It was great USC finally put out a depth chart late Wednesday night but how accurate was it for Saturday’s game?
Well, true freshman Zacariah Branch started after being listed No. 3 at one wide receiver position.
Jarrett Kingston was listed as the starter at right guard but Gino Quinones started.
Bear Alexander and Kyon Barrs were listed at the same position on the depth chart (nose tackle) but both started Saturday.
I’ll tell you what the depth chart got right: Korey Foreman being No. 3 at defensive end and Raleek Brown No. 4 at a wide receiver. Neither got much playing time.
Neither did defensive back Christian Roland-Wallace, who had one tackle and seemed to play sparingly despite being the backup at nickel back and cornerback.
Defensive end Jack Sullivan was listed as a co-starter at defensive tackle but did not have a tackle and did not seem to have a significant role.
USC had 43 players get at least 10 snaps on offense and defense vs. San Jose State, according to TruMedia Sports.
I don’t see any problems with the ‘Death Chart’

It was perfect. Not a problem in the world. Depth charts are worthless.

43 SCers saw action which has to be way above average
If not building depth this method is at least keeping players content

After seeing the depth chart, what we saw on Saturday was exactly what I figured that a lot of players were going to play. I suspect as the season goes on some players will step up and be more regular in the lineup. I saw Jack Sullivan being pretty disruptive at the line of scrimmage when he was in the game. What can we say about Korey Foreman and Relek other than Usc has not done a good job of developing five star players for quite a while. It would be hard to believe that they aren’t talented
because a lot of the elite schools were recruiting them. I would suspect Relek Brown enters the transfer portal maybe even before the season is over because unless there are significant injuries, he’s not going to play much. Where was Michael Jackson? He seemed to be a talented player with a lot of speed. Also, Christian Roland Wallace may get more playing time the way the defensive backs played in the first game

Good idea to give lots of guys reps in the first two games and see how that separates who plays later in the season. I can’t remember which reporter said the following, but it was telling: “In the past (past = Helton), if a starter just showed up to practice they knew they would start. Now they have to hold off the other guys in practice. Lots more competition.”

Hey, road apple, 85 scholarship players, Mr. Branch, Brent Browner, and Gabby all gave you the “third finger in” ……feel special!
PS…. please post the story again about your uncle’s bet involving the Rams and Bucs.

Explain how a policy of hiring the best person for the job is racist. You brought it up. Please answer instead of being a chickensh*t.
Also, I note that when you want to really denigrate the wife of someone you don’t like on this board, presumably a white person, you say that she has a black dildo. Or you suggest that she is cheating with a black man. To you a white woman with a black man is the ultimate denigration. Is that racist? Frankly, I think you are the only truly racist person who regularly posts on this board. Like most leftists, you accuse others of doing the very thing that you do -treat black person as incapable of competing on equal terms with white people. I invite you to explain yourself but predict you will be a chickensh*t.

Fingers crossed, George. Last year, Raleek had some difficulty blocking, which led to his move to the slot. Hope he gets more reps.

Releek Brown will not be a transfer portal player. 1. He knows the system, 2. He will do short pass routes until he learns nuisances of being a complete receiver . 3. He will have 2 more years to develop until a elite WR.

Brown is gone. He’s this years Gary Bryant. The crap that Wolf cries about is odd to say the least. Kobe Pepe is still on the team, I wonder if his younger brother has anything to do with that.

They won’t be playing 70 players by the 7th game.

No they won’t be playing 70 guys, but if they need to reach deep they will have guys with game time experience. Maybe not a lot, but at least they have been baptized.

Yeah and I’m sure that’s why they are playing them now….also to find out who the regulars are going to be. There are some really good young players who are pushing to be part of that 2-deep rotation

The depth chart is not what it will be by the 4th game. The coaches will have a good indication who will be the starters n who will be 2nd string. I would like to see Zion n Pierce, and Shelby get real good opportunities to shine or figure out if they are going to redshirt. Hopefully they will find a way to get Releek some shine, too talented not to be involved with all the playmakers we have now. We have get consistency with our offense to be efficient for the 2nd half of our schedule.
