Lindon Crow was an underappreciated Trojan. He died last week at age 89.
Crow played in the 1953 and 1955 Rose Bowls for the Trojans and was also in the 1955 Senior Bowl and College All-Star Game. He was the captain of the 1954 team and a second-round pick by the Chicago Cardinals, where he played from 1955-57. He also played for the New York Giants (1958-60) and L.A. Rams (1961-64).
But this is where Crow really made his mark: He intercepted a Johnny Unitas pass in the 1958 NFL Championship Game between the Giants and Baltimore Colts, which has become known as the “Greatest Game Ever Played” and a turning point in making pro football the colossus that it is today.
Locally, some might remember Crow as football coach at St. Genevieve High School.

But he is the only site that remembered him,other than SC official site…those were great years for SC and everybody played offense and defense …no 85 scholarship player teams

One of my favorites on the 1952 team that beat ucla for PCC conference title and the ’53 Rose Bowl I was 9 yrs old and was privileged to watch both games. Also watched his games in the pros ,when televised incl the greatest game in’58.He was a talented 2 way player,rarely came out of the game.

He played all 60 minutes against Cal in one game. Scored 3 touchdowns and had one interception. Probably the best single game performance in College Football History. RIP
