Who Could Resist These USC Weekenders?

The USC Alumni Assn. sent out an email highlighting these road trips for USC in 2022.

Frankly, it almost feels like an advertisement for the move to the Big Ten. A weekender in 2024 will be a lot longer flight but it has to beat going to Oregon State and Arizona. Or Stanford. Utah is a good weekender if you haven’t gone before. It’s worth it. But the rest . . .

      2. Gabby: They may say that in DC, but in those parts of the country where the people don’t feed off of the tit of the government, the anthem is “let’s go Brandon.” Right now 78% of the democratic party believes the country is going in the wrong direction yet you still blindly support this puppet of the left. How do you like the price of gas? How’s that green new deal/build back better plan going? Do you think Biden should have had alternate sources of energy in place before he publicly attacked the oil companies and said he was going to shut off drilling permits on public lands. Are you looking forward to 20% inflation and food shortages? How about baby formula shortages unless your an illegal at the border. Do you still support an open border during a pandemic and the worst economy in 40 years? Any concern about Fentanyl coming across the border? Want to close schools again? How do you like your party’s defund the police plan. Is no cash bail and Soros funded DA’s working for you? Is Lia Thomas your favorite male athlete who competes against women? How do like how the Big Guy handled Afghanistan and the Russian war with Ukraine, and North Korea testing nukes. Still in favor of the Iran deal? You okay with giving a portion of the US oil reserves to China?

      3. Hey plow horse, you know I love you like a step-brother! I respect your posted opinions, whether right, wrong, or indifferent. Please, don’t lose sight of the fact, that when Biden took over this country, it was already in a health and financial disaster, not seen since the 1917 pandemic.

Any person elected, dem or repuke, would have a tremendous task in bringing it back to pre-covid levels. The path of resistance is to blame it all on Biden, as a talking point, to gain some political clout for the Nov elections, right?

BUT! …. This is a two-party system. Has the obstructionist in the Senate and or the repuke party, presented a platform, plan, idea, memo, letter, playbook, or legislation to combat your grievances?… If there is one…I’M ALL EARS! “Be part of the solution, not the problem”

But fools such as this dimwit now ask for solutions, completely ignoring what got us here…incompetence. And worse, they cry when you mention it.

      1. Predictably, Gabby did not respond to my post. He blamed it all on what Biden inherited and Republican obstructionist in Congress. But that is not accurate. We had oil independence under Trump and virtually no inflation. Biden’s first executive order was to kill the keystone pipeline. He then killed the Trump policies on global climate change by signing the Paris Climate Accords and announced to the world that the US would reduce fossil fuel emissions by 50% by 2035 while not securing any similar commitments for reduction from China or India, the two largest consumers of fossil fuels. He later announced that the goal was to have zero emissions by 2050. Seriously, if you are an energy company, are you going to risk hundreds of millions in oil exploration with the democrats and this guy in charge who want to put you out of business. Inflation is all on Biden. And so is the mess at the southern border. Trump had control of the border but Biden stopped the construction of the wall and backed out of the Mexico City agreements which required asylum seekers to register and stay in Mexico, not the US. He promised in his campaign to decriminalized illegal immigration and he has kept his promise although he has no legislative authority to do this. It is conceivable that we will be hit by terrorist cells coming from the Southern border but Biden does not care.

  3. Hey Scott, I’m surprised about your comment about an Oregon State weekender. Firstly, going to either Ewe-jean or Corphallus is basically the same trip (despite different opponent) since the two universities are only 44 miles apart. I’ve been doing this trip for SC games for 29 years now. It used to included a night in the Pearl District in Portland for a great dinner out, but that got scrubbed a few years back. Go to Cannon Beach for a night (or preferably two nights) and do a night or two in McMinnville wine country. Great stop. After the game (in either Eugene or Corvallis), head out to Yachats “the Gem of the Coast” for a night or two at Overleaf Lodge and Spa, then drive back to PDX or Eugene to fly out. Especially in late September (the nicest time of the entire year in western Oregon, for crying out loud), this is a spectacular roadie and not one to miss.

  9. The roots of the USC dysfunction can be traced back to the egregious NCAA sanctions. That was the turning point that called into question the NCAA’s ability to be fair and impartial. So it was just a matter of time before the top presidents would tire of their out-dated Jurassic ways. With the emergence of the Super Conferences, college football moves even closer to being out from under the umbrella of the NCAA. I am proud to help USC provide one more nail in the coffin of the NCAA’s inevitable demise. Unfortunately, the PAC12 ends up being collateral damage.

Everybody used to whimper and go back to their seat. I decided I didn’t give a fuck how much it hurt —I wasn’t going to move or make a sound. He hit me twice and I just stayed there. If you can recognize how Soros et Al are paying for the disruption of the USA, Then you will follow my story. In all the blogs I read, some conservative( where as a Berkeley hippie I have no right to be) and some middle of the road and even DU on occasion the game plan is to have a paid disruptor inserted into the blog to fuck things up.
Let me tell you a true unabridged story from AZ.

The summer before the election, I was at the PV flea market with some friends. This area is only a 100,000 and everybody knows everyone. A guy rolls in. 30 yrs old right out of central casting. An American Indian from some tribe in WI. We engage in politics. He is way too savy to be a hick. Hour later he shows me phone photos from the DC violence, Seattle violence and Portland. He knows way too much about those cities. I said, paraphrasing, these BLM events cost a lot of money. Don’t you get paid well? Turns out he is a well paid organizer. I got him to brag. He admitted to going to NJ to pick up a check from a wealthly pharma exec for a million. Money was no object he said. So he disappears. Hour later, two of my buds get text messages. “Get downtown”.
Turns out BLM rolled a bus into town to protest. Prescott had 200+/- citizens turn the two white witches leading the parade and told get your fat asses back on the buss and get out of town.
The organizer had left an Hour previous to this. That’s why he was in town.

If you think that the ‘leaders’ of these protest groups are smart enough to organize this crap, you are sadly naive. They get rich just being the front man or woman. There is a lot of dark money out there throwing a wrench into the spokes.

Check out the dark money flowing to Stacy Abrams.

Actually, especially when the viewpoint is dead wrong. The American people get it. They loathe Biden and his policies. They loathe the complicit press. This is no time for anyone to be giving up.
Two further observations. (1) Governor Noem said she was out stumping for a couple of South Dakota candidates [repubs of course] and she was embarrassed to hear them speak —they had NO programs beyond “I’m a repub.” The repubs better deliver for the American people —ALL of them — or they will be more hated than the dems by 2024. (2) Let’s not get personal with our political opponents. We disagree, we have the higher ground —no name calling. It never makes things better.

If you’re a fan of the show, I have to give you some credit for having good taste, at least occasionally.

      2. I’m also a big fan of 1883, watched the complete series twice… It was that good…IMO.

I read, that filming for season 5 just started with a mid-Nov release date. I can hardly wait. Rip is my favorite character

6666 is another series they have planned… It’s about the massive cattle ranch in Texas. Google the story behind how it was named 6666

  19. Disagree. Love the weekender trip to Stanford or Cal. Really upset that’s going away. Will never travel to these Big Ten games; too far.
