Caleb Williams had his worst game of the season and yet when the game was on the line, he carried the Trojans to the victory, often with his legs. Just imagine what it will be like when he is gone.

RUNNING BACK
For all the talk about the depth at this position, it’s basically MarShawn Lloyd right now and his carries tend to be inconsisent. He did a decent job Saturday but didn’t really worry Arizona and went missing at the end.

WIDE RECEIVER
The best receiving corps in the nation? Doesn’t seem like it. They need to step up in the second half. Did you notice Mario Williams finally did not start after his struggles?

OFFENSIVE LINE
They were under duress all night trying to provide pass protection for Caleb Williams. For some reason, the ESPN announcers kept saying how great the offensive line was. They got exposed . . . again.
Grade: D
DEFENSIVE LINE
How many times did Arizona successfully run the ball to the right side against USC with little resistance? The USC defensive line tends to get most of the hype, especially Bear Alexander, but they weren’t up to it against Arizona, which is scary.
Grade: D+
LINEBACKER
Mason Cobb overcame a rib injury and is an inspirational leader for the defense. I still don’t get why Eric Gentry doesn’t play more but the coaches seem infatuated with Tackett Curtis.
Grade: D
DEFENSIVE BACK
Who can they cover? They seem to be getting worse as the season progresses. Lincoln Riley better go to the transfer portal and sign 3-4 corners next season. What is Donte Williams doing to develop these guys? It’s awful.

SPECIAL TEAMS
What else will anyone remember other than the bad snap on the potential game-winning field goal? Oh yes, the punt where several USC players tried to throw the Arizona player at the ball. At least Eddie Czaplicki averaged 46 yards a punt.

COACHING
Lincoln Riley is many things but this season he is completely out of touch. He hardly looked like an offensive genius the way he handled the final drive of regulation. Right now he is relying on an individual (Caleb Williams) to overcome everything instead of the team. Saturday night, there were times it looked like Clay Helton was back in charge.
Grade: F

If I said it once, I’ll say it again, Lincoln Riley is slowly getting exposed. I thought it was going to happen next year in the Big Ten, but it’s starting to creep in a year early. Somebody needs to inform him the Mike Leach shit show ain’t working, and it never will.

I have been to the games at Notre Dame 3 times, all SC losses
which is not unusual since historically Troy loses 2 out of 3 back there
and 4 a row at present. The Irish expect to win this game
The isolated campus has a religious feel when walking its hallowed grounds and entering its old stadium,
giving ND almost a mystical feel
while giving SC the jitters

CLR needs to be thanking his lucky stars that Jed The Fisch, another offensive ego maniac who’s always trying to show people what a genius he is, basically shit the bed with his horrendous play calling in the 4th quarter and OT, or SC walks out of there with a huge L. Disagree on the grade for Marshawn Lloyd. He is an incredible running back and any lack of success is the offensive line. He had some key runs that were not large holes.
The o-line was a little better after Tarquin was replaced with Murphy. Monheim has been OK, but not nearly as good as he should be. I think Pregnon might be getting better? Not impressed with Dedich or Kingston. Do we need to have any more changes to the o-line? My wish is that Paige was good enough to become the left tackle and then put Monheim back at right guard, where he is the most effective. These senior transfers are not performing.
Defensive backs are a just a hot mess all over the place. CRW wasnt great, he cant stick with talented receivers, but he does make some plays. Bullock needs to be used properly. Shaw cant cover anything. Do we have a player that can replace Shaw – either Zion or could Christian Pierce or Maliki Crawford step up? Getting Shaw off the field would make the db room 25% better. Covington could get better with the right coaching.
Defensive line feels like we have potentially great players that need better coaching, particularly on the run defense.

Saturday night’s game against Arizona another Grinch disaster. When will Riley learn that he needs to dump this guy ? When Caleb leaves, the House of Cards will fall. Better to get the message to Arizona QB Fafita that he needs to enter the transfer portal after the season so that Riley can get him to SC. Small guy in height, but he has talent. Miller Moss doesn’t have the same talent or enegy to match this local guy from Servite.
