Does Jaxson Dart Need To Wait For Caleb Williams’ Decision?

Caleb Williams is expected to commit to USC.

But does Jaxson Dart need to wait for Williams to officially make a decision before he commits somewhere?

Let’s say Williams shocks the world and goes to LSU or someplace else. Dart could then return to USC with a hero’s welcome from Lincoln Riley.

Dart might already know where he wants to transfer. But should he wait until Williams announces to decide his future?

  1. Aren’t Dart and Trigg a package? I think they were roommates last year? Isn’t Williams running out of time if he is to register for the Spring semester? Guessing all this should be resolved this week.

      1. I’m not sure why I’m reminded of this little slice of history …but…. Mayweather and Pacquiao played around with their fight date for so long and teased the public so many times….that by the time it happened nobody gave a fuck anymore….

  2. The portal needs some work. It’s kinda dumb to consider the players student athletes if they aren’t even in school when school is happening. How do you get anything out of a class if you miss the first half of the quarter/ semester? Are any of these dudes even gonna have the grades to play when FB starts up again or are they going to academically ineligible.

  3. Dart should wait. He can bring USC back to greatness if he shows a little patience.

Caleb and his dad are most likely getting some serious NIL money from the State of Louisiana. Caleb probably wants to say ‘I can do this on my own without coach Riley’, but we’ll see.

Miller Moss is no slouch either and he’s in it for the long haul. Let’s develop the guys currently on the roster and let the chips fall where they may.

  4. Caleb Williams going to LSU to play for Brian Kelly is like recruiting Kendon Slovis to come to your school to run the wishbone, an all run no pass offense.

Plenty let me know if any of the QB’s that Brian Kelly had at ND are now playing in the NFL. To me if Caleb Williams wants to develop his skills for the NFL the last place should be LSU and Brian Kelly.

    1. TOMMY BOY, Joe Burrow, QB of LSU’s last CFB NC is one win away from an AFL SB berth.

Former SUCC QB’s, still in the NFL, are collecting butt splinter’s on the end of their team’s bench.

Give it a rest TOMMY BOY so you have time to pull your head out.

    2. Many of us have brought this to the attention of this board…

Also, I can think of one ND WR who has had a “decent” NFL career lately.
Compare ARSB to his brother, Equanimeous.

    3. The last 30 Notre Dame quarterbacks to start an NFL game are 0-30. Look it up. The last to start and win a game in the NFL was Brady Quinn for Cleveland in like 2008. Brian Kelley can sure coach QB’s and get them ready for the NFL!

  5. Jaxson Dart should not accept sloppy seconds; he’s better than that.

If C. Williams opts for Clown U FB, Riley’s promised QB competition is officially over.

  6. Like I said before, Riley is creating a QB’s dream. I’m sure that if Williams doesn’t choose to step into this QB’s Garden of Eden, Dart would love to come back to a place that he is familiar with. We should know what is happening this week. He is said to be down to 2 schools. Both are on the quarter system so both need an answer by the end of this week.

  7. Dart and Caleb Williams would never even consider going to a lower level program like UCLA. What is surprising is UCLA Football continues to lease out the very expensive Rose Bowl each and every year with very little fan interest. My question is why rent a Stadium on Saturday if no one comes to the games?????? UCLA is better off playing their games on Spaulding Field, Drake Stadium, or even at nearby University High School who have plenty of room to accomodate the very few Bruin fans who come to games. UCLA has probably the worst attendance figures in the Pac 12 Football Conference because the teams hardly ever participates in a Bowl game, never wins the conference, and will never make the college football playoffs so why rent a beautiful stadium if there is no fan interest. If you take away the TV revenue UCLA football is nothing.

    1. From time to time UCLA must think of how much money they’d save if they could bail on their Rose Bowl lease ….play between Pier 2 and 3 on Santa Monica Beach…..

  8. Wherever Caleb Williams ends up, I don’t think it will be Oklahoma because I saw a video where his father was out there in the street giving instructions to a truck driver of a large truck and there was a large tow truck that had his car loaded on to it. He was packed up to go somewhere. So he’s not staying at Oklahoma. He probably already knows where he is going.

  9. Hey Mike. Big fan of your posts.. I certainly understand your frustration. I have been frustrated many times during this prolonged wait as well. However, we will forget about his Prima Dona antics after he helps run up over 500 yds in total offense against the frauds from South Bend. Please be a little more patient my learned friend.

  10. At this point, I think Riley should have a deadline for Caleb to sign or just bring Dart back and pass up the primadonna. I really like Dart, but he is rough and needs some coaching. Riley can give him the coaching he needs to be great. Not sure if Dart can be a truly mobile QB. I really want to cheer for Dart. Caleb, I am not sure about.

  11. Shane Lee could be a real good pick up. He was a 4 star in high school, good enough for Bama to come calling. Technically, he still has 3 years to play at SC. He played in 2019 and, as I understand it, red shirted in 2021(maybe a medical redshirt) and then the NCAA is saying that 2020 didn’t really count because of covid. That leaves 3 years left. I could be wrong about that.

    1. we may not need him for 3 years – 2 might be just fine. by that time, there will be a roster full of top talent to fill in.

i think that as Riley goes out and recruits high school players, he tells them that the transfer portal players will be starting for a year or two and then leaving, which is perfect timing for new recruits to get in shape and learn the system. i bet Riley has a very sophisticated roster management plan, that looks at a multi-year horizon.

good coaches can look at the long horizon when recruiting. a coach like helton can onlyget a small number of top talent and they must fill in the roster with guys who dont fit on a national championship roster.

      1. What exactly does Caleb’s dad think people are gonna do when Caleb drives into the parking lot? This whole thing has been so overplayed that Caleb’s arrival is gonna get filed under ‘anticlimax.’

  12. To answer Scott, Dart needs to do what Dart needs to do. Riley could have assumed him that he would play or at least have a chance. But Riley is allowing Caleb make this theater. Caleb as over milked it and I believe it makes him a bad fit for SC. Call Dart back and move on. The offer has expired and we have moved on.

    1. I am reading this about 8 hours after I posted and wondering who’s playing the joke. It said assured not assumed originally. It said Caleb has not -Caleb as, originally. It said “call Caleb back and tell him the offer has expired,” originally.
Oh well it’s more funny if you read what actually posted.

  13. Why do UCLA fans appear on the USC board yet very few if USC supporters appear on the UCLA board.

Reason: UCLA fans are very jealous of the USC football brand. UCLA Football is a “wanna be program” or they would not rent a stadium the size of the Rose Bowl with no fans to fill it. Drake Stadium or Spaudling Field on campus fits the ticket demand for a second tier program. Smaller Pac 12 football programs like Arizona, Washington State, Colorado, and Oregon State draw more fans to their home games than UCLA football. The Rose Bowl should kick UCLA football out of Pasadena it’s an embarrasment to the Rose Bowl logo, but they won’t because they like the free rent money. Traditional high school power Mater Dei has more fan interest, and would probably put more fans in the stands in the Rose Bowl than a UCLA football game.

With Lincoln in town it just might put the UCLA football program in bankruptcy. The Rose Bowl should not feeling sorry for UCLA, and look for a new tenant who can fill some seats in Pasadena.

Thank you UCLA for extending the contract of Chip Cheeseburger Kelly.

  14. BIG UPDATE ON CALEB WILLIAMS:
Caleb’s dad has just reported that Caleb came back into the house before leaving on his monumental Road Trip. “It’s true! Caleb raced back into the house to take a final piss before leaving. He figured why have to stop on the road? —let’s get it out of the way now.”

  15. USC hoops defense comes through, holding ASU to something like 37% shooting and under 60 points. 17-2. If Petersen and Ellis are reasonably on, that opens up the inside for Mobley and Goodwin and they can compete with anyone.
