Kenan Christon won the 200 meters at the USC-UCLA dual meet today in a time of 21.17 as the Trojans’ men won, 114-42. The USC women won, 93-70.
USC’s women have won seven straight dual meets vs. UCLA while the USC men have won three straight. This really says more about the dire state of UCLA track and field the past decade or so.
I give Christon credit for focusing solely on track this spring, which I’m sure the football coaches did not consider ideal.

He is lightning in a bottle. Check out how quickly he gets to high gear, then hits the afterburners on this 55 yard TD run. Straight line speed is comparable to Reggie.

Sorry fellas and gals, forgot to post the link to Kenan’s 55 yard TD against Arizona. The cocktail lounge here at Chez ’67 has been open since the photo yesterday that Scottie posted showing Folt and Clay…

No questions if John Mckay was still the Head Coach Kenon Christian would be the starter. John, would give him the ball 20 times a game with the speed and power he has. Sadly, with Clay Helton and Graham Harrell running this silly air raid he will probably transfer from USC in the fall.
Speed kills. If you don’t have a line to run up the middle you get the ball outside with speed and eventually you will break one as the defense wears down. Our other backs are slow, and can’t tough Christian’s speed. Another way to use his speed would be to run some options but our quarterbacks are too slow and not much of a threat.
Looks like our Track and Field Program has a good chance to win a National Title this year. Great job…. sure wish I could say the same about USC baseball which has slipped just like the football program because of bad hires.

Spot on!
Would someone please explain to me why, with a great track program in place, the football coaching staff isn’t cross-training the skill position players [RBs, WRs & DBs at a minimum] with the track team to improve their pure speed which will hopefully translate into improved football speed.
I also believe that the mental break from football would probably do some players some good.
Kenon Christian is a football player who runs track. It’s head-scratching why the coaching staff hasn’t taken advantage of this fact.

Coach Gill, the baseball coach is doing a good job. Last year before the virus started he had a great record. Give him time. He is improving the team.

YOUR COMMENT ABOVE “This really says more about the dire state of UCLA track and field the past decade or so” IS A HORRIBLE NEGATIVE BS STATEMENT.
IF USC LOST, YOU AND YOUR POSSE WOULD HAVE CRITICIZED THE T&F COACHES AND THE AD.
NO WONDER YOU ARE NOT MARRIED!!
NO SPOUSE (MALE, FEMALE, TRANS, ETC.) WOULD PUT UP WITH YOUR NEGATIVITY.
THE FACT YOU ARE INSIDE SC AND NOT ALLOWED ON CAMPUS IS PROOF POSITIVE OF HOW INEPT YOU ARE. EVEN REGGIE BUSH IS ALLOWED ON CAMPUS.
IMAGINE MY FRIEND JIM CRAMER OR HIS CO-WORKERS AT CNBC NOT ALLOWED ON THE FLOOR OF THE NYSE.
THANKS CARLY SMITH GILBERT!! THANKS QUINCY WATTS!!

How about publishing some of the track and field event results…that is an incredible mens score…I used to go to the SC/ ucla meet every year…50’s and 60’s unless televised, which I think chnl ’11’ did,and they did tv replays on football too…

Team speed was a key ingredient to the success Mckay had at USC. As shown by the USC Pro Day times we are not recruiting enough speed.
Guy like Richard Wood, David Lewis, James Sims, Jimmy Gunn, alll had speed, and even our offensive lineman could at least move as compared to today where they are big and slow.
On offense we need more speed at wide receiver, running back, and a QB that can take off and escape for 1st downs, and more. Kenon Christon, should be starting with his explosiveness or at least carrying the ball 20 times a game. What an athlete he is!! Do defenses fear the outside running ability of Malapai, or Carr the answer is no they lack outside speed and explosiveness so defenses stack the middle, and have no fear USC can beat them on the outside. We have had some good possession receivers including Amon St. Brown, but we need a lighting fast outside receiver who can create a threat with the deep throws to keep the safeties honest. Drake London, is a great receiver but we need more speed as teams will double team him on the slants across the middle.
The NFL Draft speaks the truth with alot of 3rd and 4th round picks out of the Pac 12. Speed and Explosivenessis is lacking at the skill positions in the Pac 12, and definitely lacking at SC.

The transfer wide receivers they brought in, especially Nixon address this issue, don’t you think? So does Gary Bryant Jr, who’s time is fast approaching. Another who had a good spring is Michael Jackson III, who ran a 4.5 in high school.

Kenon as o/s receiver , I bet he would always have to be double teamed, maybe 3 even. I can see him on a good slant…etc…they need a dual q/b or 2 back offense to run good sweeps…defense needs more than 1 back to zero in on to be successful at running the ball, which hellton does not want to do.

Oh, Scott. When USC wins, it is because they play easy competition and is someone else’s issue. When USC loses, it is all USC’s fault. Your act is tired.
