USC has some new media policies.
Clay Helton is only going to answer questions on Tuesdays and Thursdays. By comparison, Pete Carroll answered questions on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Carroll had a lot less to answer for, apparently.
Helton has also decided that only the first 20 minutes of Tuesday/Wednesday practices will be open to the media. In past years, the entire practice was open.
Also, for the public, all training camp practices will be closed except for the August 17 scrimmage, which costs $10. In the past, all or most training camp practices were open to the public.

Why won’t Gomer start Jack Sears? Daniels’ dad probably threatened Helton with not commiting to SC unless guaranteed to start. Sears is clearly better player and leader.

Having listened to Sears get interviewed —and struggling not to laugh after Sears said he wants to “get better everyday” three times in a row (the phrase that Helton instructs everybody to use when they run out of thoughts)—-I have some reservations about the notion of Sears being a born “leader” (he IS a gifted athlete, however)…..

Sears is faster, that’s it. JT is a significantly better passer. In the gumbo offense where you better run or you get killed, start Sears. In a real offense, like we have now, JT will out produce Sears by a long long way.

Well Sweden is clearly the gold standard and should win worlds again. But Koe and Bottchard can carry Canada a really long way. Don’t sleep on China, Lindholm taking over their national program will push them into the mix.
