Happy Easter!

In 1952,  you could get your “Trojan Jacket” or letterman’s jacket for Easter Vacation at the Trojan Shop. The shop no longer exists, obviously, and is across the street from the Target in the USC Village.

Here’s the 1949 coaching staff in their Trojans’ jackets.

    1. Scott is #1 — not just during the obvious “we’re in Notre Dame week” times —but all year long —I can’t even imagine how he finds the inspiration to keep our tribe going day in and day out, year in and year out….. we should all appreciate this —we’ll never see anything like it again…

      1. Haha well. It was fresh northern halibut. Boiled potatoes. Fresh red beets and turnips. And two Hershey bars for dessert all prepared and served by my loving wife of more than twenty five years. Am I a lucky dog or what??. How about you my very good friend ??

      3. Hah. I’ll settle for the JAN 2023 National Championship game after the 2022 season concludes. We would be 14-0 at that point and I would bark FIGHT ON. AS WE WIN THE GAME AND ROLL UP THE SCORE !!!!!

      4. butterflied leg of lamb going on the grill as we speak, along with some asparagus, Caesar salad (in honor of Scottie’s nickname for Pete), rice pilaf, lemon cake.

SoCal, popping a Russian River pinot noir with the lamb.

      1. I regret [“regret” cuz I know how small this sounds] to say my day is going to be extra special since I literally stopped my in-laws from coming over today with a last minute email saying, “let’s pass this year, okay?” I couldn’t take another holiday with them talking about how there’s one justice for oppressors and another for the oppressed —with them giving Carol-esque definitions of oppressor and oppressed and justice. I’d rather have Owns over.
I feel bad …but life is short and I think the wording of the email assures me of not spending another holiday with them….ever.

Tonight, couch for thee. Just as an aside bud, you owe them a heartfelt apology. You are old, they are older and no need to treat them this way. Really! Do you really want them to think of you negatively? Apologize!! I dispise my libtard relatives but don’t shun them……..( Just the grifters).
And I have some really good reasons, too. Take the high road.

Blame it on the flu or something.

Pardon me for changing the subject but to get on track with 1949 jackets… CAL finished third in the final poll in 49 and 5th in 1950. Whipped SC both years and went to the Rose Bowl both years. Wonder why Sir Scott forgot about that?

      3. I came to you for cheap forgiveness —and what do I get? A sincere reprimand. I hate you, Cal75! Oh, fuck it–I’ll make it up to them [Besides –I’ve been going around all day bringing cookies to sick neighbors in penance –it’d be easier & take less time to just bite the bullet with my in-laws].
The back up QB on one of those Cal Rose Bowl teams was former Assemblyman and Dean of JFK Law School, Ken Meade. I took over for him when he’d had enough —but before he left JFK we used to walk over to Civic Park in Walnut Creek and complete passes to each other by throwing over —and sometimes through —a pagoda in the center of the park.
        P. S.
I know I’m going to regret letting my wife’s family back into my life.
Each time I feel pain I will utter a curse [with guess who as the object of the sentence]…..

We did yardwork earlier. Watching NASCAR now.

Our new pup got a little too excited when I slid the screendoor open and in running to see me, slipped on the edge of the pool and fell in. But before I got over to lead her to the stairs, she had already lifted herself out of the deep end! Whew!!

Hope you are having a good one!

  2. Hey George. I live in Pasadena and always have leg of lamb for Easter. But I could not find it this year and my local Vons. I love lamb and it reminds me of the passover meal. It is particularly fitting for Easter. What is going on with the inability to get reasonably priced lamb? I ate a prime rib dinner with potatoes and a good red wine, a really nice meal but I miss my Easter leg of lamb.

Seriously? 15 months into this administration and you have to ask?!

He was told throughout 2021 that if he just kept printing money and paying people to sit on their butts at home, that it would lead to inflation. But Dementia Man failed to heed the warnings.

It’s not the multi trillions spent on imaginary benefits for the 374 newly minted categories of victims , it’s not the costs associated with allegedly free medical, education and housing for illegals — which, btw, never gets to them, it’s not closing down our energy production so we can get screwed by countries who expressly state they hate us —- “It’s Putin.”

Did you hear Psaki say, “We aren’t sending the President to Ukraine.”

Who is this “we” that is actually running the country? Can you imagine them trying to tell Trump what he could or couldn’t do?! That’s exactly why Putin knew he could do whatever he wished. Xi will do the same.

The idiots trying to convince themselves that all of this would be going on even if Trump were still in office are only kidding themselves.

  5. My fondest Easter memory is when I was 8 years old and I asked my dad if I could hide in the bushes all night so I could see this Easter bunny in action. My dad said “No”

Reminds me of the joke where one kid asks another kid about Santa Claus. “Naah, that’s all nonsense. My old man is everything from Santa, the Easter bunny to the devil”

  6. Michael: You might consider inviting OWNS over for Easter next year. He won’t expect much maybe a Big Mac, and a bag of fries. I hear UCLA also may be looking for a home next year also since they are way behind on paying rent at the Rose Bowl, and this time there is no Sam Gilbert around anymore to bail them out.

Maybe it was the 1970s sometime, and the Big Red Machine came to Dodgers stadium ahead of our heroes by 9-games. And after a 4-game series they were ahead by
13-games. Well, Karma is a b-tch, and L.A. just beat Cincy 4-straight this weekend.

  9. OWNS——basic economics. UCLA draws 3,700 people a game, and most of those in attendance are free loaders living off the State of California. UCLA is not a factor in football, and a non-revenue sport for the university so based on the rent the rose bowl charges , plus revenue sharing with the other teams where in the hell is the money coming from to pay the landlord. The real clowns are those like yourself who follow a team that also has not even won a Pac 12 championship in several years, What’s worse is UCLA is the only team in the Pac 12 that rents a stadium that everyone knows they are not qualified, and cannot afford to play in. The Ducky Drake on campus stadium is the best location for UCLA football with a 1,500 capacity it fits the university, the lack of interest in the football program, and low income UCLA fan base. Food stamps will still be accepted at all UCLA football games, and maybe all the free tickets they give away to games will make the place look filled for a change. Homeless U———————-STANDS FOR UCLA.

  10. More people attend the Rose Bowl Swap meet on a Sunday than a UCLA football game by far. No one supports UCLA football if they did they would attend the games. Talk about a cupcake football schedule take a look at their home schedule this year the Rose Bowl is a monument, and there is pressure from the City of Pasadena to get rid of the Bruins, and their homeless fans.
