USC Notes: Oregon Revives A Publicity Campaign

Remember when Oregon put up a huge billboard of Joey Harrington in Times Square and then put up a billboard near L.A. Live of its wide receivers in 2002?

Well, the Ducks have revived that practice with a 151 feet by 90 feet billboard of quarterback Bo Nix at 315 Park Avenue South in Manahattan.

  • Caleb Williams was a first-team selection on the CBS Sports All-American team. Calen Bullock was a second-team pick.
  • Lincoln Riley said freshman QB Malachi Nelson was “operating probably below 50 percent physical capability” in the spring game. That’s good to hear because Nelson was awful in the spring game.
  • USC men’s volleyball has signed transfer setter Josh Friedman, a transfer from Hawaii.

  6. Those early season advertising campaigns can come back to bite. Bo Nix is very good but he might be Bo Jangles near end of season. Never been a big Phil Knight fan but his book Shoe Dog is one of the best books on entrepreneurship I’ve ever read. It’s an amazing story…did you know Nike was a side hustle for over ten years??? Read it.

Never understood why fans/followers use thd lettering the respective schools use to identify one from another….here’s an example of any 3rd party being understandably confused ‘What ‘OU’ are you referring to? It’s why I’ve always deferred to the USPS 2 letter state id’s and yes, as a rabid USC fan, there is confusion per So. Carolina as ‘SC’ but nonetheless save for the unlikely hood of North Dakots being confused with Notre Dame the use of thd USPS 2 letters is a clearer way to note who it is one is referring to.

      Sorry for the long screed but ‘OR’ is Orehon just as ‘OK’ is Oklahoma and ‘OU’ means nothing.

  8. People in New York look at their phone more than a billboard. That billboard will stop the recession.

    Maybe if it were in pink, then it could get more relevance. With Bo hugging Ken. Same uniform fetish.
