USC Beats Cal To Advance To Pac-12 Championship

USC defeated Cal, 7-4, and advanced to the championship game of the Pac-12 Tournament.

The Trojans have won nine straight, which is pretty good for a team that does not have a home field.

Right fielder Brayden Dowd went 1 for 4 with 4 RBI. Shortstop Ryan Jackson was 2 for 3 with an RBI. Pitcher Josh Blum pitched two scoreless innings to earn his 10th save of the season.

USC will play the Stanford-Arizona winner on Saturday night at 7 p.m. And the game will be on ESPNU!!

  1. I doubt that SC baseball in its illustrious history ever had to win the Tournament to qualify for the college Title Playoffs

  2. Coach Andy S -USC Baseball will slowly re-build the USC baseball program back to where it belongs. It may take a few more years but he is definitely the best coach USC baseball has had in a very long time. Somehow USC finally made a good hire to lead the baseball program, and he will prove that a private school can have a consistent winning baseball program. Coaching is a key ingredient for success in college baseball.

    1. There should be a substantial benefit from getting rid of the draconian scholarship limits and changing to roster size. For baseball, the number being floated out there would be 32. It could also have a very positive impact on track and field.

  5. Have not seen the ‘Tirebiter’s upper case writings for a while as he is in the home stretch that last mile to Age-96, and who among you could call themself ‘George Tirebiter’ and get away with it?- The man had to have some ‘good SC history’ behind him to wear the great one’s name

  6. The Legend of ‘George Tirebiter’ the mutt from down the street to SC who the Trojans adopted in the early War Years of the 1940s when everybody needed a pick-me-up, and besides ‘Tirebiter’ was entertaining as he loved to chase afer cars and bite at their tires, a ‘hobby’ that eventually killed him after he retired from SC

  7. The SC pitcher tonight gives up 1 1/2 more runs per game than Arizona’s pitcher, but when you’re winning as the Trojans are you feel as if you can’t lose
