      1. Not sure what game you were watching, but how can one not be critical of a defense that cannot stop ONE drive in the final minute against a backup QB, a backup running back, and ultimately give up almost 500 total yards. Really!! I would be sick too!!

    which is quite real.
    In the press conference after the Utah shocker he did not appear to be himself while looking down the entire time he talked. I think the guy just got overly fatigued and weighted down by a mountain full of critics

        I had just wanted someone who had turned a program around. Not someone who had merely kept a good thing going. I certainly wasn’t against him being hired, the way I was against us hiring Urban.

        Let’s hope LR does what it takes. I’m sure as heck pulling for him!!

    with deficient sleep for months at a time, it is amazing more of them don’t get ill during the season

    1. Taking our OC job for 4 weeks and then bailing always had me rooting against him in AZ. Not thrilled he came back.

      But I’ve never been a win at any cost kinda guy. I want 90% graduation rates, good sportsmanship on the field, no off the field problems (esp with regard to how they treat their gf’s & wives) and to compete for championships. In that order.

  8. Wiley came to SC with a lot of pressure on him to quickly make SC football relevant again which he figured was best done by aggressively raiding the Portal for “ready-made players”
    That first year was pretty good as he came close to making the Final-4

    However, as teams are finding out the Portal players are not guaranteed to be successful. Wiles must take a deep breath, realize this will be a years rebuilding project, and start building a rapport with local high school talent

  9. Reilly thought that everything had fallen into place for him to have a phenomenal year. A once in a generation quarterback returning. Sound additions to the offensive line and even more help on the defensive line. He likely thought that he had the best offense in the country and a top 20 defense. An appearance in the CFP followed by a top 5 recruiting class would follow. Now he realizes that he greatly over estimated his team in all facets of the game. Defenses have adjusted to his offensive scheme and receivers aren’t always open. His quarterback has difficulty making reads and delivering the ball within 3 seconds. His offensive line transfers have been huge disappointments and the defensive players can not grasp the Grinch defense, are frequently out of position and still can’t seem to tackle consistently. And the recruits and fans have soured on the program. No wonder he is sick.

    But as bleak as it looks, Reilly’s team still has talent. If the coaches would make adjustments, I think they have the potential to win 3 of the next 4 games. This is not the most likely scenario, but definitely achievable. They have underperformed. But they can get on a roll if they start playing to their potential. Change the offensive scheme and simplify and defense and see what happens.

    1. Riley will probably open the playbook for the last 3 games and show a very different offense. Kingsbury is sitting around absorbing some of Riley’s genius. If he has to take over temporarily the team is in good hands.

    3. I wish I had the same belief as you. My problem is that I see the players getting worse the more coaching they receive. Grinch had a whole month before Tulane to improve his defense…and it got worse.

      My guess is that Riley’s offensive approach was more unique in the past and now is a bit stale.

      Winning football games comes down to the coaching staff. This staff is failing. Kliff Kingsbury stepping in as offensive coordinator will make this even worse. KK has a horrible record of failure.

  10. It is actually being reported that USC is running it through compliance to get KK on coaching staff. They are right now at 10, the max, so they have to come up with a work-around till Riley is back on his feet. Wolf again is wrong and full of shit.
