USC Morning Buzz: A Unique Challenge For Coaches

I spoke to a USC coach this week about the Trojans’ schedule and asked about what team is posing the most challenges as the staff spent the spring scouting opponents.

“No doubt Colorado,” the coach said. “They changed their entire roster and that’s just in the past month. You couldn’t even watch the spring game and use it other than some basic stuff but not for personnel.

“You can’t watch last year’s films. You can watch Kent State’s offense (Colorado hired Kent State coach Sean Lewis as offensive coordinator) to get an idea of the offense.”

The defense might be worse because Buffs defensive coordinator Charles Kelly was not the defensive coordinator at Alabama but an assistant the past four seasons.

“You can watch Jackson State because (Deion Sanders) was going to run what he wanted there; you can watch some Alabama and even Florida State when Kelly was D-coordinator (from 2014-17).

“We play them at the end of September, which is good because we’ll need all that film to cram for them.”

      2. GT,

Why are u suprised? Moses, Methusal, and others had kids in their 80″s and later. Why can’t we?

      3. Yes, but Moses died when he was 120, a little premature for that time.

Pacino & DeNiro will be lucky to see their kids go to grade school, much less middle school. Very selfish of them.

  2. Lets see, new coach, new team players, new conference and different school. I would suppose it could be hard to scout, but then again, the most recent tapes are the ones with the most trending tendencies anyway. That’s why they are called analysts, so just do their job and all will be fine.

      1. Speaking of dicks, guess who’s got stuck in my posterior hole last night? 😀. Yes, Ed.G, and the funny thing about it guys, I didn’t want him to remove it until I got sore. Even though he’s a no spelling Fucc-Tard, he brings joy to my life

I would suppose it could be hard to scout, but then again, Deion Sanders resembles a chimpanzee, so it’s probably easy to figure out his coaching style. 1. Deon Sanders is worth $50 million and has a job but you type that he looks like a chimpanze…the loser who types behind a keyboard with no land, woman or children to be proud of. Who really looks stupid?

  3. Colorado has momentum (as does SC). Colorado will play way over their heads against SC. It will be late on the schedule. SC team will be beat up from the grind of games. Can they rise to the occasion and not let the game be yet another shoot out? Those like Tackett Curtis, Elijah Page, Duce Robinson, Solomon, Sam Greene, Christian Pierce will be called on.

    1. Colorado will probably be a mess because of a lack of continuity and some really rough games against TCU and such. USC should cruise through the early part of their schedule and should be running teams over. Remember, USC was running through teams until Travis Dye became more injured and the line started to suffer injuries to starters. They have better depth this year. But Grinch, talk about self-inflicted wound!

  4. Yeah, right, Colorado poses the most challenges
Washington, Utah and Oregon should be walks in the park in comparison

    1. sparrowcaramelcalypso30266 I agree, no way a colored coach wins in a power 5 conference. Like the great Al Canpanis said, those people don’t have the necessities to figure things out

and I realized I will miss, in a way, playing Stanford, Cal, Oregon and Wash
Who will go to the coliseum to watch riveting Minnesota, Purdue, Maryland
Rutgers or Indiana except maybe 5000 or so transplanted Angelenos.
SC will be back to half filled coliseum games

    1. I went to game in the 60’s, 70’s & 80’s, most games had 55,00 to 60,000 for non conference teams that weren’t BIG names and the conference games aside from ucla weren’t exactly big draws. Now that the Rams AND Chargers are in LA, USC won’t be drawing full houses too often.

  6. Just wondering why everyone is so impressed with Colorado’s head coach? He went from being a high school coach to being a college coach. He went from Jackson State to Colorado. I don’t know, is he really that good or is he all hat and no cattle?

      1. With something like 40 new players the only chemistry Colorado will see
is if they take a class in it.

      2. I’m with you, Michael, can you imagine a colored coach having success in a power 5 conference? That’s ludicrous! 😂

      3. 100%! Anybody who doesn’t realize how easy-peasy it is for a coach to buy a whole new team AFTER Spring Practice and be ready to win in August is a Big Racist….
