Big Recruiting Weekend For USC

USC has plenty of recruits visiting this weekend. Many are already committed to the Trojans.

I’ll list them but it’s weird how the recruiting services can disagree on some prospects.

Offensive tackle Caleb Lomu of Gilbert, Ariz., is visiting. He sounds like a must get because he is listed as the nation’s No. 9 offensive tackle by On3. But then I noticed Arizona, Utah and Cal are USC’s main competition.

For a Top 10 offensive tackle? Then I check Rivals and Lomu is just a three-star and the nation’s No. 46 offensive tackle.

  1. Lomu is a 4 star on 24/7. He also has a Michigan offer and a Florida offer, not just the utes and arizona.

    Lomu is a bit small for OT (265), but is 6’5″, so he could probably add 25 or more lbs between now and when he would be playing (figure soph year).

    Paige is expected to sign with USC, fingers crossed. A domer decommit, Paige is 6’7″ and 305, 4 star.

    Pleasant is a 4 star, runs a 10.14 100 meters.

      I 100% agree with you. Example- Bishop Gorman football team has 23 players on the roster with D1 offers. They arguably play the toughest out of conference schedule in the nation year after year.

      You can’t fake it when you’re playing the best teams.

    Hoping that SC can bring in who they want instead of taking the lower end of recruiting. When they get the top end recruits and they are taking their commitment seriously and honoring it, then SC recruiting will be back.

  8. If they could get Caleb Lomu and Elijah Paige, that would be awesome. They are both 4 star O-Lineman. Paige was committed to ND but de-committed. I watched a you tube program put on by ND football. They had five 4 star O-Linemen committed. They were really sorry to lose Paige because they said that of the five O-Linemen, Paige was the best. Even they predicted that he was going to SC.

  9. If they get Lomu and Paige, they will have one of the best recruiting classes in the country for O-Linemen. But they need D-Linemen badly. They need to concentrate on some really good D-Lineman. I would get rid of Grant Buckey. Maybe I’m wrong. They must see something that I don’t see but he really seems slow to me. He doesn’t seem very strong either on tape. He’s not a 4 star.

    1. If they get Lomu and Paige, then I’m definitely getting a big Azz boner, because we will have one of the best recruiting classes in the country for O-Linemen. But they need D-Linemen badly. They need to concentrate on some really good D-Lineman. I would get rid of Grant Buckey, because my personal evaluation says he’s a soft bitch. Maybe I’m wrong, but I doubt it, because I’m always right.They must see something that I don’t but I’m the expert, so I doubt it.

  12. Pleasant is a must along with Paige DJ little bro Matayo & Lamu. Then find a couple of flips that can add to a break out next year. We will be a year older and have more length with 6 ‘4 Crawford or Jason Mitchell. Gentry has created new type of linebacker. Kind of a hybrid positionlist playmaker a DE height strong safety physicality and combination of zone coverage linebacker, and occasional blitzer. That is what Gentry is a playmaker all over the field. Some DC in the NFL will probably start him in zone coverage schemes or in the box safety matching up against big receiversTE if he has the speed to stay with WR/TE. He needs to gain at least 25-30 pounds, it probably will take him two years to achieve that in my opinion. Then he will be a Trojan for 2 more years. Hopefully he wants to stay another year to become a 1st All American and leader with us going to the BIG. He will improve his draft status if his evaluation
    comes in like 2nd or 3rd round. Freakish athlete. We need lineman who have a mean nasty streak to reach the next level.

  15. UCLA is pounding Washington. This is embarrassing for the Pac 12. I hope USC can stay healthy until the end of the year. Any talk about how good USC will be against the top teams in the country is premature and speculative. Be patient.

  16. The refs are so bad, if you ever want to die laughing, ask Mike Pereira about the Pac 12 Administrators. I want UCLA to be undefeated when they play USC. They’re big but they don’t quite have the speed or depth of USC.
