When Practices Closes, It Gets “Physical”

What a coincidence that the first week USC practices are closed, Clay Helton says, “It’s been about as physical a three practices as I’ve seen.”

Of course. Practices will always be physical now that no one can see them. At least USC did not practice in tennis shoes. That might happen today, though, because there is a mock game tomorrow, which is actually not physical because it goes through “game situations” like substitutions on special teams.

USC and John Baxter needs a lot of practice there especially after eight players were in the wrong spots for special teams during last week’s scrimmage.

  2. Definitive proof that J.T. Daniels is not the Trojans best QB…Graham “Abba Zabba” Harrell isn’t sold on him.

    Jack Sears is (as Petros Papadakis has stated) “clearly” the Trojans best QB.

    And most of us that follow Trojan football already knew that as well. Helton relegated Jack Sears as #4 on the depth chart for the simple fact that he does not want J.T. Daniels having to be looking over his shoulder.

    The best thing Harrell had to say regarding J.T. Daniels was that he was “consistent”.

    The one thing that J.T. Daniels did “consistently” in Fall practice, as was reported by multiple USC social media outlets, was throw interceptions…at least 8.

    The only person that is sold on J T. Daniels is Clay Helton and that is because Helton is highly invested in him somehow someway.

    1. Let me see if I understand what you’re saying.
      When describing Sears he said, “clearly the best quarterback.” When describing Daniels he said, “Consistently throws the most interceptions.”
      I’m very interested in hearing this interview, as would the rest of the folks here.

  3. Taylor Mays said that Clay Helton coached players are soft.

    Mays said it on Tunnel Vision.

    Mays also said that coaches shouldn’t come to USC trying to change USC, but should instead, embrace the Trojans physical style of play…something that Mays said has been missing going on 10 years now.

Having read most of the other sites…Wolf is actually more accurate and honest about what has really been going on the last few years, not during yrs previous,just to helton yrs the last 3…he could tell you ‘I told you so’ many times…the other sites have maybe an honest objective eval on occasion, like Kevin Bruce ,and 1 or 2 others at ‘we are SC’…
    I think the others want to be too buddy buddy/spread the line vs truth…think about it…I and my brother are hard core SC since 1951 we were kids loved everything SC BUT I CAN’T IGNORE THE TRUTH OF WHAT these current assholes have done to destroy football at SC, and get millions to do it.

    2. Tim —I’m sure it’s partly about wanting access or wanting to be buddy buddy. But I really think that it’s mainly that a lot of people covering USC aren’t able to see past their nose. They watch the practices and don’t know what they’re seeing. How else do you explain so many of them watching Browne throw floaters and still think he was The Guy? Or watch Jack Jones get beat constantly and say he’s the Next Great USC corner? And I think these folks hate the hell out of it when Scott —with his limited access —calls it better than they do.

  5. Pudly has just reported on a USC Trojan social media site that Clay Helton has gotten serious about bringing some physicality to Trojan practices and will therefor close remaining practices to fans and media.

    Helton has asked Pudly to break out the inspirational video they have found and to be ready to air it after the team reviews tape this evening. Here it is…

    You wouldn’t know if they any more or less physical. You don’t go. You’re not allowed.

    But you have a fan base of about 6 other miserable clowns. Although Tebow posts enough for about 50 clowns. So there’s that.

    2. did you watch any games last yr??? proof their practices were mostly in shorts and again this yr…who would want to watch those candyass practices…you must be the one for which they created the term ‘DUMBASS’

  10. wolfman, you KNOW i would never publicly contradict you….but MAYBE you should just CONSIDER easing up on Hell-TON a bit. i am actually fearing that he may have a mental breakdown before the season STARTS!!
