How will USC keep its running backs happy this season?
The Trojans have six backs capable of playing this season and in the best of times, playing three is a challenge. I expect a lot from South Carolina-transfer MarShawn Lloyd. But returning tailback Austin Jones will play and Raleek Brown looks like he can play in the slot and at tailback.
So where does that leave Darwin Barlow along with freshmen Quinten Joyner and A’Marion Peterson? It’s not going to be a surprise if one of the freshmen shows he is better than the veterans. But will that translate to carries? It doesn’t always.
And if someone doesn’t play, how long until they consider the transfer portal? Remember, wide receiver Gary Bryant shut it down last season after three games.
- Lincoln Riley, Caleb Williams and Mason Cobb will appear at 9:20 a.m. at Pac-12 media day on Friday. Pac-12 commissioner George Kliavkoff will make his opening remarks at 8 a.m.
The Mountain West Conference media days are Wednesday/Thursday. There should be some good spinning there.

I doubt Raleek Brown is satisfied with his role. He was a big time recruit. Reilly probably spent time talking with him about how they were going to tweek the offense to get him the ball in space, ect. He was likely expecting 20 touches a game but only got 5 to 8. I think he will transfer next year. Barlow won’t play and may transfer.

I see no persuasive evidence that Scott is Go Troy 22 but in the unlikely event that he is, I like this blog even more. Go Troy typically has informative and entertaining post and I don’t think re-posting someone’s prior statement that contradicts his current one is unfair. It certainly doesn’t constitute harassment.

If you get enough really outstanding players at any position then it doesn’t matter if some transfer out. Having too many great players at one position is a good problem to have. When there is that much competition, the result will be one or two great players stepping out of the crowd into stardom and maybe one or two transferring out.
And USC will always get more great recruits coming in. I would think that some of these RB’s will eventually transfer out. We had a number of WR’s transfer out after last year and I actually think our WR group this year is better than last year. So I don’t think that it is a big issue.
