Another Busy Week For Recruiting

USC should pick up at least two commitments this week, on Monday and Tuesday, as wide receiver Ryan Pellum of Long Beach Millikan and safety Marquis Gallegos of Sierra Canyon will announce their decisions.

Frankly, USC should be able to get whoever it wants from Millikan and Sierra Canyon, so at least it is protecting its base.

Here’s the week ahead of announcements:

Monday: Wide receiver Ryan Pellum

Tuesday: Safety Marquis Gallegos

Thursday: Wide receiver Dre’lon Miller

Friday: Cornerback Braylon Conley

      1. You got that right. I visit those sights from time to time and see mainly receivers and secondary players. I just don’t see the activity I’d like with linemen & linebackers.I guess it’s going to be “Portal City.”

      From what I have heard the impression is that early commitments are not really that solid anymore. So the season will matter.

      1. An astute observation made by you. The pool is deep enough to snag at least a few of these guys. SC seems to be stacking skill player like pancakes, while the DL coaches are whiffing on what’s available. NIL trouble?

  2. Why should SC get all the local high school products, because it is SC?– Kids today have a “wider lens” than the 20th Century footballers

    2. The main difference is that with NIL the family and close friends of the players will be flown out and put up in hotels for football weekends, so being close to home doesnt matter as much.

      The programs that can recruit nationwide are all going after those top 150 kids.

      And no, wife Carol did not try to win me over to her Catholic faith,
      she figured I was a lost cause,
      but unlike “good” Catholics she doesn’t believe in a Hell either, like me
      I mean, if you were in charge would you create a Hell for marginally good people?
      — Didn’t think so

      And if there were a Hell for some persons I would choose not to have been born
      Why take the risk of 80 or so years on earth, for the possibility of eternal Hell?

  6. Depending on what site you believe in SC has recruited top 150 OL & DL, there will be players decommitting left and right. Can we enjoy the momentum? This is a must year in the trenches to show recruits that our coaches can develop OL & DL elite and marginal talent into real bonifide units, that can compete against the top their teams. Henson & Nua, the clock is ticking on your hot seat. No matter who plays on both lines, the must produce in a major way or we will get our ass kicked when we get on the biggest games on the national stage.
