Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa Commits To Notre Dame

Linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa of St. John Bosco committed to Notre Dame today.

USC and Ohio State were his other finalists. He is rated the No. 3 inside linebacker in the nation.

What it means is USC will probably go for another linebacker in the transfer portal next year.

Maybe the interesting thing is Mater Dei and St. John Bosco players are not flocking to USC. How much that matters depends on how much you use the portal and USC is, of course, aggressive with the portal.

      1. Well, George, would you get on a half-built arc such as SC football is,
        all offense, no defense,
or a fully built arc such as ND and Ohio St. provide?

ND and SC lately?– Let’s see if our boys can bring home the bacon

  1. These kids from MD and Bosco have been treated like little gods and when someone tells them they need to establish themselves they get their attitudes up and talk to the guy with the biggest NIL to offer. Riley ain’t buying unproven college level talent.

    1. Damn ’49, what a absolute load of 110% bozo BS.

The real reason for Clown U’s two-bit, 2024 recruiting failure/fiasco rests squarely on the bozo’s elite FB performance in Vegas and @ the Cotton Picker/Picking Bowl.

Our recruiting is so poor that it is number 7 in the country even with occasional misses. Truth is there is never any guttie re rioting news because it is a second rate program with zero history of success.

        Cue: irrelevance

  2. As for top rated defensive recruits not going to USC, why would they want to subject themselves to a 3rd rate defensive coaching staff?

The Ladies of Troy defensive coordinator has a resume that’s shit, a defensive line coach that no one wanted and a recruiter pretending to be a defensive secondary coach.

The defense is an easy fix, fire Alex Grinch, stop fucking worrying about Oregon hiring that clown idiot Donte Williams and thinking it will hurt recruiting and hire a legit defensive coordinator and let him bring in his assistants. This shit about keeping 3rd rate coaches around hoping the offense can nullify a less than mediocre defense is bullshit.

Hire a goddamn proven defensive coach, fuck ‘Ol Mule Shoe’s ego!

    1. SC needs Williams if it is going to recruit locally. As it is, right now, Riley has as much recruiting social capital in Texas as he has in California. But you have to give Riley and Grinch credit: they won’t take 4 or even 5 *’s without seeing them workout in person. I like the players they have offered so far.
The more I go back and watch 2nd Utah and Tulane bowl game, they lost their horses on the O-line to injury and weren’t tackling at all. Riley and Grinch are looking for football players who can block and tackle. Riley has done better in the portal.
The game has morphed from a hometown college football venue to a semi-pro paid college team with a national audience.
Can Riley, an Mike Leach Air Raid protege, morph into a coach who can form a balanced attack team that wants to play football or even dominate on defense? As smart and personable as he is, he showed up at the PAC-12 kick off dressed like a precocious kid, if image has any bearing.

I thought he was a tOSU lock.

Hopefully, he won’t pull a Monti Teo at South Bend during long cold winters.

Agree with previous posts that MD and Bosco kids may be a bit overrated lately.

Still you want to build a fence around SoCal talent.

  4. You’ll have a hard time landing high * defensive recruits ( LBs, DLs Edge ) with the deserving reputation of Alex Grinch looming. These kids have more information than we think, including the other competing recruiters pointing out Grinch’s history as a DC. Sure , we’ll land a player or two in the portal, perhaps a 3* from high school, but unless Riley can prove he’s a balanced HC, and his DC is at or close to the level of the top tier teams, it ain’t gonna happen on defense.

  11. It’s definitely a loss. You win some. You lose some. They have missed out on some guys on offense too. I think that the difference is that they are missing out on offense because SC’s offense has so much talent at every position that many players think that they need to go somewhere else to get on the field this year. The old saying that “good things happen to those who wait” doesn’t compute with this younger generation. Their motto is “I want it all and I want it now”.
But I think that it is a different story on defense. Many of them are not coming because they are not convinced that USC has come back all the way on defense. SC needs a great season where they get to the final game. When that happens you’ll see more of these local kids stay home.

  12. You win some and you lose some. This is one that we lost. But things are already changing. If you’ll notice, a lot of these big time players that we are going after…..we end up in the final 2 or the final 3, even if we don’t get them. That’s a huge difference from the final days of Clay Helton where we weren’t even in the final 10 or, worse yet, we weren’t even going after them because we knew they weren’t interested.
So recruiting-wise, we’re much improved from 2 years ago. And we’ll continue to improve. A lot of fans wanted a NC in 2022. Not going to happen. The whole culture has to be changed and so far I like everything what LR has done, except for keeping Grinch. I think that he will have to get rid of him sooner or later. Her should have done it this year.
