Kirk Herbstreit Doesn’t Expect College Football This Season

ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit said he does expect football to be played in the fall.

“I’ll be shocked if we have NFL football this fall, if we have college football. I’ll be so surprised if that happens,” he told ESPN radio.

“Just because from what I understand, people that I listen to, you’re 12 to 18 months from a [coronavirus] vaccine. I don’t know how you let these guys go into locker rooms and let stadiums be filled up and how you can play ball. I just don’t know how you can do it with the optics of it.”

    1. Kirk’s opinion is no different from people at the local Barber shop . So I’m not sure why his opinion was echoed by the media, especially since his background is not medical

  3. I’M SURE HELTON WOULD LIKE ANOTHER YEAR OFF AT USC. UNFORTUNATELY, THIS WOULD REALLY TAKE THE HEAT OFF OF HIM. AND NO ALABAMA FOR THE OPENER..

  4. Here’s the thing. The virus doesn’t do well in warm temperatures. There might be a minor flare up this fall but I am willing to bet most stay home orders will be lifted. Testing should be better by then and we can quarantine those who need to be. Either way I expect football to go on.

  6. If college football doesn’t happen, then that likely means that the academic school year with in – person classes might not happen either.

    I’m sure there are worries about the football environment but I think students all living together in closed spaces (dorms, greek houses, apartments) doing what students traditionally do would be much worse than worrying about what can spread at a football practice/game.

    Hell, dorms and sorority houses are breeding grounds for all kinds of bacteria even when times are good.
