How Bad Are Teams In Second Half Of Schedule?

Remember all the talk in the offseason about how difficult the first six games of the schedule were going to be?

USC went 3-3, about as expected.

But few talked about how easy the second half of the season schedule would be. Arizona, Colorado and UCLA are 4-6. Arizona State and Cal are 5-5.

Oregon is 9-1 and USC was routed by the Ducks. But the Trojans will probably go 5-1 in the second half. That’s a pretty easy schedule and a benefit of playing in the Pac-12.

  1. SCooter,

What happened last year with Pendergast’s defense allowing 289 yards rushing leads me to believe the game will be a very hard fought battle. All Thug U aka ruinville has to do is just run to the outside and they are in the ball game. SC cannot stop the run to the outside. Don’t be surprised if Thug U aka ruinville wins the game because of porous defense on SC’s side.

    1. This is everyone’s concern.
No excuse this year, however. We know what ShowCause has for his game plan. Kelley right, Kelley left, Kelley up the middle.

      Just stop the run.
      Hopefully Gaoteote can contribute.
Do you put 8 defenders in the box (and dare DRT to win the game with his arm)?

No surprise that UCLA pummeled the Trojans in the 4th qtr last year.
Beyond 40 punishing run plays, most D-linemen are toasted. War of attrition. If UCLA is effectively running the ball in the fourth period of a close game…..

  2. Was at the game. Unless they were notified before the game there was no way the band knew that they were going to do that tribute. They also had a fan kicking a field goal during that time out. If they wanted to honor Bryce Turner properly they should have cleared the entire time-out for the tribute.

  3. Like I said earlier, an experienced, and talented athletic director, knows why somebody like Clay Helton is racking up the wins in the PAC 12. But the thing that’s missing is dominance, which is expected at a school like USC.
