Cromwell Field Will Be No More Next Week

Carol Folt and Mike Bohn are expected to host an official ceremony April 10th to remame Cromwell Field as Allyson Felix Field.

The 11:30 a.m. ceremony will take place outside the track and field stadium near the P.E. Building.

One thing USC hasn’t mentioned yet is whether Allyson Felix will actually attend.

USC is going to get a lot of mileage out of the renaming. As I’ve said before, it’s too bad Felix never actually competed for USC. Ever.

The top of the video board is covered up today, no doubt because it says “Allyson Felix Field.” It will suddenly be popular to publicize the name of the field.

  1. At nineteen-year-old Felix became the youngest world champion ever in the 200 meters at the 2005 Helsinki World Championships and then successfully defended her world title in Osaka two years later.

With that said, why run track at USC for pennies when endorsement deals are calling. Adidas paid for her college education and put money in her bank account. Sounds like a win-win situation.

    1. Pro career could have waited a few years. Don’t have to name anything after her. Her brother scored lots of points for the men’s team. You could say the same scenario for Caleb Williams.
