USC Notes: The Clay Helton Effect

USC coach Clay Helton will speak at the Pasadena Quarterbacks Club tomorrow.

Last year, 180 people attended the lunch and speech. But I hear club officials will be happy if 100 show up tomorrow.

It could be worse. Remember, Helton already killed the annual Salute to Troy because ticket sales were dismal this summer.

  • USC has named Marko Pintaric the men’s and women’s water polo coach after a “national coaching search” according to Lynn Swann.

Swann has never conducted a national search in his life. Pintaric has been coaching at USC for the past 18 years and was always going to replace Jovan Vavic, after he got arrested in the College Admissions Scandal.

The season starts Sept. 14 and Swann just now decided to hire Pintaric? Please. People can’t be that naive.

So Swann has now promoted assistants in women’s golf along with men’s and women’s polo. He replaced men’s tennis coach Peter Smith with a former assistant coach. He hired a former assistant for beach volleyball. He brought back a head coach (Mark Trakh) to coach women’s basketball.

Imagine if he actually ever conducted a search for a football coach.

    1. According to sources, Lynn Swann says that he is thinking ahead. When Clay Helton retires he will promote Clancy Pendergast as HC of the football team. If it’s good enough for the national championship winning beach volleyball team it is good enough for the sécondary sport of football.

  3. Based on the amount of USC Rah Rah’s that I see on social media, Clay Helton will probably have a big turnout at the Pasadena quarterback club. Trojans fans love to pretend about the present, and always refer to the past when talking about SC football. And on a lighter note, Lynn Swann is a buffoon idiot, with no athletic director experience. He’s unsure of his decisions, which is why he hires the people that he does. The rehiring of Mark Trakh says it all about that Dumb Ass, you can’t be any dumber then that dumb fuck 😂😂😂

  4. You would think with all of Swann’s golf outings and autograph signings all over the country he would be able to find a coach with no previous USC ties. Oh wait, people who didn’t play, coach or have a kid at USC ” don’t get ” USC.

    1. I just finished listening to the two kabuki shows that are “Reign of Troy” and ”Peristyle podcast..” They were both glad Sears was gone and predicted how things will be “just fine” without him.

  5. And lets not forget that Swann hired a coach from Portland U to coach women’s volleyball and a coach from Williams to coach women’s tennis.

    Yes, the non revenue sports really are paid attention to by this bunch of incompetent idiots. How long before USC drops sports ?

  7. Brookside Country Club in Pasadena, how favorable for Swann. The golf course is about 100′ feet from the banquet room. May Swann and Helton both get a mustache injury and force them to stay home for the entire season

  8. UCLA is looking horrible against Cincinnati right now, but let’s not forget that they ran for over 200 yards against Bozo Helton’s USC Trojans for a win 😂😂. And they did it with a walk-on running back, too !

  9. Watching USC’s overwhelming talent outcoached by Fresno State is just plain embarrassing. Long past time to replace AD Swann and USC’S NO NAME FOOTBALL COACH. Ouch. Just too humiliating!
