USC Morning Buzz: Winners And Losers Of The Week

WINNERS

The USC Circus

Where else does a football coach fire 14 assistant coaches and the athletic dept. acts like there’s nothing wrong with it? USC, of course.

Steve Sarkisian

Never won more than nine games. Never did anything to speak of in the NFL. But he stuck close to Nick Saban and got the Texas job.

Korey Foreman

The nation’s No. 1-ranked player, according to some, got maximum publicity by committing to USC.

Wisconsin

If the Badgers land Markese Stepp, USC fans will get to see how good he really is.

LOSERS

Camp Helton

It lost Talanoa Hufanga, Alijah Vera-Tucker, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Marlon Tuipolotu, Olaijah Griffin and Markese Stepp. And at least two more departures are likely to come.

Player development

If USC spent as much time improving players as bragging about commitments, it might be somebody.

The Pac-12

Two bowl losses by a combined 49 losses. And it would have been worse if USC played in a bowl game.

Pac-12 Network

These two tweets speak volumes:

I know this site has a moderator because I know posts disappear. Sadly in a day or so the important points of the post show up as new ideas from Scot (spelled wrong to avoid moderator interference) however you can see that the trojandude207 post is authentic. Each email generates a new avitar. Look at ‘Fuck You’ posts. At 2:24 am (post time) she has a golden avitar. At 3:35 am she has a lavender avatar. Finally at 3:58 am she has a red avitar. That’s 3 email addresses for one name. Can I get a troll call operator?

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the artist formerly known as BruinRob. Much like Charlie Bucket, A.K.A. Tebowbama, BruinRob has had a long and infamous career posting his constant BS on this blog, beginning around 2009. Here are some of the career lowlights of BruinRob. *BruinRob is a long time resident of Cerritos and has been employed at the Cerritos McDonald’s for quite some time. He is a three time Golden Spatula winner and has enrolled in just about every class at Cerritos C.C., without earning that elusive Associate Arts Degree.

*BruinRob spends a lot of his time touting the greatness of UCLA, despite the fact that he’s never attended the school, aside from never attending a UCLA basketball/football game, even though tickets are relatively easy to come by. *BruinRob really came into his own during the 2011 season.

After the epic 50-0 beatdown of USC, BruinRob claimed that he and his “two kids” were verbally and physically harassed before, during, and after the game. *Two weeks later, BruinRob claimed that he and his “girlfriend” were going to drive in a convertible up the 101 to San Francisco to see UCLA get thumped by Illinois in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl.

It was during this time that BruinRob got exposed by a 12 year old for his DateMeLA profile. A link was posted and on that site there was BruinRob in all of his glory. All types of anti-USC propaganda and a portrait of BruinRob in a grey suit.

By the looks of it, he goes around 5’7″-245 lbs.

*For two seasons after that, BruinRob did exact some revenge on USC when Brett Hundley single handedly tore USC up three games in a row. This is when BruinRob changed his name to “UCLAOwnsLA”, mimicking the UCLA flavor of the month coach Jim Mora.

He soon changed it to his current monicker of “JustOwns” after USC sent UCLA and Josh Rosen packing three years in a row. *BruinRob’s anti USC dystopia hit an all time high shortly after it was announced that USC would be playing Penn State in the 2017 Rose Bowl.

He went on an all day rant about how the Bowl Selection Committee was violating their own rules by choosing USC over Colorado, who just lost the Pac-12 title game to UW. He conveniently left out the fact that USC beat both Colorado and UW that season.

*But this was nothing compared to the Mother of all Meltdowns during the fourth quarter of the 2017 Rose Bowl. I was at that epic comeback and when I got back home I read this blog and let me tell you, BruinRob was strutting around like a Bantam Rooster during the Third Quarter. But as the Fourth Quarter began winding down, you saw him going absolutely haywire, culminating when USC won in the final seconds.

*After that, BruinRob seemed to disappear for some time, keeping a really low profile. But now with USC sucking hind tit so to speak, he’s back spewing his constant garbage. FIGHT ON!

  1. Seems to me I recall that scotty thought texas was getting a great coach in herman…he was a good coach at houston, probably still is , but he only had 4 yrs to turn that program around,I would not have fired him. Sark took over an even worse program at Wash and made it respectable, he should have stayed there. Most families fail divorcing and it also has an affect on most peoples jobs in addition to the job change. Being under a great coach stabilizes ,and being in a position one has real talent doing also helps one accomplish goals and thinking, Sark did at Bama, just like Kiffin did. They changed, learned and are doing well…sc is not, and has not, and will not with folt in charge, she is unqualified for a school like sc …scotty? he needs to re-eval his feelings ruling his thinking.

Brennan single handedly destroyed the tight end position at USC forever…. and went on to irrevocably fuck up recruiting. He fucks up everything he touches…. [kinda like Biden]…

  2. Look up the term, Professional Ball Washer in the dictionary, and you’ll see a picture of Yogi Roth. Remember, the Yogster thinks Clay Helton is doing a fine job at USC. It is fitting that old Yogi works for the Pac 12 Network, because both have their head up their ass.

    1. “Sort of like UCLA hiring Neuheisal, BruinRob?”

Not quite Twatfour, and its Neuheisel. UCLA hired Neuheisel w/o a UDub premium buyout because RN wasn’t employed by UDub.

I mean, that is you and Charlie Bucket’s annual event because that’s the only way you can weasel your way into the stadium, along with the fact that it’s been twenty-two years since UCLA played in the Grandaddy of them all.

    Winner of the week
Cardboard cutout fans. They will undoubtedly see themselves in the stands again next season when real people decline to spend north of $250 to see an underachieving talent loaded football team committing unexplained forms of stupid mistakes so they can get a hug from the coaches.

    1. I got a kick out of the number of times the announcers for the Clemson/Ohio State game mentioned USC. Not exactly by name… but we fans knew who they were talking about: “It’s a pleasure to watch these two teams. You’re not gonna see dumb mistakes –no false starts, no delays of game, no personal fouls. None of that stuff you see when teams aren’t well coached.”

  4. Herman associated himself with people better than himself, and then rode what was left in Houston’s talent, but was promptly exposed when on his own. And Texas is repeating this with Sark. lol Sark may actually know fb a little better, yet have far more personal dysfunction.

Sarkiffin’s biggest problem is that they have an inferiority complex, related to their time at SC under Chow, and they both tend to try to reinvent football, go to passing centric finesse ball and add more finesse elements to the passing itself. That’s okay when a HC is telling them to stop it, and to go back to doing what they learned as assistants and understudies at SC. And in defense of CLK, he brought in Briles’ son to help him learn something though they say there was a clash in ideas and egos.

Ole Miss isn’t looking so great, CLK is leaving the D out to dry, and he knows better. (At Tennessee his best coaching game was vs Bama, slowing down the game, limiting the possessions, – it was a loss but a great coaching performance.) And we know how Sark imploded in UW.

Wisconson’s Rudolph should be near the top of our HC list. Obvs I’d prefer Paul Chryst I just assume he’s never leaving as HC of his alma mater. But maybe for $7-8 million and a palm tree lined road to the national championship at SC he would consider. A lot of his family is in California.

    1. Here’s USC’s list for head coaches

      Del Rio
pick any other current or ex USC assistant or player you can think of.

Since Howard Jones, USC has hired ONE coach with no USC ties, Larry Smith, that’s 80 years and ONE coach had no USC ties, you really think SC is gonna hire a non USC person ? You really think USC is going to pay a huge buyout for a new coach and to fire Gomer ?

      Liked by 3 people

      1. All true. In my lifetime we have never hired the best guy available other than by accident my getting Pete after being turned down by Riley, Erickson, and another (can’t remember).

Del Rio would be a huge improvement. Look at this recruiting class, if a CH lead team can get the local 5 star guys any coach with a pulse would be an upgrade and produce better results.

I was gonna say something like ‘you’d be right if Holtz were 20 years younger.’ But the more I think about it —yes, Holtz at 103 or whatever he is —would be a step up for USC.

      3. USC ties are almost as hard not to have than have– coaches and player connections to SC in the NFL is almost a 2 degree of separation thing. Sometimes it’s random- Chow brought in Sark with him who happened to be a student at SC for a year but was his QB at BYU. Was Larry Smith any good? Tollner with no prior ties was brought in to transition under JR and Tollner, was he any good? Hackett spent a few years at SC as a position coach but he wasn’t really an SC guy– he was a UC Davis grad who got his start at Cal and was really a career NFL guy. JR really came to SC as an Oregon guy, that worked his way up and that worked out great for us mostly. McKay came to us from Oregon and worked his way up inside and that worked out for us well too.

As for the money, that’s not a big buyout– we are supposedly paying one of the lowest amounts for a top program (ND has a weird endorsement set up, besides that, people are putting out $,6 mil 7 mil, 8 mil and 9 mil today. Clay has been a big savings. a half priced coach with a half salary extension. SC is in the top 3 or 4 athletic endowments in the nation, it’s bigger than 90% of colleges overall endowment. Even out bum ADs are the highest paid in the nation. We have a damn position coach making almost a mil a year. An alum offered to cover the buy out and was rejected. This is a political thing, not a money thing. SC is losing money with keeping Helton and it knows that.

    2. The Wisky DC, Leonhard, would be a nice hire also.
His defenses–in a conference loaded with offensive talent–are always top 10 per FPI. I had hoped for this after 2018 and 2019.

Rumor has it that Leonhard is the HC in waiting at U Wisky.
Chryst would never leave Wisconsin. Alvarez would never leave Wisconsin. Bielema did, and look whut happened to ole’ Brett.

      1. A good DC isn’t hard to find. All that’s needed is talented players and a coach that enforces energy and discipline, and finds position guys that understand and teach technique. PC ran one of the simplest and least flexible defenses in college, but he had the talent and energy part down, and usually the discipline. But the offense produced the dominance,- and that isn’t a matter of scoring, it’s a matter of field position, very few turnovers, very few 4 and outs, the ability to dictate ToP as needed and deliver the long drive or quick strike as needed. You can’t get that out of young passing coordinators, you need someone who understands blocking, and using the TEs and H-Backs/(which are really Fullbacks)– good TE/RB/OL coaches are fine but only if the OC knows how that all comes together to block for both running and pass pro. The best of those OCs use their QBs as extensions of themselves on the field, to arrange protection and blocking, to see where the opposing defense is fugging up or bringing. Find that, find a Norm Chow, who will stick around, make ’em head coach if you have to (though that can distract from the focus). Everything else falls into place.
