Reggie Bush made the following comment today at his press conference.
“I got dreams of coming back into this stadium and running out of that tunnel with the football team. I got dreams of walking in here and seeing my jersey right there next to the other Heisman Trophy winners but I can’t rightfully do that without my Heisman Trophy.”
So who is stopping that? USC can let Bush run out with the team Saturday. They can also display his jersey at the Coliseum in they want to on Saturday. None of that requires NCAA approval.
This is all really about Bush wanting his Heisman back. He is suing the NCAA but the Heisman Trust decides whether he gets his Heisman Trophy back. NCAA approval is not required. So the lawsuit seems misguided.

‘legoland’ and Cal are still showing their respective ankles to the ACC as is SMU….as already reported SMU is prepared to take no revenue for the next 7 years while both ‘legoland’ and Cal are willing to accept a minimum of 30% of what a full member would receive per year ….. in addition the ACC is also considering adding 1, 2 all 3 or none with a decision due at the latest by Saturday….the ACC would be fools to pass on admitting them esp with FL St. tearing at its’ tether to be gone from the ACC and who knows who also follows in their wake?

They (ACC) have no choice if both FL St. and Clemson are intent on leaving just as Klivakoff had none with USC and ‘Bel-Air Tech’ joint announcement of departure – the ACC would be crazy to pass on admitting both ‘legoland’ and Cal as Klivakoff failed to do in enticing any Big12 schools to join – thus the lightening fast implosion of the Pac12.

Parcel: Reggie did not hire a good lawyer. He hired Ben Crump – Al Sharpton with a law degree. If Reggie didn’t violate the rules, why was he silent in 2009 when USC needed him to speak out and deny the allegations that he had hired a sports agent in 2004 while a sophomore at SC and that the agent paid for his parents $3,200 per month rent on a home in San Diego. When the agent sued him asking for reimbursement for the rental fees advanced to his parents and other damages because Reggie breached their contract, Reggie paid up. No denial. Reggie is not the victim. The players who followed him who were not eligible to participate in bowl games are the victims. And the USC football program that lost 30 scholarships because of his greed and has still not fully recovered is the victim. Fuck Reggie Bush. When is he going to apologize to USC for the damages he inflicted on the program.

I don’t know. I would never try and pass myself off as a legal expert, which I’m not. But I keep hearing from different people that everything that Reggie did is legal today. Why is it legal today? What’s changed? Football is still football.
Maybe it’s legal today because a group of power players who could change things sat down and decided that it should always have been legal. If that’s the case then we are holding Reggie responsible for breaking a rule that never should have been a rule.

Plowhorse may be right. I’m not trying to pass myself off as a legal expert(which I am not). But as a legal layman, it just seems to me that there is something wrong here.
When Reggie did that, it was illegal. He was breaking the rules. But it is legal today. If a man commits a felony and they sentence him to 15 years in prison and then one year later they change the law whereby that act goes from being a felony to a misdemeanor, should they still require him to spend the next 14 years in prison?

Consequently, he was not entitled to compete for the Heisman trophy and when his contract was exposed Reggie voluntarily returned it to the Heisman committee. None of this is disputed. In 2021, seventeen years later, the NCAA changed its rules to allow college athletes to receive NIL money following a Supreme Court decision. Today, a college athlete can hire an agent to represent him and retain his amateur collegiate status. For example, Caleb hired an agent to represent him in his negotiations to become a spokesperson for Beats by Dr. Dre and Caleb received a substantial amount of money. But a college athlete can not retain an agent to represent him in future NFL contracts and retain his amateur status. I think this is what Reggie did in 2004 because NIL was not available to college athletes until 2021. So Reggie was in violation of the rules even by today’s standards. I really do not believe he has solid grounds for asking the Heisman Trust to return the trophy to him. He was not an amateur athlete when he competed for the Heisman and this is not disputed.
