Mater Dei Beats St. John Bosco In Mission Viejo Tournament

Mater Dei defeated St. John Bosco, 23-6, this afternoon at the Mission Viejo Tournament.

Mater Dei had five-star wide receiver Bru McCoy (pictured above, and a USC target) and four-star quarterback Bryce Young (a USC target). St. John Bosco had five-star cornerback (and USC commit) Chris Steele and five-star quarterback DJ Uiagalelei (USC target).

If Mater Dei is winning comfortably without pads or linemen, the Monarchs should be a clear favorite when the teams meet on Oct. 12 at Santa Ana Stadium.

Steele had a pick six earlier in the day vs. Long Beach Poly.

  1. “Mater Dei is winning comfortably without pads and linemen…”

USC doesn’t use all the days to go full pads as permitted by the NCAA and doesn’t coach up it’s “soft” linemen anyways, so looks like those guys are a good fit for USC.
