USC Morning Buzz: Oregon State A Trap Game?

This week will be a great test to see what gamblers know?

There has been more money bet on Oregon State (+6.5) to cover against USC than any of the Week 3 NFL games or Week 4 college football game spreads.

And the bettors apparently know Oregon State is without tight end Luke Musgrave and running back Trey Lowe.

A heavily bet game on the Pac-12 Network. That ought to help the network’s usually anemic ratings.

      2. Gabby, you are right on the money about Trumpster and So Cal.
Too bad that most of these bloggers are so conservative and Trojan
fans in disguise. How did they deal with liberal Pete Carroll and
        all his success?

      3. Gabby, Gabby, Gabby, those impeachment trials were political theater staged by the same party who tried remove the president for catching Covid. Pelosi signed the order of removal while the president was recovering. The second ” impeachment ” was rushed through when Trump was no longer in office. Never in my lifetime has a political party gone to such lengths with baseless accusations to impede the sitting president. The Democratic party is run by childish win at all costs people.
Trump was a blustering bulbous boufant, pretty much an asshole from the word go, but smart people knew he was an asshole. Like it or not the country was much better off with him in charge.

      1. Don’t point that finger at me. For the most part, I ignore the idiot. She’s too stupid to realize 75-80% of the people on this thread also try to ignore her, when it comes to our failure of an administration. They just sit back and laugh at her ridiculous claims.

She’s obsessed with me the way way she’s obsessed with Trump. Like most who play for that “team”, she’s very emotional and can’t help it. I’ve actually gotten to the point I feel sorry for her.

      2. Michael,

Oh hell no, we want to see a winner take all in the cage match and no holds barred. The Christians at the Colsiuem have nothing on this. We want blood, guts, gore, mayhem, hate, spit, backstabbing, back biting, brass knuckles and bare knuckles approach. Then on Saturday at 6:30 PM, we then all come together as fans and root for the Trojans.

    3. Agree, So Cal

If a trap game is defined as ‘An obviously superior team not being prepared for a lesser opponent’ then I say SC-Oregon St does not qualify unless the Trojans wish to be muddied over again as they were in 1967 with O.J. stymied.

    1. I wonder if Antifa will still accept my application. Admittedly, my resume on city destruction is rather thin but I work hard and I own several hammers and a blow torch. Perhaps one day I can make it up to People’s Commissar. Luckily, one of my teachers had us read Felix Dzerzhinsky’s work. Not sure why, seems like a pretty wimpy guy to me.

  1. Wolf is amusing but I have absolutely no trust in his information or his opinion. I often wonder why he so contrary. It is interesting that he refers to his website as Inside USC when he is despised by those inside USC.

    1. I recall back in the PC era, Wolf kept mocking Pete and referred to him as “Ceasar”. Pete didn’t appreciate Wolf’s public joking and gave him the middle finger. He told him to say away from the locker room and his players. It only escalated Wolf’s pettiness.

Heritage hall employees would laugh at him when he came sniffing around

  2. To reply to MG–

While SC employees may have laughed at Wolf sniffing around,
    (probably not true),
whenever a Trojan hot-shot such as Carol or Bon-Bon arrived,
those same employees would immediately commence some
    old-fashion brown-nosing and back-slapping

      1. I hope they don’t remember the loons who threatened to kill Supreme Court members, or those that burned down towns like Portland or looted, or those who kill cops, or the Demo Mayors who let crime run rampant. Or who got soldiers needlessly killed pulling out of Afghanistan, or who decimated the economy. Pretty sure no one noticed. Phew, close one.

      2. True, so sadly true how some bosses expect you to genuflect when in their Kingly or Princess presence.

I am the insubordinate type, the kind that bosses do not loathe in firing
And in fact I counted up that I had had 13 jobs in my life,
and I was eventually fired from every one of them, with my Dad having to do it twice (I returned after Dad’s first firing, needing the money, and then later he had to fire me all over again)

I finally got it figured out a few years back when I went into the law business as a solo practitioner– You can’t fire yourself!

…My brother and I got into a “Got Fired Again!” Contest which continued throughout high school and into college. It was close to neck and neck all the way —with my brother and I tied for the lead for a month or so …and then me always pulling ahead…

      4. LJ and MG:

I think that I can compete with you two in the insubordination/firing category but getting axed by your father is tough. I recall the managing partner of a law firm calling me into his office and telling me that I was being placed on probation. I said fine and then left the office without waiting for him to explain the reasons for the discipline. He then stormed into my office and asked why I left before hearing his explanation. I told him that I thought that his “probation” was just bull—t and if he wanted to fire me he ought to do it but that he would not because I was being underpaid by at least $40,000 per year and that I had two trials next month and I could not be easily replaced. About a week later he hired my replacement who had less experience than me at a salary much higher than mine. I was fired a week after that but the replacement lost the trial big time and cost the firm a client. (I guess I was sort of right in saying I could not be easily replaced.)

      1. What amuses me, Plow, are the people expressing concern about young people being exposed to online gambling. As if that’s the worst thing to which your child might be exposed on the dark web!

Monitor what your kids are doing on the internet, People!! As they did in “This is 40”, the computer should be in the kitchen or family room.

      3. Plow Horse,

My question is, How can Propostion 27 be driven by a foreign and sovereign country? Aren’t the Indian Reservations under their own souverign state as a county? If I am coorect, then how can they get a propostion going? It is like France coming to California and supporting Proposition 69, the legitmacy of whoring. Am I wrong here? Thank you.

      4. PT: You raise an interesting question. Unfortunately, I don’t know the answer. Indian sovereignty is a unique field. Won’t see any question on it on the bar exam. I am speculating that the proposition is really coming from the gambling companies who do not have the sovereignty to gamble on Indian land in California and therefor a proposition is necessary. The Indians are probably just a beneficiary of a small portion of the profits or perhaps a very small minority owner. Just a guess.

As Paul Revere and the Raiders said:

They took the whole Cherokee nation
        Put us on this reservation
Took away our ways of life
The tomahawk and the bow and knife
        Took away our native tongue
And taught their English to our young
And all the beads we made by hand
        Are nowadays made in Japan

  3. I don’t think Oregon St has one, let alone three defensive backs who can stop USC or a pass rush that can slow down the USC Offense. So how can they win? Offense and special teams? Hold the ball by running down USC’s defense? Then what happens when they are exposed for a lack of depth in the second and third strings? If USC is motivated by that beatdown that Oregon State put on these guys then its going to get bad for the beavers, real quick.
