No Bill Walton For USC-Arizona

Tonight’s USC-Arizona game will not feature Bill Walton or his partner, Dave Pasch.

Instead, Rece Davis and Jay Bilas will call the game.

That probably makes Bilas happy, since he grew up in Palos Verdes.

      1. Walton is over the top even for me. MG I learned that you are taking a NOVEL approach. But was that for real ?? Call me doubting Thomas However I’m open to persuasion But it may take a lot as I am a born skeptic. Can’t help it.

    1. Um –let’s say, at this early juncture of the game, things look pretty good we’ll be hearing Scott’s favorite line later tonight…

  1. They jumped us. The way Gonzaga did. If we just trade with them the rest of the game it stays a blow out.

  2. MG Well it’s 39-23 but hope springs eternal I do have two unrelated thoughts. May I see the rough draft. And. Carols mini skirt pix makes me want to puke.

    1. Did I say ‘they jumped us at the start and just trading baskets the rest of the way won’t be enough’ ??

  3. Not 3s, it’s classic cut to hoop, outlet, and defense packed in down low. SC is EXTREMELY talented and good 1 on 1. But UA is athletic and far better coached. Our kids don’t know how to defend the cuts and releases. Offensively we have no post and interior passing. And we have no mid range offense and rightly don’t want to just go 1 on 1 or jack up 3s and get blown out. Andy won’t have to worry about Maryland type offers unless he straightens this out at the half.

      1. I’m happy that a bunch of Oregon players bailed when it looked like they had the making of an imposing team. And the PAC has upgraded its coaching with its top programs and got the talent coming. If the talent keeps coming Andy can evolve into being a better coach before UCLA starts reeling in some big time classes. I’ve given up on a USC hoops title but it will be interesting and we’ll have a team to root for in March. Plus I’ve got the same idea about football– I see some hires that look like we may be something better than the very best Air Raid team (which still isn’t a championship team). If not, we’ll have human interest examples of hubris to chew on.

      2. He’s taking the Maryland job and USC will be fine. Honestly, he had changed stuff up the last 6ish games so I’ve got nothing of actual substance to dunk on him with.

He carries himself like a Coach K who doesn’t know about Just For Men. Either that or he’s got a secret deal subtly endorsing sour-ass lemons.

  4. Arizona is a flat out better roster. They will beat us 8 or 9 times out of ten. But tonight they are shooting the lights out and we are 2-15 from three. They have outscored us by 24 points at the three point line. There’s your blowout.

    1. That’s part of the story. But USC is playing scared. Vegas pegged us for being a few points down in this one —and they’re rarely THIS wrong …except when a team doesn’t show up…

  5. Too bad. We won’t get all the book reviews and hyperbole from those too guys…..you know….like when BW says something like “that was the worst in-bounds play in the history of Arizona basketball”.
