USC National Title Odds Skyrocket

USC’s national championship odds have skyrocketed to 11/1 according to BetOnline, which makes the Trojans the third favorite for the title.

Just three weeks ago, USC’s odds were 55/1.

And Caleb Williams is the clear favorite to win the Heisman Trophy at 1/30. C.J.Stroud and Max Duggan are tied for second at 25/1.

    1. Best case would be a 54-48 Overtime game like Oklahoma & Georgia played at the Rose Bowl in the Playoffs a couple of years ago. Worst case would be what Georgia did to Hooker and Tennessee this year.

    2. The Ladies of Troy 11-1 record is all a mirage, a house of cards that will come crashing down as soon as they play a good team.

Every team the Ladiea of Troy have faced this year has either been crap oe just mediocre, not one win over a quality opponent.

You sound likde me. I am waiting for SC to play a good team. In the meant time they beat ugly, nd, oregon st., and were robbed with utha. PAC 12 have 6 teams in the top twenty. It is one of the tougher leagues this year. Big 10 has Michigan and Ohio St. sEc has georgia and two time loser lswhooo and two time loser bamab. Okie got hammered this year, Texsss didn’t do squart, and tcu played pretty good teams at best. Pac 12 is better this year.

  1. The Heisman Race got very one-sided this past week with most of the major contenders previously mentioned recently losing or hurt (CJ Stroud, Bo Nix, Maye, Hooker, Corum) If Williams plays lights out again Friday, a bigger question may be will this be the most lopsided vote in history? Bennett at Georgia may get a few Southeastern Votes as will Duggan at TCU if they win.

    1. Heisman is a jinx. I haven’t even uttered the word in the last few weeks.

Here’s to a complete performance by the Trojans in LV and a hard-fought win. Worry about personal achievements after the last game.

BTW, the computer, that doesn’t deal with human emotion or bettors bets and does not care if you are at home or away, gives Utah a 61% chance of beating the Trojans on Friday night.

      1. Some people are getting ahead of themselves on this one — forgetting Utah was the consensus preseason choice to win the Pac 12, Utah has a great coach too — and a great QB — & great line play….and that it’s never smart to count your chickens before they hatch [in this case, Heismans or National Championships]…

      1. That would be 7 winners TIREBUMMER should Williams win. Reggie “I saws the money and I tooks it” Bush forfeited his trophy. That negates his selection.

The NCAA is firm, they will never allow Bush to reclaim his cheating Heisman T. Bush doesn’t need a H/T, he’s the star of those silly, infantile Wendy’s commercials. LOL.

Besides BUMMER most of SUCC’s H/T winners have been NFL busts or on trial for murder. Also, wasn’t OJ, during his prison stretch for armed robbery, Nevada’s most famous inmate?

  6. Throughout this year, I have heard a number of people on this forum criticize our offensive and defensive Line coaches and demand that they be fired. I don’t know what planet these guys are living on. The O and D Line coaches are great coaches who develope players.

    Liked by 4 people

    1. The O-line developed into one of the best in the country……Plus, we have a first-team All-American D-lineman…..who’s also in the running for Defensive player of the year!

      1. ….I saw a stat where the AVERAGE USC RB goes 3 yards beyond scrimmage before they are first touched.

That long haired dude for ND was blitzing on most plays and was picked up EACH TIME. Great improvement on blitz pick up BY THE LINE. The RB/TE are not having to stay back to help with the blitz.
        Luxury.

      2. I think the difference in the D-line from the start of the season and now is that these players read all the articles in the media about SC. All the media at the start of the season were saying that our D-Line was soft….a finesse front seven that couldn’t stop the run. I think the players believed it. The big difference is that they don’t believe it anymore. They are convinced that they can play smash mouth football with anyone. That’s the difference. It’s a mental difference as much as a physical difference.

  7. Parcel,

I was thinking at the beggining of thje season taht both lines would not perform and that the offense would implde like last year. I AM WRONG. I belive the oline will tkae it to utah and if they meet georgia, I think they can establish the run against them. For defensive fronts, Grinch has come up with some schemes that are not usual but he has to do it with what he has. he has earned the respect and deserves to come bacdk next year and the year after that. He is good, serious, and he wants to prove that he is a good d cordinator. When he gets players, it cou;d be like the defense of the 70’s, shutting down teams.

    1. When you don’t have the players you have to guess a lot and take chances(slanting, blitzing……..). When you do that you guess wrong a lot and give up big plays. But you also create a lot of turnovers when you guess right. Against UCLA, the D-Line slanted right and the p[lay went left and the UCLA run went for about 25-30 yards.
The offense has great players but the defense needs to recruit and bring in the kind of players that the big Kahuna’s have(Georgia, Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State…..).

      Liked by 3 people

    2. I would rather have them play Michigan than Georgia. If they play Michigan, they play in Scottsdale Arizona. That’s a near home game for us. If they play Georgia, they play in Atlanta. That’s a home field advantage for Georgia.

  8. I’m hearing a lot of talk about David Bailey(the Mater Dei LB who started at Stanford this year) entering the transfer portal now that David Shaw has stepped down. If that’s true, you can bet your boots that SC will be going after him big time, since they went after him big after high school. He still has 3 years of elegibility left.

    1. Man, “Jumbo (salary)” Fisher has recruited the best defenders over the last few years.

I’d have my portal recruiter “sniff” around College Station to see if anyone wants to practice against Caleb every day and be in the running for a CFP invitation in 2023.

  9. I think Stanford will be able to find a coach, but not one as good as Coach Shaw. I was thinking it was time for him to go and he did it with class and dignity. Can he coach db’s? SC coud use him if Donte Williams goes. BTW, his uncle Nate Shaw was a coach at SC.

Best team we play, by far. Better D than ND, OreState, Wazzu. Utah’s offense is as good as UCLA’s.

On the Ute’s message board they are mobilizing support for a mass migration down I-15 to Allegiant. At 420 miles, its an easy trip for their fans. Nothing else to do in December in Utah–the skiing is not ready.

So, get ready for a tough game and quit planning the CFP scenarios and the Hxxsmxn acceptance speech, dammit.
