Keep an eye on cornerback Dakoda Fields, who committed to USC in June. I think he was the prize commit of June for the Trojans.
I wrote right after he committed that a Serra coach said he wanted to go to Oregon but his family wanted him at USC. Fields visited Oregon last weekend. He’s still committed to USC but he needs to be monitored until Signing Day.
The other June commit to watch is offensive lineman Jason Zandamela of Clearwater, Fla. The word is Florida State is pushing hard to flip Zandamela.
The Seminoles already flipped USC June commit Manasse Itete.
- USC’s summer tour basketball games will be on NBA TV. Do you think NBA TV wants to show these games now that Bronny James is not on the tour?
Yes, Scott. USC has the #1 recruit in the nation so I think that will be popular to people who enjoy college basketball. Not that many, but enough for NBA TV.

Even I had to reread what I wrote 6 times because it was so incomprehensibly stupid and still couldn’t make sense of it. I honestly do not expect anyone to understand what I was trying to say. Just know that I am dumb so don’t be too mean to me.

SC won’t pay a lot of money(if any) to recruits right out of high school. The money is for the people in the transfer portal who have proven themselves. I agree with that. A guy could be a 5 star and have actually maxed out his potential in high school. That guy will not get any better. Because they were good in high school doesn’t mean he won’t be a bust in college.
The problem is that the other schools are starting to pay big right out of high school. That’s why Florida State, Auburn, Oregon and others are recruiting so well right now. That’s why we lost Itete to FSU. He took the money and ran.
The only way to avoid paying high schoolers if everyone is doing it is to have a couple of great seasons and become like Alabama and Georgia. I don’t think that they pay high schoolers. Their great program sells itself.
But they may eventually have to start paying them too. When everyone is doing it, it’s hard to not do it and compete. That’s why the SEC has actually gone to congress and tried get them to pass some kind of bill restricting what you can do as far as high schoolers and the NIL is concerned. For years they have had an advantage by paying bags of money to high schoolers and getting away with it. Now it’s legal and they have lost their advantage.

These a-hole private equity jerks are going to take over college football. Talk about destruction. $1 billion to get into the FBS?

Talk about destruction…..the whole world seems to be headed for destruction(not just football). I remember back in the 1960’s Barry McGuirre made a song called the ‘Eve of Destruction’. The song was banned in 26 countries because it was so negative. But things weren’t nearly as bad back then as they are today.
