answer to a simple question on Grimes. Maybe his command of the playbook is not on point – which is exactly why Jack Sears is #3 and not #2 on the QB depth chart. It’s an entirely reasonable issue. I’d suggest you pose that to Tee Martin, Scottie. you’re not new to this. Don’t look to embarrass the person to whom you ask a question.

It’s hard to act like you know something about a topic when you’re A L W A Y S wrong. Most of us here realize football is all about theory. Mostly. If it wasn’t all teams would have the same type qb, run the same schemes on offense and defense.
Krapma feels his need to be dogmatic from his lack of any real knowledge. I’d put it to you that he doesn’t even watch the games. At least with his eyes open.

For USC to win this game we have to make it a high scoring game. This early in the season they will have to let JT play his game and what he is confortable with. If you see hos games last they simply outscored thee better teams in a scorefest. I think USC has the better defense. JT beat Costello as a freshman at MD 49-12.

Sounds real good to me, Fighton. Stanford doesn’t have the best defensive backs in the world. We just need to give J. T. time —-and that shouldn’t be impossible either —-Stanford doesn’t have the best d-line in the world.

Wow at the top of the page it says 37 thoughts on Morning Buzz, but actually there about five thoughts and thirty two taunts about manhood.
To answer the question about Grimes, I thought he was injured but maybe he’s under wraps or just not standing out.
As for the “good call comment” it is entirely possible the coach in question is responsible for signaling plays to the quarterback. This would be the logical answer, but maybe the coach simply said go score a touchdown and let JT choose the method.

Correction. 39 thoughts about manhood (some more subtle and a few more football-oriented than others).
